Esoteric finance/ investing strategies.

I want your most esoteric stuff, the stuff buy-side analysts discuss behind closed doors. I don't want the buy low sell high or trend trading vanilla. I want to hear about the most creative and esoteric ideas you've stumbled across throughout your trading careers. I want exotic.

I guess I'll share one to kind of give an idea of what I am looking for:

I was big into stock options. I happened to stumble across this book that delved into the techniques of trading on, or around expiration Friday. The book went on to talk about strike-price pinning and how a gravitation from one strike price to another on a day like expiration day could be 500-1000%+ moves. There was evidence of these moves cited with data and back-testing. It was a very esoteric trading idea outside of even your most exotic forms of options trading.

I'm looking for things like this. It could be in arbitrage, bonds, futures, etc. I just want to read something different and see if it can't open up my mind a bit.

I'm bored, I have hundreds of thousands of subscribers on youtube. I have knowledge that you want. Most of you are beggars who are here for handouts. For once /biz/ will not be about the blind leading the blind.

Ask me whatever you want. If it's interesting or strikes me the right way I'll bite. The areas I'm strongest in are youtube, finance, and entrepreneurship, but if it's a good question I'll take on anything.

I have recently started with my self-employment and I thought about getting my own website but it is crazy expensive. I can't afford that yet.

What can I do to have something that at least resembles my own website? Use linkedin or even myspace?

I start to trade with EU-Capitals.com, for now they are good, withdrawal on time without delays.

I have a pretty fucking awesome idea to replace advertisements(which will also kill data mining in theory). It doesn't matter what it is for this discussion, just think that my solution is a true alternative for display, search and native advertising.

Do I launch my company NOW or wait till advertising is at its peak and users are sick of intrusive advertising? With microshit rolling out windows 10 aggressively data-mining and personalizing ads I think I should wait a bit till more people are sick of seeing ads.

Any ideas? I've been using increasing number of adblock users to gauge how many people are "unsatisfied" with ads on free services. No, my idea is not a paid system like youtube red. Its completely different, and this does not involve any personal information.

Tldr: should an entrepreneur have business degree or not when he already has skills capable of running a biz but just needs hands-on experience?

I really want to become an entrepreneur, I have a big passion for leadership and business.
I have made a lot of mistakes in the past:
-In secondary education I chose a business profile with biology, at that time I had a big interest in science etc. but things changed after my grades in biology slipped to less than average and business grades skyrocketed in the final year of school.
-I went to Finland with the idea of studying abroad in business.
I reevaluated my goals and plans, and everything I have been through taught me a lot, I learned a lot from my mistakes, a lot that changes my life path.
Now I am business minded, I know I have the skills necessary to start businesses and I know I have the determination, drive and passion to make whatever business successful.
I would be willing to work so hard that I only have 3 hours of sleep every night for a year if it meant for my business to succeed.
It is not that I am against a degree, not that I don't like learning or that I am socially incapable.
I have had a lot of theoretical practise on starting businesses in high school and got first place of 120 others that enrolled in the same course as me. I had the most creative business, most clear business, most original business etc (victory prize was mediocre and we worked in groups of 4)
However, I know that back then I could feel the leadership inside me, I carried a lot on the project and I also delegated what I was less capable off in a good way.
My girlfriend says she trusts me if I were to drop out which is great, it motivates me. My dad says I should do whatever I want to do, he will always be there for me he says. However my girlfriends parents are fiercely against me, they think without a degree I can't make it with my personal skills. But I read everywhere the same thoughts when becoming an entrepreneur.

I just need to make this thread to vent a little. I started investing with B&H around June, and since then the market has pretty much taking a huge dump, and I'm down 10% this year.

Not that great of a start to my investing career. I know it's all about short-term long term, but sometimes you just need to vent a bit.

I'm working a dead end job which obligates me to stay from 830 to 5, despite having about 2 hours worth of work maybe a day.

I apply for jobs when I get home but in the mean time what are good ways to make use of time at work? I'm at a loss and feel like I'm stagnating in this position.

Usually I listen to audiobooks but its starting to get repetitive. I can really only use my phone since I don't want to have anything obnoxiously displayed on my monitor.

Seriously how does anyone do this. I'm not cut out for pretending to do work 45 hours a week every week for the rest of my life.

Let's talk housing;

>first year of university
>will have £25,000+ saved by the end of my degree
>currently live outside of London
>most likely going to work in London
>don't know what to do housing wise when I get a job

should I live in or out of london? and should I rent for a few years first, or just straight up buy? A lot of people I know who are 22/23 don't have close to £25k in savings so that gives me an advantage I guess.

I know it's long thinking as it's 4 years away, but any thoughts?

What would you do with 27k

I'm 20, and after 3 sweet years my job has been cut short, my savings virtually gone and im back living in my parents house.

Doing nothing is driving me crazy, im sure lots of you know the feeling, the only things im doing with my time currently is learning russian and trying to apply to a university, i figured i got all this cash in the bank getting only $40 a month interest, might as well put it to use.

What would you do in such a situation? Anyone else feel like their life is at a standstill at the moment?

Hello biz.

I've been thinking for a while that my town needs a dedicated music venue for the booming punk scene here. Currently, we set up in houses/basements where the owners are usually pretty reluctant, and sometimes it is troublesome finding a willing house. I think if there is a dedicated space, we can put our town on the map and draw some bigger name bands

So, there is this club that is relocating due to a dispute they had with their landlord. I would like to consider renting it and turning it into a venue for punk/metal/alt/folk/whatever bands but I... I'm young and have never done anything remotely resembling this. I do have a business degree and would be pretty comfortable with the financial side of things but that's about it

Is anyone willing to help me out here? Anybody have any idea what the monthly rent could be? There is a large banner outside of the club with a phone number but that's it, Google doesn't help. If I do this it would be a massive undertaking and I am unsure where to start. I should also mention that I am pretty confident I could find some angel investors *cough* family members *cough* that would be willing to throw me some bones if I make a solid business plan!
