What's your best recipe for mushroom soup?
nothing beats one singular mushroom in a bowl of milk
>>9267272
That's a mushroom in sauce. Milk does not qualify as a broth.

Looks delicia.
Sup /ck/ I'm here to learn how to make mead. I have no prior experience making any fermented drinks, so i really dont know what i'm doing. Where do i start? What should i use?

A carboy like your photograph depicts is pretty much necessary (I say pretty much, because you could use brew-pails, or really any container that would seal with an airlock).
You want honey and soft water - you can use distilled, but you may/will want to add a tiny bit of calcium and magnesium salts to keep the yeasts in a happy pH zone, with some electrolytes to help them stay hydrated.
A mead-specific yeast is your best bet, but really any reasonably low-phenol, high-temp, high-tolerance yeast should do the trick.
Really all you should need at that point is honey. I've had good results sticking to a beer-brewing kind of bill - about 10lbs of honey for 5 gals of final product (so about 6-6.5 gals of water to start).
There are resources out there. Even something like the Brewer's Friend app can be indispensable.

>get some wine
>stir some honey in
done.
If you had to give up one food or ingredient for the rest of your life, what will it be?
Saffron.
Paprika.
What the fuck is it for it just tastes like dirt.
Something that's pretty much useless, like rhubarb or rutabagas.
I've been to the same store maybe seven, maybe eight times already. Always looking at the cheese selection with lots of koreans around me....sort of strange there's so many koreans in this neck of the woods....maybe there's development happening idk. Basil, oregano... lots of herbs costing me a fortune. But the Indian store also stocks a lot of herbs. I don't like Indian. Hmm, buying grog next door I usually get some sort of Red...... not too expensive not too cheap.....maybe the girlfriend would like it? She's been out of my life for 5 years now but it's still a thought I had. Not that it matters when I've drunk the whole thing 5 cigarretes later.....maybe watch a bit of netflix. This is friday night we are talking about. Saturday is more or less the same. I've ordered pizza, mcdonalds, kfc all delivered to my door late at night. Probably tried everything on the menu but..... think pizza is still the best. Kfc gives me the shits. Also trying to find something watch and sometimes I just watch youtube..... compilations of stuff you wouldn't believe. Arctic videos. Cringe. It goes on. But around 4am I'll be in bed anyway. Weird halllucinations maybe. A couple of pork chops down the road and I've got myself tomorrow's dinner... filipino girl next to me buying some sirloin. I want to but really....I can't. Not today anyway. She leaves and waggles her butt out the door. Just seeing and wondering. Whatever. Pork, potatoes, beans, carrots and french fries? I didn't make em. Just ordered and it took 20 minutes after food was ready. Pork is chewy so I didn't cook it right. Going to the park and wishing I had maybe a pet or something. Might see the kids soon but not sure if I have to go away for work next fortnight or the week after.... I'll find out. Going to make coffee now (milk + cinammon)
You said it all, brother.
Anyone else had their leek taste absolutely horrible?? And I don't mean past sell date, it just smelled and tasted like burning plastic or something
Did it come wrapped in plastic wrap and you forgot to take it off?
>>9266778
leeks taste fucking great, it's like onion without the sharp overpowering taste
I started cooking not so long ago and I don't really know where to go with it, so I have just been making stir fry constantly.
I know how to do reaaaally basic things with chicken, beef, and pasta. Where do I go from there?
Stuff should everybody know how to make (and preferably is cheap) thread

Learn to make a decent hot breakfast. Eggs however you like them, bacon, sausage, or ham, toast or biscuits, oatmeal or cream of wheat.
Learn to make a couple pasta sauces. There's plenty of decent marinara sauces on the market, so don't worry about standing around stirring the Sunday gravy for an hour, but at least learn to do a basic alfredo, a basic garlic-wine sauce, and maybe a basic pesto.
Learn to make soups, stews, and chili. They're easy, cheap, nutritious, delicious, and you can make them in bulk, eat for a couple days, and then freeze portioned-out bags for later.
Keep some basic seasoning blends around the house. Italian, taco seasoning, herbs de Provence, Cajun-Creole blackening, and maybe some Montreal steak seasoning will give you some variety.
Learn to cook a steak to temperature.
Learn to make a roux (equal parts flour and fat, whether it be butter or melted animal fat). Once you can make a roux, you can learn your Mother Sauces.
marinating
how long to cook a meat based on its temp / thickness
cooking things in a particular order due to different heat requirements. if you do stir fry im sure you already do this.
Learn to make:
- A loaf of bread
- Noodles from scratch
- Tortillas from scratch
- A chicken roast
- Preserved food (sourkraut, pickled veggies, jam)
- Chili
- Stock
I cannot seem to figure out what one of these things is called. It's an 1/8" thick as fuck pot that we use exclusively to cook rice.
Closest I got was "Dutch oven", but those seem to be thinner.
This is made out of cast steel, probably stainless. 9" diameter, 3" high.
stockpot / pot
I got bored and reproduced it in a CAD application.
>>9266770
Well, that doesn't really help me find this particular variety of pot.
Suppose I tried to go online and find it, that shit's impossible.
I'm moving soon and I think I'd benefit from having a thicc pot for various purposes, but I doubt the place I'm going to will just have random Asian stores that stock thicc pots.
i think im developing a fetish for my knives, i sharpen them every day and i have thought about cutting stuff i dont need just so i can use them, sometimes i hold one while i browse 4chan because i love the way it feels in my hand

Ok anons I need a little bit of help, I'm 21 years old today and it's my first time drinking rum it's 40% alc/vol and it's 80 proof. I'm at home. How much of it can I drink to make me tipsy, I'm also going to eat while I drink, and I'll dilute the run in Dr. Pepper.
do americans REALLY do this?
Try 2-3 ounces of liquor per 12 ounce glass, with three ice cubes and fill the rest of the glass with your Dr Pepilepsy. One glass should have you feeling a bit nice, maybe two for tipsy. But be CAREful. Don't get fucked up unless you're planning on it. You are a precious babby.
>>9266612
Follow me on this, because there's some complicated math involved.
You need to drink until you feel tipsy, OP.
Were you expecting a serious answer? Body weight, meals eaten, family history and genetics, personal tolerance all affect how you'll react to alcohol.
What's a good food chain that delivers and is cheap?
McDonald's

>hear about butter chicken and think it's some sort of rich, sweet chicken dish
>actually some nasty indian curry shit
I was a little disappointed.
>>9265973
butter chicken is alright but not as good as lamb vindaloo
the only thing i'd like to eat in that video is her
is obviously eating takeout steak in your car with plastic fork and Cold Steel knife.
Bonus points to the first anon to guess the restaurant correctly.
