I'm thinking of upgrading to an RX 480 and I was wondering if I should update any other components as well. In general my whole computer has been getting pretty slow lately. It's about 6 years old aside from the graphics card (R9 380) which was bought fairly recently. I'm wondering if while I'm upgrading to the RX 480 if I should invest in a new motherboard/CPU. Currently my specs are: Intel i5 2500K 8 GB ram Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 MSI r9 380 4 GB

Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated as I am relatively uninformed as to the newest things coming out lately in the PC world. (I'm also planning on moving windows to an SSD that I recently acquired as well to possibly help with the slowness.) I should also mention that the CPU has been getting pretty hot lately and I am weary on whether or not I should attempt to OC it.

had same issue. in local ads found a guy selling barely used Skylke 6600 with Mobo and SSD. Also threw is shitty case and PSU... The guy is switching to Apple, thank you Apple
>>
>>57574600
it would be beneficial to upgrade the cpu. sandy bridge is now starting to show its age on both sides of the fence.

personally i would heavily invest into x99 with broadwell-e. most new games now can actually not only utilize four threads, but are touching six to eight. MOAR (good quality) CORES have been paying off recently.
>>
>>57574600
I'd wait and see what zen looks like. I wouldn't upgrade from a 380 to a 480, its not enough of an upgrade to justify it

Any good free open access cloud based text editors like Google Docs?

But with one serious condition - can't be European or U.S. based company. Russian or anti U.S. country preferred

You can use russian Yandex Disk (disk.yandex.ru) it is something like google drive where you can edit uploaded doc and xls documents.

hahahahah how old are you? 12?

I tried mail.ru cloud service but it didn't have live doc editor. Might try Yandex but if it isn't similar to google doc in point of live editing then it won't cut it.

Even recently downloaded a Jupiter Ace emulator to the iPad, but have yet to really try it out.

FORTH is pretty neat. I find reasoning on a stack to be a fun mental exercise.

Don't expect it to be actually useful for anything, though.

Anybody who thinks security questions AREN'T a security hole is retarded.

To answer yours, it's Vivian, and anybody who knew me in middle school knows that answer, which is why I use it.

If you're forced to use security questions, check if there's functionality to freeform write your own, and just make it a "second password".

So I lost my Sansa Clip + with Rockbox installed. I was pretty happy with it. I am looking to get something that can hold a higher capacity. IIRC the largest SD card it takes is 32gb.

Any recommendations?

Seems like you can use larger than 32GB cards with it.

I had a 128gb one for my rockboxed clip+ before selling it, the microSD card should be formatted as FAT32 though.

Which is the best language to learn for statistics

academic circlejerking or real world?

R

Nobody uses SAS in statistics research, it's either R or a compiled language. It's also ugly and gross.

Python is an also-ran if you just absolutely refuse to learn R, but fuck that. R was literally built for doing statistics. You'd be stupid to use Python instead.
>>
>>57574013
Use R

>>57574076
While Python is handy for general scripting, I agree that for statistics, R is a lot better. If I am forced to use Python for stuff, I tend to rely on rpy and rpy2 for R bindings.

Remind me again why you aren't using the best OS? If you have no need for rolling, this distro is best for literally any windows, linux, or mac user and should be running on everyones computers

I do.
Actually, even my parents use it since I installed it to them, and since then, I don't need to help them with something once a week.
I personally use Qubes, which is based on Fedora and Xen, so I basically do aswell. Just werks.
(Using XFCE, parents aswell)
>>
>>57573837
I use but it has shit repositories, a lot of the obscure software needs to be either install via linux brew or copr or self-compiled. Not to mention the abhorrent boot times.
>>
>>57573901

Agreed. It's a nice distro, but these things need to be solved before I use it over Debian.
