Eggs are disgusting
Literally the best thread I've ever seen in the past 3 months. Literally.
Oh yeah I forgot.
That's a nice 'go style 'late bar. Or something.
God I don't fucking know anymore.
We haven't had a cooking cringe thread in a while.

All the flavor, none of the fumes. Stay mad.

some people don't have time to go to flavortown for every meal.
What made France so much more influential back a few hundred years ago when it came to "high cuisine" as opposed to other European countries? Most really really rich people eat things of french origin from like 200 years ago. Why?
>>7763898
Experts at gluttony and feasting.
It's similar to Italians with music and Mediaeval Muzzies and ancient Greeks with maths: they were the first to codify it extensively.
That's it, really.
See, Spain invented musical notation, but Italy was the first to use that to codify music and give names to the various aspects of music. This is why we can talk about music being played pianissimo, why we know what the arpeggio is and why people sing a cappella.
Similarly, despite not being the first to come up with counting or even mathematics, ancient Greece influenced maths by writing down much of their stuff on the subject. It's why we use Greek letters to represent numbers, why we know what algebra and algorithms are and why the Pythagorean theorem is the bane of many a fifth grader today.
The French were the first to extensively codify and name cooking techniques. This is why we call certain knife cuts julienne and chiffonade, why we know how to sauté and flambé and why the chef asks you for a mirepoix cut as brunois.
Believe it or not, however, on a wider scale, the French are nowhere near as influential as you might think. Not. Even. Close. The most influential nation on European cuisine is Italy. The most influential nation on world cuisine is either Portugal, China or India.

Why are 'biscuits' so popular in America? Aren't they just scones?
>>7764195
No
they are flakier and softer
>>7764200
they look like they would taste like babby rusks.
>>7764195
a scone is a biscuit that you fucked up and overcooked so that its super dry and crumbly
What food does this picture remind you of /ck/?

Pussy.
Was your mommy a good cook?
>"I don't eat any of that foreign muck"
>"adding herbs and spices just ruins the food"
What do you think?
No. She could bake pretty well, but everything else was gross. Mushy boiled or microwaved vegetables, all the red meat she has cooked in her life has been beyond well done. She doesn't even defrost frozen meat before she cooks it, just pulls it out of the freezer and cooks it straight away.
She has also smoked for the past 40 years, so everything probably tastes like ash to her anyway.
That's why I had to learn to cook at a very young age if I didn't want to eat garbage.

Why haven't you picked up the greatest soda today?
What'd your favorite?
Millennials and raw-only health nuts need not apply
Because I only drink soda if alcohol is in it. I'm thinking Surge would be good with some Bourbon in it.

I take pride in that actually. Thats like saying you're proud of eating the same meal over and over like an obsessive autist
Has anyone here actually tried the Gordon Ramsay meme method of scrambled eggs?
I'm sorry but these are shit. The ones in the video he does are undercooked, and when I follow the exact same method as he does them, they are way undercooked just like in the video.
Scrambled eggs are supposed to be made in a pan, and as it slowly cooks you bring the cooked parts to the center of the pan with a fork or spatula. Always low heat because eggs are delicate and you don't want to overcook them, but you don't want them RAW. They are supposed to be silky, soft, and delicious but Gordon Ramsay makes fucking runny, under cooked RAW eggs.

>with a fork
You fucked up!
>>7763261
You can totally use a fork if the spatula isn't available, asshole.
>>7763250
they aren't undercooked at all, you are doing it wrong lmfao. and they are actually pretty fucking good. It takes a lot longer to make it than the video, obviously because it skips while he's stirring etc, you are some kind of clown.
Are you ready for the "microbrew canned coffee" trend?

the taste of eggs and mayonnaise is a gross one, but it's only gross on its own.
Honestly just make eggalad instead, it's the same thing except you can do stuff with it like dip chips or make a sandwich
Let's talk about spice.
What's your threshold?
What's your preference?
I can handle anything up to habaneros. Love putting them into my chili.
I put spiracha on my eggs this morning.
Can I be one of the cool kids?
Chocolate habanero is for me the last point where the heat is enjoyable. After that things get a little too painful.
Hey /ck/
I just started washing dishes for a local BBQ place and I am slow as fuck. Can you guys give me any tips on how to get faster?
I stay on top the dishes pretty well, it's just closing that ends up fucking me over. I talked to the owner and he said it normally takes him about 30 mins to close, but it has taken me about an hour and a half... I'm am embarrassed by this since I have a couple of co-workers who have to wait for me to finish. They're nice and all and don't rush me or say anything mean to my face, but I bet they don't really like closing with me, I know I wouldn't.
I've only worked two shifts and don't work again till Friday, so I have sometime to get a game plan together.
>YES I HAVE AUTISM FORGIVE ME IF THIS SOUNDS RETARDED. I JUST HATE MAKING PEOPLE WAIT FOR MY SLOW ASS.
