Hey /fit/, I got a withings smart analyzer (pic related) for christmas, and it's giving me a bs body fat percentage reading of 13.5%, where I am closer to 20% in my opinion, measured it with a professional body fat scale at a gym like two months back and have been bulking since then... anybody have any experience with these scales? Just wanna know if it's a bullshit device and if I can return it.

ITT: we talk about how our partners handle our /fit/ness.

My fiancée bought me pic-related on a whim, no homo.

She's very cool with my working out and she's even decided to work out too. We both work out now and discuss our routines and check each other's form and such. It's great. We both have entire sheets of paper on the fridge, counting our calories every day and writing down which days were work out days.

She bought the book semi-seriously. It does have cool illustrations and exercises, and it's all about dumbbell and barbell, which we both prefer.

I am down to 100kg atm and look ok already. I do not know how I am supposed to feel though. I would have cut down to less than 95kg, but I am afraid of getting abs.

Did I caused this by answering his questions with annoyance? I personally think that he was rude and childish, but maybe it's partly my fault for not wanting to share the machine. I just hate loading and deloading plates instead of resting.

What can I do to avoid situations like this in the future?

Not really fitness related but "The history of Rome" podcast is great if you're interested in history, as is "The history of Byzantium" which follows up the story. I also recently started listening to the "Revolutions" podcast made by the same guy as the History Rome, and it seems to be just as good.

I don't really know any non-history podcasts but these are really great even though it's not what you asked for.

I can't get myself to exercise at all. Even the thought of exercising makes me cringe. I don't know why, I have zero willpower. It's nasty as fuck, painful, and feels like I'm being torn to shreds. I remember being motivated by girls but I realized being fit isn't necessary for getting laid. So I have no idea what strategy to use.

Most of the 'happiness' is earned as a rush after we achieve something important to us (or do a line of coke or shoot heroin), but hollywood and media have blown 'happiness' up to the range of standard. Now, for normal amerifag, everything less than total happiness is unacceptible.

In ancient Greece, philosophers basically had the same term for 'happiness' and 'human growth' or 'improvement'. So, for them, it was the sharpening of your virtues which was the ultimate goal, not being in the state of dopamine rush where you don't think about anything and you don't feel anything - aka feeling 'happy'.

So try to distance yourself from pop culture a little bit. Read some philosophy. Research history. Do anything which would take you away from the sick, twisted ideals of today's hedonistic world. As long as you're improving, you're good to go. There will be time to be 'happy', there will be time and place to feel the rush. Like when you win that powerlifting competition, or when you finally get that job that you educated yourself ten years for.

Because that's what matters. 'Happiness' is just icing on a cake. And without cake... Icing tastes bland.
