I thought I'd try this general out on /biz/ as the /fit/ threads are usually just shitposts and arguments.

/sig/ Self Improvement General sticky - http://4chanfit.wikia.com/wiki//sig/_sticky

Essential Links:
http://www.arcitea.com/ - General self improvement wiki
http://www.habitrpg.com/ - Gamified to-do lists

Free learning resources:
http://duolingo.com/ - Learn a language
http://codeacademy.com/ - Learn to code
http://coursera.org/ - Courses on thousands of different topics

Basic recommendations:
• Create more order in your life. Live by a routine and set goals.
• Use a calendar and stick to it as closely as possible.
• Learn to focus + meditate
• Eliminate any unproductive or time wasting habits (watching youtube, browsing /b/, etc)
• Simplify your life. Work, hobby, socialize, eat, excercise, and sleep should be 90% of your day.
• Get a hobby that isn't excercise or work. If your hobby is video games, expand on that. Create content (guides, videos, etc.) for your favourite game or contribute your skills to an indie game project.
• Read non-fiction, watch talks/documentaries.

The best way to become a more interesting, successful and overall better person is to do more things. Try out hobbies, learn about politics, become passionate about different things, strive to learn and do more. Don't look for arguments or try to prove other's wrong. See pic related.

/biz/ isn't a self-improvement board. You don't come here to learn about philosophy books to read or to learn how to get a gf. You come here to learn how to make money.
>>
>>1071955
/biz/ is as much of a self-improvement board as /fit/ is. Making money and learning about finance is as important as health and fitness are in life.

You don't go to /fit/ to do either of those things too. You would go to /adv/ or /lit/.

The point is, improving yourself in one aspect in life will make you better in other aspects. If you stick to a schedule, improve your attitude, and become more knowledgeable, you'll become a better worker and will further your career. Self-improvement is more relevant in /biz/ than it is in any other board.

I just bought the condo last month. I know I should have a bigger emergency fund, but I got a great deal on the condo and had to get it. I was living with my parents and I hate renting. I have another 3 years on my car payments, once I have that paid off, I will contribute much more aggressively towards my emergency/savings and retirement funds. Did I make a huge mistake?

Going to float around $30 until US prez inaugurated, then it will drop in half figuratively overnight, everyone blames new prez, even though they just started presidency and hasn't done anything, world ends up shitting itself and all dominos fall.

But I know nothing, don't take me seriously, I just think it would be great to see the world literally end because of the US

Planing on starting up a longterm investment portfolio. I know the market is pretty shitty right now, I might delay my actual entry into the market until things bottom out. But for the time being I have some questions to ask.
I plan on putting a portion of my paycheck into my investments,
Should I buy a larger sum of shares, one company at a time, gradually increasing the diversity of my portfolio as I put more money into my investment account. Or should I buy a smaller number of shares, multiple companies at a time, gradually increasing the quantity of my portfolio.

Are there any advantages/disadvantages from using Robinhood vs. a traditional brokerage firm like Fidelity or Scottrade?

Pic related, my tentative distribution plan.

Feel free to call me a faggot and retarded

It needs a shelf upon which to be placed alongside other failed experiments once the shills lose the wind in their sails and it inevitably loses or relevance.

Is it profitable? I know YouTube is still not profitable after 10 years
but maybe Vimeo's freemium plan is a better business model.

With all the DMCA abuse happening at YouTube,
I see a lot of people express a want for a proper YouTube alternative.

If a few people with 100,000+ (and that's maybe 10,000 active subscribers) wanted to leave YouTube and joined the site,
I believe you could quickly grow a smaller community that could keep growing.

I am concerned about costs for video hosting and sharing though, and the post-process of said videos for different resolutions.
This service would in the beginning without doubt have a more poor service for video options.

I wouldnt use it, though

So, /biz/, I have a question for you.

I own a startup I've been working on over the past year. Me and my cofounder both do not have a business background, but we know several business people.

We're trying to figure out if we should take investment money. We're both only 19, so getting large sums is going to be almost impossible. Our main product is also almost entirely finished already, so we don't strictly need the money. In fact, we'd probably just spend most of it on insurance and advertising.

Is it better for us to just market directly to our audience and keep the equity? Both of us are okay with this just being a lifestyle business, so it's not like we're chasing multi-billion-dollar evaluations.

It would be more fun and you'd be better off by using R with quantmod to get some ETF data and running a portfolio weighting optimization yourself.

So I speculated on this card last week when it was sitting at 2.33, at it's lowest current value it's sitting at 8.50 I predicted 10.00 If you picked up a hundred of these last week you would have made 617 dollars from a 233 dollar investment

Anon is right, stop fucking shilling, you also forget that shops will undercut you even if speculation is correct. if it rises to $10 shops will offer you $6-8 per each one, to truly make a profit like you said you would have to barter with fucking neck beards, and who wants to fucking interact with neckbeards.
