I gotchu senpai
Preheat oven to 500 degrees F
1. Take 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon baking soda and combine. Chill at least 1 hour
2. add 1 tbsp oil, 1/4 c powdered milk and 1 cup water to mixture and stir until a shaggy dough forms
3. in another small bowl, mix molasses, 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup golden syrup and the juice of one lemon, chill at least one hour or overnight.
4. add enough flour to dough mixture to be able to form with hands and not stick. Spread dough out like you would a pizza crust
5. take syrup mixture and spread across the dough until evenly dispersed, then place in the oven and bake for 12 minutes.
6. Take out and let cool before you chow down on your dank lemon pizza pie.
Can somebody PLEASE do this so I can see if I have a knack for writing recipes?
So I tried making a simple sauce.
After searing a pork tenderloin and getting it in the oven, I threw some garlic in the pan for a few seconds then deglazed with some red wine, then put a little worcestershire sauce, deli mustard, and cumin in there and reduced.
It wasn't TERRIBLE on it's own but it definately clashed with my pork, was definately too sweet and a bit sour.
Next time I might just make a simple roux in the drippings and add some vegetable or chicken stock.
What techniques do you guys have for making simple pan sauces?
>>9111825
Why add garlic before deglazing?
BTW its own, not it's own
Cook stuff, create fond, deglaze, reduce... pan sauce. Maybe add some lemon juice and a few capers.
>>9111833
Wanted to get the garlic a bit more fragrant, I only threw it in for like 15 seconds before pouring the wine, then crushed it into the sauce.
What liquids do you recommend? Red wine was just too sweet
>>9111841
what kind of wine did you use?
if it was too sweet you probably had a pinot or something, a cab would likely be more to your tastes
that aside, my fav pan sauce
>1tbs bacon grease
>shallot
>red wine
>butter
any oil/grease will do but I prefer bacon, make sure there's only 1 tablespoon worth in the pan
add chopped shallot
sautee
reduce heat
deglaze w/ red wine
reduce red wine until sauce is no longer watery
reduce heat again
add a big fucking knob of butter
work it until you have nice texture smooth texture with the proper amount of body
>WA LA
anyone have experience using hard liquor to deglaze in a pan sauce? was thinking of using tequila but i chickened out at the last minute
This grew in a cup long forgotten in my game room. What dish can I make from this gift Mother Nature has given me?
If dubs drink all of it
A roux.
Make cheese
Is there a better way to combine curry and rice? Next pic will be the plating...

