Reminder that small oily fish such as wild Atlantic sprats are the healthiest food you can eat.

>"but they taste bad"

Buy higher quality/more expensive ones that are smoked. 10/10 taste. Add hot sauce.

I'm going to go on record here to say that vegetables are actually healthier.

Reminder that people before the modern age subsisted mostly on vegetables and were lucky to live to 50. Reminder that chimps eat almost entirely fruits and vegetables and have a life expectancy in the early thirties.

/ck/ help, I've lost all drive to cook. I just keep making frozen stuff with rice cause it's easy.

What's something that tastes good, makes a bunch of servings, but doesn't require too much effort.

Pork belly, side of asparagus and parsnip mashed potatoes. It's oven work and a couple of side dishes. Simply don't start the sides until you're 30 minutes deep in the oven and all the real work will be about 20 minutes assuming you're good with a knife.

TIPPING ETIQUETTE QUESTION

Should I tip when I'm picking up a take-out order? I currently don't, but whenever I sign the receipt the waitress/cashier waits in anticipation and when I cross out the tip section they get all moody.

Am I in the wrong here? To me it just seems like ALL waitresses feel super entitled when they literally do fucking nothing.

Nope. Tipping is for table service.
>>
Tipping is optional by definition so if you never tip you should be okay.

I've never cooked before, I'm terrified of burning the place down. How do I get over my fear and learn to cook?
17 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>9103810

Understand that it's impossible for the place to burn down. You're standing there in the kitchen. You're not playing with your phone or dealing with any other distractions. If the unlikely event of an accident happens, then you're there to take care of it before it becomes a problem.

What's there to worry about?
>>
>>9103810

Hi anons, i've just bought honey, from my dealer, i always like to buy honey from small producers, with some piece of wax once in a while, on the left (whiter one) made from a hive in a wheat field, the other one from a hive on a chia field, both heavily cristalized (pure honey does that) and really different in taste. I love the differences between honey from different crops. How's the honey situation for you anon? where do you get your honey? do you like it cristalized or liquid? also honey general

>>
My nigga! I always bring 3-4kg of honey each time I visit my family in the country.
Not sure about the type of field they eat but it something similar to that picture.
I'll post a pic later
>>
I have a trucker friend who always brings honey back from his trips. I mostly use it for baking, replacing sugar.
The other day I made pasteli for the first time, ridiculously cheap and ridiculously delicious. Got rid of like half my honey with it
>>
That looks delicious argentinabrah.

Im from canarias and the situation here with honey and cheese has blown lately because we are getting international attention. Honeys here tend to be liquid and sweeeet, like really, similar to mediterranean ones, really good to make arab pastries if you have sweet tooth. We have all kinds: orange, eicaliptus, thyme.... Im still waiting for dill honey tho for making the ultimate salmon aghaghagha.

If I eventually live here Ill probably get some cute bees. When I see them with polen in their tiny feet they enlight my soul, dont know why, so cute.

y'all ever cook with a sink? pic related making ramen

Is there any chance of me being a respectable sushi chef if I am white? It seems like a beautiful form of cooking but maybe only reserved to the Japanese... are there any white sushi chefs on here?

If you go to Japan and train under a sushi chef, you will gain credibility. Be warned for you'll have to go through the apprentice system and you'll be washing rice for the first couple years before you can even touch the fish, with the whole process taking anywhere between 5-10 years. If you do succeed, you'll be given right to passage to open your own shop and even get referrals from the chef you trained under

>Learn to make sushi
>Hiro-sensei made me wash rice for 3 years

Fucking nips, get on with the program
>>
>>9103139
I'm trained, yes. The "12 years to be a sushi chef" thing is bullshit. Sure, there are people who still cling to that but that's a dying practice. Any more you're fine with a year under your belt learning from someone with experience. I myself did it for two years, and acquired approval from a chef of 25 years, born and bred Japanese.

If you're really interested, make sure you have kitchen experience, practice a bit at home maybe, and go looking for people willing to train. Simple as that.
