I make 110k salary, I try to save and invest 3-4k per month.

Buying one share of anything years ago isn't investing.. you need to 1.) get a job and 2.) save+invest 10-50% of your income every month.

Not OP but I wonder if I should start investing my income too. I am 19 and live in my own apartment and everything is ok money wise without me working at the moment. I will soon start delivering pizza and will earn 670-1000 more per month and thought about trading with it instead of saving it in the bank. I already made over 300$ profit from cryptocoins and around 100$ from EUR/USD (I know it is not much money but I simply haven't had that much to start with).

Also I'm not from the US so living alone is no financial ruin.

How good are you at outside investments?

Holding an offer for MSc Statistics (Pharmaceutical), which I will accept.

I plan to study CFA Level 1 and take the exam in December. Furthermore, I can attend lectures from other courses (like the much more expensive MSc Quantitative Finance or the interesting MSc Data Science), for free, at the University.

it usually depends on what rut. if i think it's more than just business, like personal rut ( place is messy, yadda yadda ) - go for a walk outside, spend some me-time, maybe go get a coffee and buy a good book I've been meaning to read.

If it's a business-related rut ( can't get up to work etc) I give myself a day to review why I'm doing it, what's in store, where I can take it, possibilities ( I'm a huge dreamer haha )
and scramble up the todo list, sometimes doing a few little things instead of the big things

for instance I'm not just setting this shit up for clients - I'm setting this up so I can work towards having this great ecosystem where things will get done under my brands name. It'll be the talk of the town, our values will be influencial and we'll be a serious force in the market. etc etc


motivation follows action, not the other way around, remember that.

If so, what is the typical pay-through to the worker in a W-2 contracting situation? I have a friend working with a contracting company and my gut tells me that they're trying to take 40% of what the hiring company is paying for the position.

I do not work with a contracting company; about 95% of our positions are direct-hire full time.

I'm fairly sure that the employee contracted is paid an hourly wage by the company while the contracting company's income comes from their client. In our cases, the contracts are a certain percentage of the hourly pay, but it's not taken from the employee but rather the company.

So if I contracted you for 10/hr, and assuming our percentage was 20%, you would make 10/hr while we got paid 2/hour or something similar to that. I honestly never work with enough contracts to tell you with confidence.

I would suggest do your research without the input of recruiters. Recruiters rarely are qualified to give you that much advice on such a specific specializations on that business field. Perhaps they might know, but eh I doubt anyone has worked with enough finance positions to accurately help. Ask people in those areas of the profession.
