Does anyone here use cast iron teapots? Do you use them as kettles? Brewing teapots?

> inb4 epic le cast iron meehm desu senpai

I don't think cast iron is a very good material for teapots though. It's nice for cookware (in my opinion), but it doesn't have real benefits (except for aesthetics I suppose) in teapots.

Clay is a nice material for teapots.
But glass is fine too. I like being able to see how the tea is steeping inside the pot.

Also, kettles are a waste of time/gas. Just get an electric water boiler (with temperature control if you're serious).
>>
>>7248711
They retain both flavour and heat, which are both beneficial to tea brewing.

But it is pointless to use one of these for heating water.
>>
>>7248717
Clay has the same flavor retention abilities.
I suppose you have a point with the heat. Although it would be annoying that you can't just place it on your table after brewing without getting burn marks on it.

>Exposure, plain and simple. Scientists tell us that aversions fade away when we eat moderate doses of the hated foods at moderate intervals, especially if the food is complex and new to us. (Don't try this with allergies, but don't cheat either: few of us have genuine food allergies.) Exposure works by overcoming our innate neophobia, the omnivore's fear of new foods that balances the biological urge to explore for them. Did you know that babies who are breast-fed will later have less trouble with novel foods than those who are given formula? The variety of flavors that make their way into breast milk from the mother's diet prepares the infant for the culinary surprises that lie ahead. Most parents give up trying novel foods on their weanlings after two or three attempts and then complain to the pediatrician; this may be the most common cause of fussy eaters and finicky adults--of omnivores manqués. Most babies will accept nearly anything after eight or ten tries.

You begin to actually retain memories once you're weened off breast milk.

Are you a toddler who's just discovered eggs poached in chicken broth by any chance?

What is all of this? Poached eggs in chicken broth?

Will this dish reignite my passion for eggs again?

I used to make eggs in every shape and form and eventually I just got sick of all those eggs.

Have you tried seasoning them?
If you split them in fourths when you fry them, you can season each quadrant individually. If you do this enough you'll become a Master of Spices.

i just want to vent. my dad bought a couple of filets of beef, and decided to put them in the freezer directly from the store. WTF. we even have a fucking vacuum saver which i have instructed him on how to use.

also, we have a sous vide machine, and i would like to cook them at like 138F or something but i dunno if it's going to be worth it considering they were frozen so poorly. and i should have a goddamn blowtorch, i did but this bitch stole it from me.

instead of having fresh beef sous vide'd to a perfect temp and blowtorched, we will probably go full pleb and say 'ahh fuck it let's just grill it'. and then he will finally fuck up by saying 'i don't want to mess with the coals lets just use the gas burners'.

what a goddamn sad day this has become

When you buy your own steaks, you can do whatever you want with them as well.

NO. FUCK NO. Oh my god you've actually triggered me. FUCK I AM POSTING ON TUMBLR RIGHT NOW.

Seriously though, I have a friend who is mexican that smacks his lips when he eats, consistently. He will smack his lips during every single chomp. Imagine sitting next to someone and they are smacking their lips every single time they take a bite out of their food. For each mouthful that they take, let's assume they chew for 10 seconds, that's 10 seconds of non-stop lip smacking. He doesn't pause for a second between bites unless he has something to say, and he's very brief if he has anything to say since he usually eats without talking. - 5-10 minutes depending on the total meal of him just smacking his lips as he eats. Fuck, it makes me so angry just to think about it, but the thing is that I'm afraid to confront him about it.

The reason why I've never confronted him about his lip smacking was because when I was younger I was sitting on the couch eating a bowl of something and my father scolded me for smacking my lips so severe. He asked me if I ate that way when I was in front of my friends. like an animal. So every time someone smacks their lips I remember the time my father scolded me as a kid. I remember it vividly, and I remember my fucking annoying mexican friend who I will never confront out of fear of instilling the same feelings of resentment that I felt towards my father after he scolded me.

>implying I was only being ironic about getting triggered.
>>
I heard that watching people eat is really popular in Korea. It's not always attractive women, either. Asians are fucked up.

It's erotic in a sick way, like watching two 85+ year old men fucking.

- what are some easy recipes i can make with it?

if it isn't already evident from the post, i'm not very good at cooking
