Yes it seems to be. Found out this typical variant is a Romanesco Broccoli.

I'm a little disappointed it's not something more special, but then again, I love both broccoli and cauliflower.

I went to Germany for a few months, studying there loving the food, people, etc.

Come back to America, buy some typical american white bread, take a bite. It's some sort of spongy, sweet garbage and Definitley Not bread. Where can I find real bread in the US?

Also fuck you Germany, I don't think I can ever eat normal bread again.

Do you make your own broth, /ck/?

>Had some frozen pigs trotters and leftover lamb bones from some lamb chops I had night before last

Sounds nice, though adding acid to your stock is something id never do, since it linits the use heavily, also no fan of different animals in 1 broth. I add dried shitake and a piece of kelp to almost any stock i do nowadays, it improves taste significantly. Another advice for trotters specifically would be to have it on a rolling boil for 14h+ so the bones start to dissolve and you get a nice white colour if you cleaned em right. And i guess you just forgot to mention onions, since a type of onion definitely needs to be in any stock

Yes, there were onions in there.

I actually have a big thing of dried shittakes in the pantry, I'll have to remember that for next time.

How do you clean trotters? All the recipes I looked up said to just kind of throw them in there.

Fill your spice rack, pantry, and freezer with staples. Buy what's cheap, and use technique instead of specific recipe to "throw together," what you have on-hand. It keeps it interesting as well as the cost down.

Y'know the most flavorful things tend to be throwaway scraps. Vegetable odds and ends, rendered fats, pan fond --all free byproducts, you just have to know how to use and store them.

Watch master chef it kind of helps you get the idea, i go to a local grocery store to buy steak i can get two flat irons for 3 dollars wit the right rub and a little cheap red wine you can make restraunt grade. Just buy cheap cuts of meat or whats on sell find a recipe and make it. Learn to sear, and get a nice seasoning rack and you can make anything taste good.

Instead of the whole "gluten is literally the devil", "carbs kill" and "fat is worse than hitler", why is no one concerned about this shit. It is almost in everything stored that you eat, be it cookies, peanut butter, prepared flour, margarine, etc. and it will make your bad cholesterol rise a lot, will cause a lot of hearth problems and even cancer. This crap is basically trans fat disguised.

If you want to go down that route, there are plenty of poisons in food if you know where to look. Red 40, glyphosate, atrazine, processed sugar, hexane-extracted vegetable oil, etc. The FDA does everything based on economics, and you can imagine how well that turned out.

I got a grill for free, so I cleaned it up and cooked some burgers for my gf and I. The thing I cant wrap my head around is why grill? I can sear a steak or burger on my cast iron, whats really the point of grilling? Am I missing something here?

Why is it that so many reviewers on youtube allow their own preferences to get in the way of their reviews... For instance Dayum Drops takes the lettuce off of his food.... how are you supposed to give an accurate review like that.

Some like Reviewbrah seem to not list their personal preferences so he's pretty good. Ken Domik is pretty objective in his reviews as well... who do you people watch?