Does anyone here own an RV or only have a mini fridge? I currently live in an RV, and it's great, no complaints. I cook regularly but was wondering if you guys and gals had any tips on stocking it up? I'm finding I'm having to go to the store more often because I don't have a lot of fridge space. Any tips or tricks? Best way to organize a mini fridge to maximize space? Camping meal ideas? Etc.
>>9108535
I live in an RV too. I don't have any organizing tips other than don't buy things you won't eat or use up since space is so limited. Get some good containers. Utilize your grill as much as possible. Eat leftovers if your into that. My fridge is packed. I can get about 7-10 days worth of meals in there though. I don't know how it fits. I have to rearrange the damn fridge and freezer anytime I need anything that's not in the front. It's precariously stuffed and stacked. Hope you get some replies.
>>9108584
Better pic of just the fridge. Unfortunately I can't show you the stuff in the back of the fridge. It's hidden by everything else in there.
Canned vegetables, canned fish/chicken, dry beans, rice, etc. Keep certain foods out of the fridge if they can handle it like apples or tomatoes. Reserve fridge space for leafy greens and leftovers.
I tried going vegan for two weeks once, and it honestly gave me the best bowel movements of my life
not even meeming. I eat meat now, but I sorta look fondly to the switch in diet. why aren't y'all trying this?
Do NOT use a picture of Annie and at the same time mention bowel movements in your post ever!!
>>9106631
>>9106631
I went veg fora few weeks last summer, was good. Downsides are eating with family and being "that guy". I also ate a lot more on account of me always feeling hungry, but a big part of that was probably my dislike of nuts/beans which are very filling.
All in all I'd recommend it and may even do it again.
>>9106631
I've been trying it for 7 years now. And will continue trying it the rest of my life. All my favorite foods are vegan and animal products don't fucking compare. Such an easy switch. I know I'm going to trigger a bunch of neckbeards when I say this but all the meat alternatives and dairy alternatives have improved the taste of meat and dairy. I never genuinely liked the tastes of meat and dairy but ate it purely because it was all around me and my retarded mom always said I needed meat for protein. It's been so liberating going vegan because I don't feel obligated to eat nasty food anymore. Also learned some awesome baking and cooking methods in the process - things I never would have considered doing that I like way fucking more than what I used to eat. Example: Banana and peanut butter in place of eggs in chocolate chip cookies.
Do /ck/ like Kombucha?
>>9112629
Yeah it's pretty good. Most have a lot of sugar so they aren't miracle health food but it tastes good.
>>9112629
WARNING FOR THOSE IN TEXAS:
State law requires all alcohol-containing drinks sold on grocery store shelves to be 100% accurate in ABV listing!
This means Kombucha sold in Texas grocers can't have any live organisms, due to ongoing fermentation from the organisms increasing while they are alive. This means all the Kombucha you buy in Texas grocery stores is dead. That's right -- the bottles of Kombucha you buy on Texas grocery store shelves contain nothing but dead organisms.
If they were alive the ABV would go up as the fermentation process continued. Thus, they have to be shelved until dead, then measured for ABV, THEN shipped to stores.
Blame Texas lawmakers, not producers! Texas is the only state like this!
>>9112676
Fermentation is a repeatable algorithm though. You could easily show that by having a low enough content of sugar the abv will never rise above x percentage. This makes me question your claim.
Your thoughts?
something's going to get overcooked
it looks a little underdone
Cook it first
What are some healthy foods for lunch? Please, I'd like as many recommendations as possible thank you
>>9111922
salads
goulash soup
sandwiches
crudités
fruits
don't eat french fries, or big roasts, or lots of filling side dish, or cake, it will make you full and tired
>>9111922
Can't go wrong with boneless skinless chicken. And drink water or something without a lot of sugar
>>9111922
I like a big salad topped with a drained can of albacore tuna (tuna in water, not oil). Can use normal canned tuna as well.
I load a plate/bowl with fresh spinach (lettuce is OK as part of a salad, but don't make it an iceburg lettuce salad, that lettuce is only good for hydration; iceburg has virtually no nutritional value) and add chopped tomato, onions, mushrooms, olives, plus shredded cheese and a pretty big dusting of sunflower, sesame, and chia seeds. Plus whatever dressing I'm fond of.
I keep cans of tuna in the fridge at home for this; I like chilled tuna on my salad and on my sandwiches (unless I'm making a tuna grilled cheese or something).
Salad + tuna = filling and healthful
All right /ck/. Are you ready to go on a culinary adventure?
First we prepare our mise en place.
>>9111828
A fucking turkey and cheese sandwich on shitty bread from a plastic bag? No thanks.
>>9111828
Now we melt about half a tablespoon of butter in a pan on medium low heat. Ideally we would spread butter directly onto the bread, but life is hard.
>>9111837
Just you wait, this is going to be a single half step above the average sandwich.
Wiggle the bread a bit while you add it to the pan so the butter coats the bread more evenly.

Does culinary school teach management/logistics, or just the same shit uneducated women used to know?
>>9111719
You need to suffer and build experience in order to get a better job. That goes for many fields.
thanks to chef ramsay i just found out that you should use warmer water when you burn your hands rather than cold
i quickly googled it and saw that studies show its better for your skin to do that as well because it keeps blood flow and allows the skin to repair itself vs cold/ice
Maybe but it doesn't feel as nice.
Or you can just not be a giant pussy and shake it off.
>>9111694
No fucking shit , if you suddenly introduce cold to your skin , you will shock it causing it to blister
Ok, I need your help.
Friend and I are going on a seaside for 7 days. We are staying at my cousin place so we have fully equipt kitchen. Idea is to save even more money by making our food.
Most importantly we want to make our own bread. We are fucking south slavs and we need a lot of it. So, how to do it? How not to fuck up too much?
Any ideas for other food?
Thanks!

FUCKING MACHINES edition
Our sheeter broke at my small bakery, and we are essentially fucked for the weekend, because all baking equipment comes from fucking Europe! On the bright side, I can afford the mini vacation.
Any other coo/ck/s or ba/ck/ers out there have to deal with critical mechanical failure? Also, how are y'all doing?
>>9111550
Man up and break out the rolling pins, you fucking fag.
Did tour catering for about 4 years....we cooked off a 53 foot semi truck converted into a kitchen and I've seen everything from generators on the truck totally breaking down and no option of shore (plugging tails into the venue itself) resulting in cooking in a pitch dark hot semi on Coleman camping stoves....to opening up the semi to every plate on our plate rack shattered...being so cold outside that our 10# cans were frozen solid to so hot it read 138 in the semi trying to make whipped cream. To being docked at a venue at crazy angles and trying to bake cakes....ama
>>9111553
Ok here, I agree with you totally son. Baking is fucked that way, the amount of labor we would have tonspend on hand rolling dough would probably screw us. It really makes you respect the original French motherfuckers.
