Why is there so much racism in tech?
I am African American, and almost everyone I have encountered (including people at the company where I currently work, and the university I studied at) assumes I am less capable than others. In reality, the opposite is true. I am currently a security researcher, researching methods to bypass the iOS lock screen without knowing the passcode (I will be publishing a paper soon).
I find what you are saying very hard to believe. I think you fabricated this whole story.

>This is obviously a level 9 hacking. I can tell from the screen flux, and seeing the inhibitors not responding on the computer was also a dead giveaway. Now this tells me it is a specific kind of virus, one which can only be cleaned off with an antivirus that runs from boot time (when the computer turns on). You can get one of these from gentoo.org/downloads/ Simply select an ISO file that matches your machine (which I'm going to guess is x86, minimal install), download.
>Click on the ISO image you want to burn on CD. On the top of the screen of File Explorer, click on Manage, under Disc Image Tools. Click on Burn. Select your CD-ROM as Disc burner and click on Burn.
>After this, put leave the CD in the drive, and reboot the machine. There will probably be something that flashes up as it turns on telling you which key to press to select where to boot from. It's different on lots of machines. I usually try F12, Esc, then the rest of the F number keys. When you get boot selection up select CD-Rom and boot from there.
>Follow the install instructions that come up on the screen (it's all very very simple, far simpler than this) and before you know it you will have installed Gentoo, and be free of viruses completely!
>Hope this helps.

EDC / Bag thread
>>60947062
Is it waterproof?
I'm thinking of getting a waterproof bag for my thinkpad
>>60947210
OP here. I had the bag for a number of years, while I don't know if the bag is listed as waterproof. I can say that the material is fairly decent, I used to carry an X61 and then later an X230 in it. I was never concerned about going out in the rain with this bag.
Ta/k/ticool cancer aside, can you recommend me a sturdy and functional EDC bag?

>For us, it's never been about being first in anything. If you think back, we didn't have the first MP3 player. We didn't have the first smartphone. We didn't have the first tablet. There was a tablet shipping a decade before; very few people used it. Arguably we shipped the first modern MP3 player, the first modern smartphone, the first modern tablet, but we weren't first in any of those. So for us, it's not about being first, it's about being the best
Apple doesn't claim to "invent" fundamental new technologies or entire product categories. Only dumb / jelly Apple haters believe this.
What they do is create blockbuster products from existing-yet-poorly-executed tech to disrupt and reshape markets. And history has shown time and time again that they are absolutely right about that.
>he does it for free
winbabies have been crying about apple for over a decade now. why do you care so much what device people (complete strangers I might add) are using?

Yes, your laptop could be stolen and encryption protects at least your personal data.
Just keep in mind that BitLocker is probably backdoored.

Is the AMOLED screen better than the IPS?
Maybe not in terms of longevity, but those issues are nowhere near as bad as they were a few generations ago. The screen itself is infinitely superior.
If they can solve screen burn lifespand and cost I'm in. I have a LG OLED 4K TV BTW. I am very careful what I leave on the screen.
I really wish I wouldn't have bought the Galaxy Note when it came out in 2011, because now I can't look at a screen that isn't an AMOLED. I still use my Note 3 and there isn't any burn ins or anything. Quality is superior to other devices.
