What are some of the greatest graphics cards released in the past in terms of how it pacified the competition and remained relevant after its prime?
Geforce 8800 series comes to mind. GTX had insane performance potential in 2006, and the GT's price to performance ratio was unheard of.

I rode the 460 for two years before it died (don't buy pallit kids) then I went back to a 9800 and actually didn't lose that much, I could still play nice games like mirror's edge and enjoyed the height of TF2 and sourcemods in between 2009-12.
