I keep a half frozen 1 gallon container of water on the carpet next to my bed to drink during the night. An sometimes next to the couch if my gf stays over. I can't sleep in the same bed with her, i have to sleep by myself.

I've been doing this routine for 5 years. But recently spilled about a gallon of water next to my bed, and next to the couch when I was passed out drunk or my covers knocked it over in the night.

I tried cleaning my carpet with those carpet cleaners you rent from the grocery store and it smelled nice the first day but the stink is back again.

It smells like feet/mildew and is only coming from the two exact spots i spilled a gallon of water. An it's not my feet or my gf's, I'm positive.

How do i get rid of this smell? It's driving me insane

It is from the mold and becteria that the water gave life to, you will need to lift the carpet and scrape off the caked on becteria on the floor, and full strength bleach or other stuff to nuke the area, and then... stop spilling
>>
>>1016368
The smell is never going to fully go away until you stop letting moisture infiltrate the area.

First thing first, if absolutely must continue to leave it on the floor then you need to devise a way to keep the condensation from running into the carpet. A cheap plastic tray from the dollar store of some shape should work just fine.

Second mix up at a 2:1 ratio a mixture of distilled water and distilled white vinegar into a clean spray bottle. Theres no point making it warm like most guides suggest since it works just fine ice cold too.

Spray the area lightly, enought to wet it, but not enough to soak it. Let sit for a few minutes and scrub clean with a towel. Get all of the moisture out as you can.

Sprinkle baking soda over the area, lightly beush into the fibers and let sit overnight. Vacuum thoroughly in the morning.

To help beat back anything that might try to take hold again mix up equal amounts of TSP in the RED BOX, washing soda from the laundry aisle, and any oxiclean or equivalent powder.

Mix into a loose paste. Test for color fastness in an inconspicuous spot before proceeding.

With a wet sponge and gloves work a portion into the pile of the carpet. Mist with distilled water if the area dries out on you. The goal is to try and get the salts worked into the fibers of the carpet where the bacteria and mold will hide.

Allow to dry with a fan to speed it along. This solution is used quite succesfully to inhibit mold growth on boat sails being stored for the winter. Its slightly caustic so be careful with your skin and eyes.

It's a good choice
>>
I was looking at a similar one for regular home soldering and stuff because it looks neat and has a lot of features for only $100
>>
>>1016344

As much as everyone shits on the cheap chinese soldering stations, I have an 852D+ and it works great.

That being said, there's some issue with it that can give you a tingle if you're suitably grounded...

Thank fucking god im not the only one who gets this.

Anyone who wants to build any domocile needs to just get a copy of this shit. It walks you through every calculation you need from footing depth and width, to framing, and roof load.

Get it, read it, study it, learn it.

Hey guys, I know you still interest in those things and I know you can help me with my new project. I want to make a new sound system for my working laboratory which allow sound experience: I want to use a processor (IMX6L) and some DAC/amplifier (TAS5760M) embedded in each speaker box to drive them. The ULTIMATE purpose is to manage the EQ and volume of each speaker via I2S.

Here on the next picture is my electronic arch, I got in hands the I2C configuration with a beautiful Nucleo F303 code. And I know how to send data to the DAC/Amplifier with an audio precision tool. I have to manage my time to produce double sided PCB and make those 5 little boards (currently using a bad looking prototype). Lets say this part is quite OK.

Here is my asking:
I 'm not very good devellopper myself but I really want to do this project, what piece of software (linux style of course) do you know (as ALSA for example) that could allow me to:
1) route three configurable I2S output on IMX6?
2) manage EQ and volume on them?

I'd like to make pixel art using beads and sell the fuck out of them.
The problem is, I'll probably need to buy beads in bulk for every color, and it's expensive.

Is there any way I can make my own beads or is there a better alternative?

These cocksuckers right here.

How can I snap these bastards off without dashing my knuckles across the wall every god damned time?

