I just bought one of these. It'll come today. You guys won't look down on me right?

>I just bought one of these. It'll come today. You guys won't look down on me right?
Not if you install AOSP on it. If it's even supported
>>58401376
I just got one this past december.
Runs cyanogenmod pretty ok (if you can still find the download)
not fast at all, and pixels on screen are annoyingly rectangular.
Still cheap and usable though.
I know it might be the most stupid and the most asked question on the Internet but I'm serious about this.
I'm finishing my bachelor in programming and just started wondering aboit what's the first step to become a hacker. How do you learn it and how do you get better at it.
We got to learn some techniques during some classes but only old ones and all just in theory.
I asked on of my class mate who participated in some hackaton but this faggot pulled the mysterious guy act on me.
I don't think I'll have the dedication to get into it seriously but I just want to know what are the basics.
Ow and just feel free to give some book titles if they answer my questions
What type of hacking?

what happened in this fucking webm ?
PC upgraded from a pentium D 950 to a Q6700.
Did I do good /g/?
>>58401248
You'd be less poor and able to afford proper computer upgrades if you stopped watching anime.
The fact that you're proud of using such outdated junk is a sign of how poor you are.
Stupid weaboo poorfag scum.

Why isn't kernel nostalgia a thing? There is nostalgia for XP and 10.6.8.
>>58401239
Because tech nostalgia is generally retarded, and only when reminiscing about stuff from your lost childhood (like programming BASIC on your C64 or messing around with your father's PDP-7) is okay.
Anything released this side of 2000 is not old enough yet.
Because you don't interact with the kernel directly, your applications and hardware do.
>>58401258
>Anything released this side of 2000 is not old enough yet.
For you.
>>58401271
That's false because Linux has a monolithic kernel, you fucking faggot nigger.
wtf was his fucking problem?
he was to smart

Linux Gaming thread
For a long time I was planing to fully move to Linux however I was always pushing it back for time reasons, recently I got so fed up with Windows 10, which was a memory, CPU and network bandwidth hog. I fully moved to XUbuntu 16.04 since on it my memory used never goes above 2.5GB even when multiple Firefox tabs are open and I am playing an indie game.
I was gonna ask whether there is a way to optimize it better for graphics, I installed Compton and the proprietary Intel graphics driver and I have no issue while I'm Gaming on the built in monitor, however if I attach an HDMI monitor and game on it CPU frequency drops to 0.80GHz and my FPS drops drastically.
PS
Not forcing anyone to answer my personal question it's just a Linux gaming thread
>>58401126
didnt read this
>>>/v/
I don't know why the HDMI would make the performance drop. I never game on Linux, but if this is true then someone should find a solution. I have never had the problem, but..
>16.04
why do you have the old version? Do you game on a server? The so called LTS or "stable" version are mostly for servers who need to be on 24 hours per day and that rely on long term support. Most people don't rely on that because most people can just update to the newest supported version.
Even if you are new you likely can use the newest version without much problems.
>>58401174
I chose the LTS because I wanted maximum stability and better support and to avoid problems like HDMI tanking performance for no reason :))
I updated the bios for my Asus motherboard in stuck in this American megatrends error screen what do?
blast it with piss
>>58401039
un plug the ram and try to run it with one stick at a time also remove all usb devices and see if that works if your motherboard has a bios switch set it to the second bank.
>>58401039
Looks like it thinks a door on your chasis is open. Google is your friend.
Why should anyone buy a new smartphone that costs over $200?
Why should anyone buy a smartphone?

Exactly. They're overpriced toys.

Razer Prototype were stolen during CES 2017
>>58400916
I hope they install some shitty OS on it like linux and give it back
>>58400950
>yfw a /g/entooman steals it, installs gentoo, slaps tidus on it, and gives it back.
/g/, why aren't you using a BSD operating system?
>>58400869
Less online resources than Linux and the lack of software/drivers. Furthermore I plan to create a Linux only DE developer
>>58400869
Doesn't support my hardware (bluetooth, my wifi card, peripherals)
I use gentoo on my main computer, which is somewhat bsd-like in package management
the whole idea of having a cohesive core system is pretty cool, so i might run it in a VM, but linux works so well day to day that i can forgive its haphazardness
>>58400869
I tried freebsd and I learned to fear every update. I then moved to mint and then to lubuntu.
Why would someone buy AMD?
If I wanted to settle, I'd buy a console.
Do you want to be known as the guy on the street that couldn't afford an Nvidia GPU so they had to buy a budget AMD card for poor people? That's literally one step above being on welfare.
Don't buy AMD if you value yourself at all.
>>58400708
I buy based on what I need at the time, and at the time, I couldn't find any reason to get a GTX 970 over an R9 390.
>>58400708
>I'd buy a console.
Consoles are AMD

Glad I moved to Linux where I can make my shit just the way a sane user would like it to be
nah dude it honestly looks pretty dope. I'm trying it atm and their nailing the gaussian blur
too bad you didn't move to OS X where it was already like that
not like you need to save time anyways, ya neet

>AMD boasts that their $500 CPU can compete against $1000 Intel CPU in /v/ermin's games
>Meanwhile it's a feat literally achievable by CPU's $800 cheaper.
I don't get it, why AMD puts so much emphasis on those Battlefield 1 benchmarks, especially in 4K where Titan X is going to hit that full load way before your CPU does?
>>58400551
Vega will demolish the titan XP at $350 too
