Seems like your pretty standard millennial yuppie type.

Signs that you are fully retarded by 2016:

>having less than $100 in savings
Doesn't need any explanation.

>"investing" in bitcoin
Not just trading it, but thinking it'd make you rich in future. Especially for large amounts.

> Buying any car under 3 years old, especially luxury or sports models
New cars depreciate like crazy losing up to half their value just from buying the stupid thing. Sports cars and luxury cars have high insurance, high taxes, cost a ton to repair and don't do anything special outside of telling the world you're an idiot with a small penis.

> Actually having cable/satellite TV
Ever hear of streaming? Youtube? Netflix? Amazon prime...?

> getting college loans
You're not going to make the money back. College is only interested in taking your money and what they teach is worthless in comparison to making a portfolio or going to a trade school. Apprenticeships PAY YOU to learn. Paying to go to college is stupid.

> Going to college at all if you're not going into medicine, science, teaching, or law
You could have gone anywhere else and saved money. Also EVERYONE goes to college. The expensive paper isn't an advantage; having experience, references or a portfolio is.

Not only do you have to deal with the public, you have to deal with the sick public. Plus all those years of schooling and potentially debt to get there. All for a mediocre at best salary.

Tell me if it's worth it.
>>
>>1012979
Over $300,000 a year is a mediocre salary? And yeah, it's the amount of time and money it'll take to get there are making me second guess myself.

Worth it if you can get into it and you enjoy being a doctor.

Doctors don't become doctors for money, they do it because they genuinely enjoy it but it just so happens to earn a lot of money.

There is a lot of desert land for sale cheap.

What is a good way for a 22 year old with very little money to my name to monetize it?

I realize if it was easy that everyone would be doing it, but just curious.

First thought was solar. But its expensive and not easy to get into. Any tips, boss?

>>
depends on the state. they all have weird laws and you might get fucked over if it turns out the land you buy is home to an endangered scorpion of a fucking cactus bird or some shit.

The problem with cheap land is that it's either going to:

A) surrounding land will never develop in your lifetime

b) will develop, but the taxes will climb faster than you can monetize the land.

c) you get muscled over right when it shows promise.

You would be better off buying dirt cheap industrial chunks of a town/city that lost it's ass after NAFTA.
>>
>>1018588
Im in arizona.

I was thinking about trying to produce something off the land like rare peppers and spices or something.

Im not too worried about the area being developed for a while. If i can shape a new desert destination in the distant future that would be great though. Im more thinking about the land thats in bumfuck nowhere.
>>
>>1018600
maybe you could turn your slice of land into a desert oasis. that'd be cool

Does anybody on /biz/ have a Roth Ira? College graduate, thinking about opening up one on vanguard. I remember when /biz/ first started there was a great thread about Roth Iras with multiple different investment recommendations.

They're pretty cool. They're made with after tax funds, so no taxes will ever need to be paid on that money ever again. This includes the earnings. This is all assuming you're making qualified retirement distributions (withdrawals).

As far as comparing traditional to Roth IRA's, it all comes down to what your tax rate is now compared to your tax rate at retirement.

If you're making peanuts this year and will probably be in a higher tax bracket, you're best putting your money in a Roth (pay the taxes now). If you're making the most you will make in your life this year, you're probably better doing Traditional, because you'll probably be in a lower tax bracket when you're retired and not bringing in top income.

The proper choice all comes down to when you are going to be in a lower tax bracket, now or retirement. Pay the taxes when your tax burden is the lowest.

True but it depends on how many warchests you have.
A good wedding will buy you influence, prestige and opportunity.
As well as all kinds of leverage and dirty secrets.

Can we get a /biz/ness clothes thread going?

I haven't heard much talk lately about what to wear to interviews, haircuts, etc.

Can we discuss do's and dont's of suits? Here's what I've been wearing lately by I haven't been having much luck with interviews, hopefully it gets a little better as I have a few more coming up this week.

Pic related, it's my business suit.

Santander. Extra20 Checking is great for entry level people who can set up direct deposit, it's essentially a no-fees checking+saving that gives you a free $240 annually. The interest rates are beyond awful (0.03%) but you can open a second savings account with 0.6% (not too shitty by current US standards) and move everything to that one every month.

Essentially, it's good for people who are making money but haven't made a large amount yet. I'd recommend it for most people 23-35.
