>drinking soylent
that was your first mistake
Why would you drink Soylent anyway? Ensure tastes so much better. They make a great dessert. Speaking of, what's /ck/'s favorite meal "replacement" drink?

Hey /ck/ I like to pick up issues of pic related once in awhile and follow I them on Facebook, I feel like they share pretty useful info but I'm kind of a noob . What are other /ck/ approved magazines, websites, etc.?
For general recipes and techniques, I mostly use BBC Good Food, Serious Eats, and Food Wishes on youtube. Also Cooking with Dog for moon recipes and Rasa Malaysia for Indonesian stuff.
>>9255341
I love Cook's Illustrated.
Tons of great content, I save each edition because they're full of useful information.
>>9255453
If you're cooking based on what you can get at an American supermarket Cook's is very useful.
What recipes can mango chutney be used for, have you any experience?
Pic related, have one open jar in the fridge. How long do you think it'll last?
use it like salsa
>>9255131
Rarely eat anything with salsa, desu

Eat with fried poppadoms or put a bit on your plate if your indian curry is too hot.

Do you get your groceries delivered?
Figured it was a meme but I swear to God whenever I do shop I either forget something, they don't have something/s I want or I end up buying a bunch of shit I don't need.
Considering doing it.
>>9254802
>Figured it was an element of a culture or system of behaviour passed from one individual to another by imitation or other non-genetic means.
Cretin.
>>9254802
I've done it a bunch
Pros
>super convenient, can have everything delivered within the hour if you want or plan sometime later
>delivery people have a set checklist to go through so they're only going to get what you put on the list and it's extremely unlikely they'll forget something
>since they do this shit for a job they'll have little carts to carry stuff in, cold and hot bags to keep everything temperature appropriate and whatever else is needed
>have an app to quickly look through what the store has and it's much much easier to keep in a budget since you can see the prices and total for everything right there and adjust till satisfied
Cons
>costs a decent amount more. There's a monthly/yearly fee depending on what you use so that's like an extra $9 a month, plus there's a 10-15% addition on the total of whatever you get and you'll "need" to tip. And there's a delivery fee too on small orders which might be a problem if you want frequent small ($20) trips to get fresh stuff a lot. It's still overall cheaper than getting stuff from a Walmart, gas station, or fast food place though
>While having it all in an app is cool the app doesn't have everything. It can be missing a lot of stuff the store could have especially if it's seasonal so you'd need to specifically know the store has something in order to ask for it
>communication has it's limits. If the store doesn't have something on your list, the shopper can only really send a handful of replacement options through text so you can't just leisurely browse for something else
>also since it is someone else getting your groceries the quality will very. You might get someone grumpy who doesn't bother notifying you well or doesn't take good care of the groceries. You can always adjust their tip and rating from it but still
>you have to interact with them and possibly let someone into your house to take groceries in. How awful
Overall pretty positive, would recommend if you don't mind paying a bit more.
Would u like an apple pie wit dayyyt

More juice or more ice?
Traveling to madrid soon.
What and where do i eat?
Best street food? Best local stuff to look for?
Im into trying anything if its good.
They have a kind of spicy salami with hazelnut in it, that's worth trying
>>9254550
Go to El Tigre and just get beer and tapas. They'll take care of you.
>>9254550
there's not really any street food of note in spain. Just walk into a bar (there's hundreds of them), lokk at the counter andd order the most appetising-looking item and a caƱa. Make sure you bar hop regularly. Eat and drink until full then keep on drinking.
There are people right now that would rather shop at whole foods or sprouts or whatever and pay 4 times as much than buy stuff at walmart.
I call them morons.
There is literally nothing wrong with Walmart.
I never buy groceries at walmart, everything costs more, especially fresh produce.
Go to a mexican supermarkets, they don't gouge you like white people supermarkets. (eg. safeway, whole foods)
In fact, I can't even remember the last time I went to a walmart for the express purpose of buying something because it was cheaper.
Nearly everything I buy regularly can be found cheaper elsewhere.
Walmart may be cheaper for what they have, but they don't have most of the stuff I want. I mostly shop at Nugget. Whole Foods is pretty nice, but way overpriced. A Sprouts opened by me a few months ago and they're pretty small and niche, but does have a few things you can't find at other places (Usinger's Braunschweiger, for example).
For cheap shit I mostly go to Asian grocery stores (not even a weeb, or whatever, but if you're not shopping at your local ethnic market, you're the real moron). For the kind of national brand stuff you can find at Walmart I'd rather go to Target any day.

Damn nigga whats wrong with your 1995 computer
Give me a good recipe for Cannoli, /ck/
>>9254381
cannoli is always better bought from the pros. They're cheap too.
>>9254385
That's the problem. You can't get cannoli anywhere here. That's why I'm looking into making them myself.
>>9254381
Ive made the Alex Guarnaschelli shell and filling recipe off Food Netwrok a few times, and they come out exceptional.
>friend scolds me for eating McDs, swears they can make better burgers
>allow them to try
>overcooked beef and not properly seasoned
>Kraft cheese tasting like milk
>raw non toasted bun
People can't do food as good ad McD
This is a lazy shitpost but most people actually can't cook a burger at least as decent as mcshits
>>9254289
>>friend scolds me for eating McDs, swears they can make better burgers
your friend has been kicked in the gonads more than once in his life
> complaining about those things when McDs is the exact same but with even worse ingredients
I haven't used a chaser and I am drunker than usual. Tell me my brothers, is this normal for you too? I've felt like my pounding beers have been for nothing. I know this is a bad start to the whiskey family but I LOVE sipping.
>>9254222
How much have you had to eat today? The amount of food in your stomach (or lack thereof) can manipulate how alcohol affects you.
