Thinking of getting some glassware. Any suggestions on Pyrex v. Anchor Hocking?
Was also thinking of hunting down some old school Corningware.

work on improving your versions of dishes that she does like. she'll leave you soon enough and then you can go on with your flavor experimentation alone.
What can I do with an avocado, besides guacamole, to make an easy and tasty snack or meal? Thanks.
It's a delicious piece of fruit.
Eat it.
>>7382642
Just plain?
>>7382664
Just add it to any sandwich you make
That and guacomole are pretty much all I use my avocados on
What's your go to recipe for cheesecakes? Do you use a bain marie?
I wanted to try the Food Wishes recipe, but I don't know if the Laura in the Kitchen one would be better.
>>7378204
Arent baine maries those big perforated metal straining bowls?
>>7378250
A bain marie is just a water bath. I think you're thinking of a colander.
Anyone else make their own corn tortillas? I recently discovered how ridiculously easy it is. I've had huevos rancheros every morning for the past 3 days. Never going back to storebought, and I live in an area where you can actually get good tortillas
not sure i could get the ingredients that easily in bongistan
>>7382932

Ostrich>Beef
grow up you bellend
>>7382719
Last I checked, there wasn't that noticable a difference between the two.
Which makes Ostrich a highly overpriced commodity.
>>7382728
Ostrich is a bit more lean, but yea tastes like beef and not gamey.
What kind of tomatoes are these?

Also, why do you buy stuff without knowing what it is or what to do with it?
Why do things taste differently when we only have six tastes?
An apple is sweet and sour but it has the flavor of 'apple' as well. What is that and how do you explain it?
>>7382418
>What are aroma's?
because we don't only have six tastes
>What is that and how do you explain it?
It has sugars, thus it's sweet. It has pectin and other mildly acidic chemicals, thus is sour. It's an apple, thus it tastes like an apple.
Stop being retarded on purpose.
Aroma
I just moved in to my new apartment. First time living on my own.
I want to start cooking more.
What are essentials for the kitchen?
I'm not talking equipment, I mean stuff like salt and pepper.
tl;dr what are some things everyone should have in their kitchen
milk eggs butter
It'll be used in a majority of your everything. That'll be a $25 copay. You'll get the rest of the bill once I have your insurance billed.
>>7382385
you don't have the minimal equipment anyway but whatever
> essentials
salt (table salt and kosher salt), sugar peppercorns, mustard seeds, other spices, dried herbs, vegetable oil for frying (not fucking canola, you have alcohol if you want to kill your liver), vinegar, cooking wine, coffee, cocoa
> staple foods, these you should NEVER EVER be without
beans&peas (dry or canned), rice, wheat flour, corn meal
milk, butter, cream, cheese
eggs
whatever vegetables are in season - i.e. dirt cheap at the store or market. don't be picky, most anything can be made into good food
> nice to haves
meats
fish
>>7382385
Always keep some onions and garlic around, it'll put flavour into most things. Also try to find a herb or spice that you like putting in most things. For me it's rosemary, for others in my family it's thyme. You don't have to put it in everything, but it's nice to have some way to salvage a meal that turned out badly.
What are some good, low calorie salad dressings and/or seasonings?
Homemade lemon olive oil & Parmesan dressing.
Salt & pepper to taste.

How does /ck/ feel about "Fast Casual" ?
Is it just over priced fast food or bretty gud ?
It's pretty good. Shake Shack is overrated as fuck though.
>>7382133
A dollar for a slice of cheese tho?
i'd rather just go to a diner. similar prices and usually slightly better quality.
Did you fall for the prawn cracker meme?
>>7381401
No too expensive, I just buy dried krill fish food and eat that. I'm completely serious I have an addiction
>fall for
What? They're literally free. It's nice to have a few along with your meal. Next you're going to tell me that bread with Italian meals is a 'meme'
i fucking love prawn crackers
