Hey /ck/,
I have a dilemma. My roommate loves food but he just started cook. I have worked in a couple of kitchens so I know enough about cooking. I don't want to feel like an ass hat always teaching him because that screws with the dynamic.
So tldr, should I stop trying to help my roommate become a better cook because he is already happy with what he makes?
P.S. He likes to press the spatula to what ever meat he is cooking so it makes a sizzle noise.

I finally did it right for the first time tonight.
Garlic, ginger, onion, green onion.
Cold rice.
Oyster sauce and soy sauce mixed together.
Chicken thighs.
Peas.
Pretty tasty.. even though I forgot the carrots. I think the ginger really added a lot of depth to it.

I fried my onions in peanut oil after precooking my chicken in pepper oil, then tossed the onions before I threw the rice in. I also added chicken bouillon and a bit of sweet curry powder to the rice when I made it a few days ago. Then once I put the rice into the oil and let it fry a bit I threw in the carrots, peppers, peas, and chicken. After this I added chili garlic sauce, ginger, soy sauce, fish sauce, some red curry paste, and a dab more chicken bouillon to it with a bit more peanut oil and let it fry at high heat for ~10 minutes (I think). Wa-la.

I get where you're coming from with the cocktail. But, you'll be out in the sun doing physical activity and drinking liquor... tubing calls for beer. Get an extra tube and float an ice chest.
