Go to the men seeking men section on craigslist.

You don't even have to wait to get your degree to start working
>>
Step 1. Have well connected Daddy.
Step 2. Go to Ivy League School.
Step 3. Get fucked as an analyst level IB.
Step 4. Hope you don't have an aneurysm from the stress.
Step 5. MBA/PE/CorpDev etc.
Step 6. Have a mid-life crisis, realized you wasted your younger years at a desk moving numbers around in an excel spreadsheet.
Step 7. Become a Yogi

This online toy store is opening a retail location in Austin TX over the weekend.

Here in PA, retail options are constantly shrinking. We've got 2 Toys R Us and 1 Spencers-like chain shop (that won't be around this time next year) within a 40 mile radius. All of the other chains and independants are closed.

The convention business is a mixed bag. Seems to be more shows popping up but little money being spent.

Are these guys going to make it? If so, what makes Austin different from Harrisburg or Pittsburgh?

So my old family business was real estate, dating back to reconstruction post civil war. My family were considered carpetbaggers ( They were ) and made a killing off the low property values In the south at the time. Sadly my grandfather fucked all that up, giving up 200k In the 1930's after a moral argument with his father. My great grandfather was pro nazi and therefore pro isolation while my grandfather was a patriot and left to go and fight the nazi's for three years and staying In occupied Germany for three more years creating a rift between the rich In my family and himself that would never recover. He returned home a poor man and became an electrician. Now I want to restart my family's success, I have cousins on the west coast still in the business and are near billionaires however my side of the family as been poor since the 50's, I'm 18 and straight out of high school and intend to claw my way to the top of the real estate market with no start off cash; my family was glorious and elite ( Most of my family technically still Is, my side are the black sheep ) and I wish that for my children. Anyone here successful In the real estate market ( preferably starting around my age ) how did you make It? What were some tips you wish you could tell yourself at my age? Any input Is greatly appreciated. I'm not In this to make cash fast, I know how long these things take, but damn If I don't atleast try.

I intend to restore my families greatness. Cypto bullshit won't help me do that. I want to have buildings with my surname on them as my ancestors did. I want to control half of a city's property as my great-great grandfather did. I have no interest In settling for anything less. I shall bring back glory to my family name or die trying. I just want to know what any real estate elites here can give me some sage advice. I need some Trump-esque bois In here to school me on how to start at the bottom. Sadly the south Isn't In shambles like It was back In the day.

> with no start off cash
Your mission is admirable, but you need some capital before you can start flipping properties (which is probably the way you'll have to go until you get serious cash).

Im nor sure if anyone here is familiar with a plant called "kratom", but its this southeast asian tea leaf, related to the coffee plant, that gives you a nice opiate-like buzz. Its legal in the USA, aside from a couple of states that have banned it for god knows why. Theres dozens of sites selling it online in either small quantities of powder, or bulk by the kilo.

My question is this:
Im in southeast asia right now and will be traveling through some of the world's best kratom-growing regions in Malaysia. If I could find a quality local grower and convince him to ship kratom back to me in the US, could this be turned into a profitable business?
The online competition seems pretty pretty competitive. It might be possible to start selling locally at first to all the smokeshops in my area, but I imagine that wouldn't turn too big of a profit. One other thing thats kind of discouraging is that the legal status of this stuff in america is a grey area and basically the govt has the power to shut it down at any time and have been threatening to in many states.

Worth attempting it or no?

So I've been toying In my mind about getting Into the stock market, however I don't know what books /biz/ considers decent. I know the Art Of The Deal must be bullocks because Trump could've invested his money and gained interest and would've been up several billion from where he Is now doing absolutely nothing. With all of these scams on how to trade and what to trade I really just want a book that'll break down the fundamentals of economics and the stock exchange and perhaps a book that details all the jargon and helps to figure out what stocks are good short term, and what stocks are good long term. Any ideas?

I'm using TurboTax online and I just did my taxes. Earlier in the process before adding in the the extra stuff, it gave me an estimate of what I'll be getting.

I added my mortgage interest, insurance, etc.. since I bought a house late 2014, and the number at the end was the same exact amount it quoted me at the beginning.

I even added work expenses such as work boots for work, vehicle registration since I live in Nevada.

Did I just mess up? I didn't complete it yet, but I"ve gone through it to make sure I did it right, but at the end, it keeps giving me the same number.

I read you could get 100% of your property taxes and mortgage interest if your home is less than $500k and mine certainly is.

Then you fall in love and end up holding her bag for the rest of your life.

Is a software focused comp. eng. worth it for someone who doesn't find tech inherently fascinating? I think the computers and the Internet are powerful tools that can do a lot of good but at the same time I'm kind off fed up with the constant 24/7 distractions they present. Programming is interesting but only when applied to great and important things. I can't seem to identify as "an engineer" but the non-tech alternatives seems weak as everything's becoming more tech-oriented.

I guess my question is; do these skills transfer to "softer fields" such as business, entrepreneurship etc. or am I doomed to work with computers my entire life?
3 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1087546
You can work in a variety of fields granted that wherever you live, your uni/college has heavy math in the course.
>>
>>1087546

>am I doomed to work with computers my entire life?

probably, but not necessarily with hardware or anything.

I mean, everything uses computers, unless you're in labor or maybe a trade you're going to be using computers, engineer or not.

that said, they call me an engineer at work but I don't do much tech oriented work at all. mostly screwing around with a business application.
