I'm 6'1 240 lbs, 27. I want to get down to 190 lbs or thereabouts.
About 7 years ago went down from 240 to 200 by agressively restricting calories and intermittent fasting.

It slowly crept up in the next 7 years though.

I started lifting seriously like a month ago (was lifting casually for about 2 months before that).

Any tips on how I should handle lifting while trying to lose weight? I've been restricting calories for the last 2 weeks but haven't seen any results

I'm having trouble reaching the 15 pullup mark but I can do weighted pullups up to 5 fine

Is it better to keep doing bodyweight pullups until I increase reps and then start weighted pullups...

...Or is it better to just start low-rep weighted pullups now and increase them, then would I magically get free high rep bodyweight pullups?

No. Endurance and strength are different things. One can help the other. But they cannot replace each other.

do one day weighted, because increasing your 1rm weighted pullup will make your unweighted pullups a relatively lower percent 1rm and that alone will allow you to do more reps

do the other day unweighted and go for max reps, because grinding for max reps is an endurance thing and also has a skill component to it

Hey /fit/,

I recently, as in a few weeks ago, starting lifting hard again and brought mass gainer protein and creatine supplements into the equation.

I've felt fine, but today my friend was talking about resting heart rates because of a fitness watch she got and told me I should test mine, so I did.

I was over 100, and now I'm still at about 90. It's been almost 4 hours since the end of my workout when I took the second dose of creatine and had my protein shake. Could this be the cause of why my resting heart rate is so high?

Tl;dr: Can creatine supplements cause your resting heart rate to be abnormally high, 90-100, even hours after you've taken it?

Take lower doses or take breaks from supps like Cre.. less is more.. shock your system by stopping protein/creatine in like cycles otherwise your body gets used to it

Short answer No creatine shouldn't fuck with your heart unless your taking unhealthy amounts I take like a teaspoon a day .. pre workout can fuck with your heart tho

90-100 is just on the higher end of normal, you're fine.

there's only one thing i can think of- higher ATP stores and shit means your body's pulling more water from circulation into your muscles, lowering blood pressure, increasing heart rate. that being said, drink more water and see what happens.

Obvious bullshit. doing cardio means you can consume more calories to maintain or not to be at a deficit but IT DOES NOT increase the amount of calories as much as that graph would have you believe. Fake and gay - typical scoobs. Lol

Hey /fit/,

Just wanted to swing by and let you all know how my day started.

Got out of bed at 5:10 a.m, arrived at my local World Gym at 6 and ran into LEE PRIEST.......

I hit him up and spoke to him for a bit while he was doing Romanian Deadlifts and snapped a photo with him.

Personal trainers stated he trains every day at 6, so I guess I'll be getting up early more often. Fucking legend


So pumped to ask for a spot tomorrow while I'm doing Deadlifts

Sup, I work out 3 times a week doing a full body routine. Posting my routine here to get any suggestions on whether this is enough or if I need to add more. Every workout listed is done 5x5 on Monday, 4x5 on Wednesday and 3x5 on Friday(when I also increase every weight done since previous Friday)

Don't do a Biceps Iso exercise before a fucking pulldown/row, dam. You're not working properly on Hamstrings/glues/lower back, put a Romanian/stiff Deadlift in there, when you fell comfortable enough start practicing the deadlift and than add to your routine.

Can someone tell me how much cholesterol their MyProtein whey powders have? I've been told by customer service they'll have 220mg per serving ( as the nutritional facts on the site show this [ https://us.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/impact-whey-protein-unflavored-11lb/10852511.html ]) and I've also been told they'll have 55mg per serving. THAT'S FUCKING EXCESSIVE, JESUS CHRIST.
