Should there be a computer license, required in order to be allowed to operate a computer?
One that you have to pass a test in order to get, that covers basic tasks, things like installing software, using email, reinstalling the OS, not getting viruses, etc.
Yeah so people like you stop posting shit on g

A4 or Letter?
FUCK ALL THESE DIFFERENT COMPETING "STANDARDS"
A4 because I'm not a retarded American who has to invent some arbitrary unit instead of using logically designed European units.
Remember when they showed two 480s last year operating at 50% being faster than the 1080 also?
Man good times, it'll be different this time though right?

I place a bit of weed on a spoon along with some butter and heat it up with a candle.
I mix the green liquid butter into yoghurt and eat it before I go to sleep.
If I don't do this, I will keep thinking about doing more IT-related stuff. I actually shiver and squirm if I don't get to feed my computer addiction.
Am I beyond help /g/?

Is it normal for Gnome to run laggy on a 2012 machine? I have a Thinkpad T420 with an i5 2520M and 4GB of RAM. Windows 10 runs flawlessly but Ubuntu Gnome lags even with the most basic animations like showing the overview of all windows.
I thought I was missing a driver or something but when I go to "Additional drivers" only a "microcode" its available.
Is this the power of Linux?
>>58398327
macOS doesn't have that problem
depends on the version of gnome you are using. its pretty good now 3.18+
>>58398424
>2017
>still on 3.18
why?
From a dev perspective how the fuck would linking animations and game mechanics to FPS seem like a good idea?
>>58398272
Because how else do you want to make a game but by having a giant update cycle that checks all the shit the game needs to run periodically. And obviously thats gonna run slower when fps drop because that means your computer isnt up to par. Also check out some basic unity tutorials if you want to know more.
For fighting games, or other games which require players to be able to rely on visual timings, linking fps to animations is essential to having a consistent experience

But in this case it resulted in enemies having 360 tracking on swings, doubled durability loss and halved iframes.
one internet connection (bretty gud around 60mbps)
two different wireless routers
three different android phones
literally no IM based app works while using the wifi connection on each one of those routers on each one of those phones. cant send/receive shit, the regular browser chrome/whatever works, but i cant send/receive messages in any instant messaging apps.
cellular data works tho
why?

I'm once again tired of the bullshit that is Windows and making the switch to Linux. Looking for reqs on which distro to use. I've used Linux in the past so I'm not too worried about user friendliness. I really just want something lightweight and clean for web browsing with lots of tabs over multiple monitors. Aside from that I torrent a lot of anime to watch with VLC. Not looking for much beyond that because I'm going to dual boot Windows for gaming/visual novels.

Mint or Gentoo
xubuntu
Oh by the way not sure how much specs matter for this but I'm running a Pentium G3220, GTX 750ti, and I have a 256GB SSD with a 1TB HDD.
I don't get it. Some company releases a new phone and there is all this hype about how beautiful it is, or how artful the design is. They all look the same to me. It's a rectangle with a touch screen, and some buttons in various places. That's it though. They're all the same cosmetically. Sure there are differences in software, but the external appearance is the same. It's a rectangle with a touch screen, and some buttons and places to plug things in. They all look exactly the same to me. Yes, I can see that this one has speakers on the bottom front and this one has speakers underneath or on the back. Maybe one has three buttons and the other one has two. But style? It's a fucking rectangle. Period.
Different colors? Who gives a shit. One color isn't superior to another. What am I missing? What is the thing that makes one phone better looking than another? To me, they're all just rectangles with a few buttons. They all look the same.
It's the only way to move new units these days, since the actual hardware is stagnating. They can't market a 0.3ghz faster CPU or slightly more pixel-dense screen as well as the physical design, so they'll talk up how the new brick is slimmer and shinier than last year's model.
Pretty big difference between my moto x my new iPhone and my friend's S7
>Only buy phones that are 2 years old
What's wrong with doing this again?
Should fully autonomous (NHTSA level 5/maybe 4) vehicles be allowed on the roads?
Would you ever trust your life to one (i.e. sleep in the back seat while it drives)?
They allowed woman drivers so i don't see why this won't
>>58397113
Sure in fact I'd insist that niggers and gooks should use it.
>>58397168
hahaha misogyny so funny! xD
I would never trust my life to a computer.
