I got the Teen Suicide "It's the Big Joyous Celebration, Let's Stir the Honeypot" vinyl and tried listening to it on my Linn Sondek LP12 and it sounded really slow even though its completely new. My record player is completely fine and all my other records play completely fine except this one. The record was shipped from America, could it be they aren't meant to be played on European record players? I don't know, it could be an issue with the record itself but yeah... I don't know.

That might be the solution, but if that's the case, i'm kinda fucked. I've got a LP12 and changing to 45 rpm is gonna be pretty difficult then. If it's even possible.

I've got a record player from project audio, cost about £250, and it's a belt drive with a 2 speed motor, one for 12" one for 7"
If I remember correctly the 12" rotation is like 33 1/3 rpm and the 7" is somewhere near 44-85rpm depending on its manufacturer or whether or not it's a single.
If it sounds really slow at 33 1/3rpm try bumping it up to 44.
On my it's just a motor with two gears, ita make it easy for me to move my belt, it may not be so easy for you.

Does replacing old dirt pads on a swamp cooler make it cool better? I just moved to a dry area so I'm not very experienced. Swamp cooler works great until it hits about ~105 degrees then it only makes the house tolerable. Will replacing them make it work better? The pads look pretty dirty so I'm planning to replace them anyway.

Hey /diy/, I want to make a small scale ghetto forge with what I have lying around.
So far I have:
A Large Coffee can
A Propane torch
Steel tubing
Some concrete
The place I work has pretty much every tool I need to work but I was having some trouble with the lining/refractory chamber part. Most forges I've seen or have researched use clay, ceramic wool or just plain steel, I was wondering if a coffee can with a cement lining, or mixture of cement and sand would work? I've heard some peopel saw cement is works but won't last long and other saw that cement is shit and it will fall apart or explode...
I have a propane tanks that I want to scale up to but I want to make sure I can do it first.

Concrete is trash for this, dude. Get some real refractory cement. Forges get very hot, and the point your burner flame strikes is going to get destroyed very quickly

Remember me? Had to wait 3 weeks for a part to fix the MIG rig, but progress is going on my firepit again. Pieces cut with hand plasma cutter, 1/8" hot roll steel, lots of angle grinding.

I'm in the market for a new jigsaw. I've always had corded, the one I'm currently using is an old Bosch D handle that is almost as old as I am but it's solid. It's only now that it's starting to show signs of age. I wont throw it out but I'd also like something that's cordless to make life on site a bit easier.
I have had battery jigsaws in the past but it was in the day before lithium batteries.
My question is not what brand to buy or what jigsaw, I'm going to match my current platform and the reviews I've read on those are excellent.
My question is about jigsaw type. Does anyone have much experience with barrel grip jigsaws and metal work? I've always had D handle jigsaws but as I'm using jigsaws for metal work and woodwork, I'd like something that might be easier to use for detailed work.
When I say I'm going to be cutting metal it will mostly be galv steel sheet no thicker than 3mm.

Replace the bearings. Motor brushes too if it uses them. Probably get another 30 years out of it.
As for new tools I couldn't tell you. I've got an old metal bodied Craftsman from the '60s that still worked very well. Its on its 3rd set of brushes, second set of bearings and 2nd power cord.

HI /diy/!
I want to build a table. My Idea is to get wooden board, which should be as natural as possible. Then I wnat to maul(i dont know if this is the correct word for this but I assume) it in the middle. Afterwards I want to put it back together with resin and in which are LEDs.
So my question is, if somebody has experience with resin and could give me some tips how to work with it and which i should take. I dont want he resin to be transparent, I would like it to be milky. But not to milky that the LED light cant get trough.

I'm working on a crt monitor project which involves painting and customizations.
This particular monitor has an indented logo that I want to remove / fill in to a smooth finish.
Idk the specific type of plastic this monitor is made of , but I'm willing to bet it's abs plastic.
What is the best way to fill this logo in?
My research is coming up short.
I already know not to use Bondo because it's like fiberglass shit that will flake off over the plastic.
I'm unsure if simply using any random epoxy will do.
I've heard that taking spare plastic and adding acetone to it to melt it into a slurry paste, but I'm afraid it'll melt/damage the monitor.
What do?
Everything I find is related to vehicles and patching holes. I'm literally just trying to fill in a gap.

Hi /diy/, first time poster here.
/mu/'s guitar general couldn't really help me so I hope this topic is appropriate for this board.
Anyway, I have a Gibson Les Paul with a chip on one of the corners of the headstock. The corner is supposed to be pointed. However, because of the chip, it appears chamfered and looks ugly up close. I don't have the broken piece anymore (bought it used for cheap)
What are some ways I can restore the headstock? I heard tinted super glue works with small surface chips but I'm not sure if it applies here.

You will have to rebuild the corner with bondo and then sand it down to shape and refinish it, or you can learn to live with it and treat it as "wear", personally I'd go with the latter as I find refinishing work to be a pain in the ass.
Go check out "Daves world of fun stuff" on YouTube, he covers a lot of this sort of stuff.

So attached is my little swamp cooler. The moist evap pad surrounds the fan intake and outputs coldish air. However it doesn't really work very well. I'd have to hold the thing, and point it at my face 3 inches away to really cool off. So I'm wondering if these thing can be altered to work better, or if you guys have a better idea for DIY car ac. What do you think?

There are holes drilled in the sides and back of the cooler. But there isn't enough intake, so I've been using it with the lid open and hoping that the pad surrounding the fan intake is enough. The fan itself takes in air from the sides and back.
