It installs and detects hardware flawlessly and lets me actually use my computer. Hybrid graphics, sound and networking just work with no further configuration. That is the point of an operating system right? Software to make your hardware function the way its supposed to.

What are some of the greatest graphics cards released in the past in terms of how it pacified the competition and remained relevant after its prime?
Geforce 8800 series comes to mind. GTX had insane performance potential in 2006, and the GT's price to performance ratio was unheard of.

Which would you pick if you had to?
Alienware 17 or Razer Blade Pro?
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
My choice would really depend on the situation I'm in where I'd want to have a gaming laptop
I can only imagine the need of portability for work or school for me to want a gaymen laptop, so in that case I'd go with the Razer Blade. If I just wanted really good performance with portability as like a side thing I'd go with the Alienware 17.
Luckily I'm not in either of those positions so I don't have to spend thousands of dollars on something less powerful and upgradeable than my desktop

Razer Blade Pro, almost certainly. I've heard it's built surprisingly well. It's also thinner, lighter, and more portable. Disregarding the logo that can be covered up with a simple sticker or stylish skin/wrap, it has a nice & pleasing minimalist design overall.

I've never held a high opinion for Alienware products. Every time I've encountered/experienced one of their devices, I get the awful feeling it's nothing more than an gaudy looking, mediocre laptop that's way overpriced. And they've been pulling this shit since the early/mid 2000s

>I know the brand's owned by Dell for a few years and things change, but nah

Take my advice for what it's worth, broski.

How do I get better graphics performance with AMD on linux?

I'm using the radeon driver (open source) and everything is sluggish and shit. Arch linux XFCE

Even for example Netflix just feels laggy, hell even typing in this text box feels laggy.

Should I just install ubuntu?

Wizards assemble !

Advanced users of Unix (and I mean advanced), remember to try Source Mage GNU/Linux. True source-based distribution, and (in contrast with Gentoo and Arch) is:
Free from obfuscated and pre-configured code.
Fully committed to GPL, uses only free software (as in freedom) in their main package.
With even the documentation licensed as FDL.
Without 3rd party patches, sensible defaults or masked packages.
Doesn't need obfuscated python libraries, only bash.
Uses clean dependencies as they came from upstream developers, which by the same provides instant updates.
Can heal broken installs.
Can also use flags.

Do you like Arch Linux's AUR? Do you like Gentoo's portage (or ports-like) package manager? With SMGL's "sorcery" you get all that. Making new spells (packages) not found in the grimoire (repository) is easy http://sourcemage.org/Spell/Book

FreeBSD port http://repo.or.cz/w/grimoire-witchcraft.git

Bash hackers welcome! Come and join http://sourcemage.org/

Is there any VR program yet that would allow me to have a headless setup except for the VR where I can create and manipulate as many virtual monitors as I want?

The only one I could find similar to this was EnvelopeVR, but that seems to have fell through.

Virtual Desktop is what I use with a 4K emulator and a 4k HMD.

It's glorious.

Also, get rid of the concept of "monitors" from your head. There's no such thing as "monitors" in VR, the entire space is one big monitor.

Is liquid nitrogen cooling practical?

This is very important to me
32 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
No, because you need a constant supply of liquid nitrogen; which continually boils off.
>>
No, you lunatic
>>
If you ever had a leak in your line, you could suffocate and die.

Cooling that intense might also lead to problems with condensation inside your case.