Hammer claw doesn't fit in the loop, and I'm not really open to the idea of grinding the tines down to make it fit.

15" adjustable wrench worked fine for snapping them off, but fuck me if I didn't end up taking a few layers of skin off my knuckles.

There must be a better tool for this. I had to break roughly 500 today, and next week after the next pour, I'm probably looking at another 500-1000 depending on how much we get done.

Help me /diy/. Help me to maintain my sanity.

>TL;DR: Is there a tool specifically for breaking these fucking things?

>>
Bolt cutter?
>>
>>1015660
Yes and no. It would take off the loop for sure, but the idea is to twist the end so that it snaps the tie behind or inside the cone so that the cone can be removed, leaving a hole that can be filled.

Using bolt cutters would leave some of tie flush or proud of your wall, fucking up your finish.

So my poulan chainsaw is giving me hell.

It was sitting on a shelf for over 5 years. I replaced all the fuel lines, spark plug, air filter and fuel filter.

The chainsaw starts with starting fluid but doesn't stay running.

I disassembled the carb and it was very clean like the saw didn't see much use ( I inherited it , so i don't know) , the diaphragm was also still flexible and in working order.

Not sure what else to check. Any ideas?

put marvel mystery oil in the gas and oil ( a bit not to much), and let it work it's way in. pull the cord and let it run as long as it can.
>>
make sure the new fuel line isnt kinked in the gas tank pinching off flow. You may have installed it too far. If not, carb. bowl needs to be drained or carb, cleaned. Should be a drain screw somewhere on the carb.
>>
Clean out the carb with carb cleaner.

It might look clean but all it takes is one tiny blocked passage and that's it. After sitting there is probably varnish in there

Hey /diy/, after a domestic dispute with my stepdad regarding what I can and can't do with the household, the mailbox in pic related got punched so there's some damage to it.

Don't know what kind of material it's made of, but if you punch it, it is dented and it can look like it has a rip.

Is it possible to fix or am I fucked and I gotta spend another 15 dollars to get a new one?

I am going to be staying on a farm for a while and was told to build a cabin.
I am looking for some ideas (dimensions, styles), tips, links (free plans) or anything that can be of assistance.
I'm not sure of the dimensions but it should be small as is it just for shelter and sleeping.. no kitchen or bath. It should also be cheap.
They told me to look into "pole buildings."
I have no experience with such a task so anything will help.

If I were you I would go for a simple flat roofed shed with a 2x4 frame clad in ply if longevity isn't an issue otherwise clad in larch or similar.
It's easy to do, takes little time and is relatively inexpensive.
>>
why on earth isn't there a sticky for small buildings already!?

long enough to be making a permanent structure? is it meant to be permanent?

insulation? roofing? siding? floor? windows?
>>
>>1014367
It could become permanent, I'm sure that they will keep it up after i'm gone and if I return maybe I'll add onto it.
There won't be any insulation or flooring other than plywood. I'm sure the roof will be something basic for now like plywood. Other than a door there might be a window.

I live in a apartment and I am bored out of my mind. I wanted to get a hobby but most interesting hobbies require a work space. Apartments are limited and you can't use things that are fire hazards. Like I had a interest in glass working but that requires obviously a torch and that isn't happening in a apartment.

What are some other similar hobbies i could try that are apartment friendly?

Square cages don't work well with round things. I'm sure you're trolling, but on the off chance that you aren't, redesign it round, home depot has small round steel rod already made for the bars, and make sure you make it a clamp style closer.

I came into a birch edge glued slab, ment for a work bench. Is is 27"x 60" x 2".

I want to turn it into a coffee table but that dimension feels too wide.

Should i rip it along a glue line, down to 20" using my skill saw?
9 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Just cut it shorter.
>>
Size seems fine to me. But if you do want it narrower, aim your cut an 1/8" on the waste side and then sand down the rest.
>>
>>1016978
Before cutting you might consider if (and how) the cut-off pieces can be used.
