Hello /g/
I'm building a small digital archive of old family documents, to be eventually passed on later.
It will mostly be comprised of text documents and scans of old family documents and pictures.
I already have more or less everything I need to do it. I was just looking for opinions from other people, maybe people who've done this sort of work before. What should I expect/What should I use/Recommended software. Ideas like that.
Any insights? Many thanks in advance.

Backups.
Backups.

Backups.
Oh, you should make a few backups while you're at it.
Buen sistema operativo
I'm a 22 year old NEET who wants to work at Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Amazon.
What programming language do I dedicate my life to?

No "mactoddlers" here, serious discussion only.
What advantages of the tMBP 15" are there over the XPS 15?
>>58394038
Literally none.
tMBP is a literal piece of turd.
>>58394038
Leagues better trackpad. This is a huge point.
Better support.
Better quality control and build quality.
>>58394038
The Oled bar is actually cool cause you can program them to be pretty much any button you want.
Do you guys run your MacBooks (pro or otherwise) at scaled resolutions? I'm not even sure if that's the right term.
My MacBook can go up to 2880x1800 with RDM but I usually run it at "Default for display" which afaik is 1280x800 with down sampled UI.
I heard that running it at higher resolutions makes the text lose sharpness. Anyone know if this is true?
>>58394034
Why would you buy a macbook?
>>58394055
Light
Fanless
Amazing screen
Amazing trackpad
macOS
Don't need any more reasons really
Macs are sad.
The 13'' maximum resolution is 1680x1050.
So basically anyone with a 1080p resolution has more screen real estate than a $1500 DongleBook Pro.
Apple announced the iPhone exactly 10 years ago tomorrow. Could /g/ admit that it was pioneer device for its time and is GOAT in terms of technology products?

Shit was garbage and required multiple software and hardware updates to get on the level of normal phone vendors.
And as usual quite expensive

/g/, I fucked up. I need some opinions on what you would do.
Currently building my own computer and decided to go the mini-itx route. Bought a 6700k and a mobo with a z170 chipset.
Should I:
A: Return both the mobo and CPU and buy a 7700k and a z270 mobo. If I do this, there are only 2 z270 mini itx mobos on the market now, there are more slated to come out, but no date.
B: Return just the CPU and get the 7700k and stay with the same mobo(Asus Z170I Pro Gaming).
C: Just keep the mobo and CPU.
C or back to >>>v
>>58393780
So you're saying you fucked up because you're not going to have the newest hardware? Looks to me like the only reason you made this post is to brag about how you can buy whatever you want.
>>58393780
return it and never buy another computer ever again fag boy
how long until this takes overtakes java
>>58393754
Probably never, honestly.
I'm pretty sure Java has -- by far -- the greatest range of supported platforms of any language out there. It's used on embedded systems all the way up to web servers and desktop applications.
I laughed when I first heard that was the plan for Java. But damned if they didn't manage it. It still boggles my mind that we live in an age where Java is suitable for embedded software.
>>58393754
Never since C# doesn't work on fucking anything.
>>58393935
I wrote a web scraper in C# using mono on my 2006 Macbook while sitting on the toilet taking a dump. That was actually one of the more interesting experiences in my programming life.
I dunno what the state of affairs is, but it sure looked like it was going to be possible to run C# servers on Linux boxes. That's an interesting idea. Personally, I'd care more about desktop UI programs in C# on Linux.
