not op. how's it going so far? what products are you flipping and how much capital did you start with?
>>
>>1084591
I havent sold anything yet, just started this week. Ive bought about $200 worth of stuff i reckon will sell, just going off whats sold on ebay and whats listed on etsy. I think i will do well. I have a plan to start a website and potentially refirb/private label some clothing, modeling all of it. Literally putting my label in the clothing to try and get above market price. Start a marketing campaign to cater to ham beasts and hipsterfaggots using tumblr, instagram and snapchat. Id love to throw a good 10k at it to outsource everything because basically my skills lie in managing people to do shot for me.

>allowed
That implies it's something that could be changed by placing restrictions on something. This isn't true. It's only fixed by adding additional policies. This is the current natural equilibrium, not 50/50 representation.

I reckon in hte future that will become more like 70/30, but I could never imagine things being represented at any more than that considering the median man is probably a whole standard deviation bolder in teh business world than the median woman thanks to testosterone.
>>
>>1084530
"Allowed?" Most publicly traded companies have board of directors stacked with men, they want masculine leadership and want to scratch the backs of men that they have worked with. Thus, you have a patriarchal structure at the top of companies.
>>
All those companies hire hot women who are too stupid to threaten their positions, it's been going on forever.

How do I get a mechanical engineering internship with a 2.67 GPA?

I know the material really well and I'm better at the job than my classmates, but my grades don't necessarily reflect that.

Kill yourself and get reincarnated as a guy with better grades
>>
>>1084500
But seriously though, one thing you can do if it's a small company is build something impressive to act as a kind of functional resume. I was in the same position a few years ago after graduation, bad grades but very technically capable. I designed and built a new type of inline robotic arm and just walked into the lobby with it and asked to speak to the hiring manager. I don't work at that place anymore but that was what got me going professionally
>>
Look into what you can do to fix your grades, first of all. You might be able to retake some classes and boost your GPA. My university had a program like that.

>determined not to be wageslave any more
>decide to start own business importing things from China
>negotiating initial shipment from factory

What experience do you guys have with international shippers? Anyone to avoid? Anyone to use for small shipments of samples (~1kg), vs larger shipments (~100-1000kg)?

Or, begging for fun coupons, alternatively. Do you give people money when they randomly ask you for it? I'm here in Calgary at the moment and it seems I can't ever walk to my car without someone asking me for money. I wish I could just punch these people in the face.

What do you think biz? Are you kind and sympathetic or miserly and selfish?

I cannot even make a single dollar

it doesn't even have to be a full salary

I just want to make some pocket money to support my neet life

i even know how to program, yet everything is way too competitive and takes too much effort.

You're never sure if its going to profit or bomb. Therse no certain path to make money online and when they say there is its most likely a scam to sign up for referrals.

Whats the point of the internet if you can't even make money with it?

How much money do you have to put in?

That's the main thing.

Even a thousand can bring some returns with time for basic level nonsense.

So in the last few months I have developed a product that I know will become huge. There are several competitors but none have went commercial yet and are strictly inferior AND much more expensive. I just demoed the product to several professors of mine and they were all blown away. It's still an early prototype but very functional. This shit is the real deal and i'm sure you guys would agree but I don't want to spoil the idea. I'm pragmatic with all of this startup bullshit but this realm of an idea is inevitably going to become huge in the upcoming years.

Now I have several worries. The first is that I'm the team-lead of the group in the school and came up with the idea myself prior to the formation. I have also done ALL the technical work thus far, literally 100%. They have just helped with the setting up of the product for demo/monkey work.

I want to start a kickstarter or demo it to several companies but I don't want to split the spoils with my groupmates because they haven't done jack shit for the technical work (and aren't really that capable or motivated as me) and didn't come up with the idea. I just have them because I had to have group-mates for this capstone project (We are computer engineers in our last year and we all have to work on a big project).

My other concern is that once people see the clever tricks I use to make this idea work for so cheap and effective, they might take it themselves. It wouldn't take more than a few competent and motivated programmers to make an equivalent once they see how mine works (which isn't that hard once you see the product in action).

Does anyone have advice? Should I try and patent it? (Although it maybe a little too generalized? Not familiar with the constraints of producing a patent)
Should I contact the companies who I would see delivering this type of project, if so how should I contact them?

I know if I play my cards right this will succeed. I'm just terrified to fuck it up.

>I don't want to split the spoils with my groupmates

then leave them out of your initial phase of development. whether its kickstarter or pitching to a company. don't tell them you're doing anything, let them find out the hard way. the only thing you have to worry about is if your groupmates beat you in this initial phase. if what you think and say about your team is true, they won't have the willingness to take the steps you want to take, nor the knowledge to make a successful pitch

>they might take it themselves

this is inevitable, even if you have a patent. welcome to capitalism.
>>
>>1084160
Thank you for the advice anon. I'm debating about doing no more work until our semester project is over. After that I'll just cut all contact and work independently.

Currently wage cucking at a Fortune 500 company, making about 40k with overtime. Applying for a more legit role of Data Analyst at a big hospital which would probably bump me at least 5-10k.

I'm currently sitting on about $7k with no other debt besides about ~40k in student loans.

Question is, should I focus on paying off my student loan first or should I continue to make payments and invest in something else (Like mutual funds, IRA, something safe, I'm risk averse af). Currently renting but if I got the new job I'd probably buy a house. I live in a ridiculously cheap city.

Halp.

pay off as much of your loan as you can per month, but always be putting something into investments, even if it's only like 5% of your income

do both such that you aren't eating spaghetti-o's for dinner every day
>>
>>1083880
I'm putting about 8% into my 401k which has been making pretty good gains. I try to save at least 10% of my monthly pay because that's about all I can do right now with my current situation. But I'm wondering if I should have other investments right now and if so, which (thinking long term).
>>
>>1083906
What is your student loan intrest?

I had some higher rate loans that I brute force paid, but what k have left is all very low interest so it makes less sense for me to pay them off faster with money I would otherwise invest.

It really depends on what you mean by "trading".
90-some% of people don't have the sufficient time or resources to put toward real trading.

Just don't hang around these threads hoping to shortcut the fundamentals. There are countless shills lurking, making the noise hard to filter out.

If I get paid into a bank account in Country 1 and regularly withdraw money from it via ATM in Country 2, where I am a permanent resident, does this count as taxable income in the second country?

(Let's ignore the status of the bank account in the first country for the time being.)

Not American, so no worldwide citizenship tax.
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Refer to the laws of the Country 2. If Country 1 thinks its taxable income there's not much they can do about it. If Country 2 does then they can get you.
>>
>>1084233
Thinking of opening a personal account to receive income in the Emirates, or Dubai. No income tax there.

Would this income be recognised as off-limits by a European tax authority?
>>
If you set up an LLC in Dubai and don't repatriate the funds to the EU you should be fine. As I mentioned before though, consult the laws of the country you live in. They can take very different ideas of what is considered income and when you have to pay taxes on what.
