I am currently in about $8,160 worth of credit card debt, with the average interest rate being about 22%. I've been looking into debt consolidation programs but they all sound sketchy as hell. "Let all your accounts go delinquent, we'll pay them less than you owe and you pay us with 25% interest"
How would you guys go about paying this off in the fastest and smartest way possible?

yeah but even most failures make good money at least in the US. you can say i barely went to school or trained anywhere but i have a 90k salary working 20-25 hours a week. also look at software engineers, a lot of them are mentally handicapped but have tens of thousands to gamble every couple of months.

trading is more of a game to most people, especially here. i don't know what you "love" about it though, because it sounds like you're mad.

So /biz/
My family runs a online sex shop.
We started back in November.
We are doing good, but I really feel like this shop has way more potential than it currently has.

The thing with my family is that they refuse to hire anyone knowledgeable to run the site and maintain it, they assume because I'm doing a degree in IT that I can solve every issue.

Besides this, I had to make graphics for our site (most of the site was done by a professional, we had a falling out and if we want new banners I gotta fucking do them and I'm sure as fuck not a artist)

We noticed that recently we are getting plenty of traffic from our advertisement (mostly FB based) but no purchases, what would be the common cause?

I'm tired of doing stuff on this website but I really don't want it to fail either, for the sake of my family.

Can anyone give me any tips on how to retain customers and perhaps some advertising tips?

As for your question, put a sale up on your ads. People are more likely to buy something if they think they're getting a good deal. Set up your site with PayPal if you haven't already, people like to feel safe buying things online, especially its from an unknown site.

Anyone out there have experience in buying land? Good idea for investing your money or a waste of time? I'm talking buying up any cheap land and just sitting on it. Also what about buying commercial strip malls etc. Just very curious.

How long do you plan on just sitting on your land? Sooner or later you're bound to get hungry
>>
My father was a land investor for 35 years.

Start with homes. It's a fucking hell of a lot simpler. Once you get good with homes, you graduate to land.

Some tips:
> buy in a dip, not a peak
> buy in a growing area
> look at the home prices in the neighborhood, and surrounding area. You never wanna be the cheapest or richest house in the neighborhood
> There's always hidden expenses, so factor that in when you buy

good luck amigo
>>
thanks anon, are you talking buy and seek quickly for profit or sit on them until the value rises? Seems like houses wouldn't be good long term considering depreciation. Or are you talking about renting them out?

Why does /biz/ users overlap so much with /pol/ and /r9k/?

I just don't get it. There are some people who are actually into business and finance here, and takes it seriously. It's evident by the occasional good reply or thread we have.

But, there is so much other shit that could have been straight up copypasted from /r9k/ or /pol/

I don't get it. What's the appeal for you guys to come over here and talk about the exact same?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Because personal finance and all the problems and issues of it heavily overlap with personal problems that /r9k/ has.

Most of the users of this site are teenagers to mid twenties. Getting money and establishing themselves is their main goal. Most of the older guys have given up on offering thoughtful advice because they're tired of some 17 year old memelord popping off at them because it's not what they want to hear.

Money and politics are also heavily intertwined.

It makes now sense how this board is expected to talk about business news and issues, but we are not supposed to overlap with /r9k/, /pol/, or /news/

It's similar to how /k/ is not allowed to talk about politics relating to gun laws, even though the two go hand in hand, they don't fit solely on /pol/ or solely on /k/
>>
what the fuck does that even mean

/pol/ and /r9k/ are containment boards in the sense that the topics for threads are contained in there so that other forums can have space for their own topics

it doesn't mean the common opinions there aren't shared across the entire website

are you upset you can't downvote unapproved opinions?
>>
Because this is an anime imageboard for people age 16-25 primarily.

Jesus fucking Christ. Are you SERIOUSLY asking why an anonymous imageboard's business/cryptocurrency containment board is NOT 100% constructive?

My bet is on the currency itself. Canada is a petro currency and the price of oil is artificially depressed. I'd bet on an appreciating $CDN vs the $USD.

Hey /biz/ so I'm one of those people who are paranoid as fuck of losing my data so I have 3 physical backups of all my critical data. If you are like I am, losing my stuff would mean losing 2-3 years of my life.

Being the paranoid fuck that I am, I am also suspicious of all of those cloud backup services looking at my data and selling my info to google. However, I have reached the point in my life where I have too much data (5TB, external hard drives are killing me) and just need to take the risk. I'll probably just veracrypt my stuff before I upload it or something. What website should I be using?
19 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>1175934
If you are like me you probably have a lot of music, tv shows, and movies. If you don't give those as high a priority for backup, then it becomes much easier to create a viable backup plan.
>>
>>1175981
Another way to think of it is that if it can be torrented easily or whether it is easily available to stream and that streaming service price is similar to the amount you would pay for a viable cloud backup service in the terabyte range.
>>
>>1175934

I have maybe 30 GB of images, 100 GB of music, and an unknown volume of videos. Currently, I only need a single 1TB external to fit everything, and I own an identical second 1TB external as my backup.

As my video library expands, I'll face the same dilemma, OP. I don't like the idea of "cloud" storage and having to pay a subscription fee, so I'll probably continue to buy additional externals, which I hope will become more viable as file sizes shrink due to more efficient video formats and improved harddrive technology.

>>1175986

>if it can be torrented easily

Torrent quality tends to be garbage. Especially for movies - encoding quality is terrible and I prefer to make my own.

>whether it is easily available to stream

Anything you can find on streaming is extremely tentative, since the license contracts are so short-term. Videos can disappear in a flash. Not even non-copywriting-violating youtube videos are safe, and you should manually download your favorite videos as .mp4s via Youtube-DL or risk the uploader deleting their history on a whim.

"Bu-bye."

That's the best way I know how to end a call, but it feels way too feminine. For context, I often am not speaking to the same people, so I don't have some rapport to establish more casual goings.

How do you close your calls, /biz/?

I'm in sales/tech support for an engineering firm, and I spend about half my day on the phone.

It really depends who I'm talking to. If it's the good ol' boy down the road, who I've known for a bit, it's "and hey boss, you stay outta trouble now, hear?"

If it's the cute little Mexican chick that calks in orders for her company, its a little Adios or something like that.

In general, I dont like buh-bye for the same reason. I usually stick with have a great day, or have a good one.

Yeah, I do that too but goes as like this

Me: Thanks, and have a good day
Them: Sure thing, you too
Me: Bu-bye
Them: bu-bye

Leaving off the last exchange, there's always some pause...like the initial "Have a good day" wasn't enough to hang up the phone. So, acknowledging the pause, the other option is "bye" but it doesn't carry the same mood as the conversation or first-round of closing.

If you are someone getting a real job for the first time is it better to do part time for a while first to get comfortable with it and then get a full time later or to go straight to doing full time? Money and benefits and stuff like that being no object ?

Part time if you go to school or are super nervous

Full time if you ain't a pussy. Usually you can start full time and if it doesn't work tell your boss about it.
>>

>are super nervous

Yeah I guess that's an issue , anxiety is a bitch. I just have had trouble finding part time and was weighing that maybe I'll have to consider full. I just dunno. Part time for me would seem like it would make more sense but like I said lack of opportunities.

Hey biz,

I have no money but a decent credit score, I can use paypal credit to buy something with 6 months no payments + no interest.

I was considering buying gold bullion on ebay, then selling it when gold prices went up. I feel like 6 months is enough time to be able to get the money back and then some.

My only experience with shit like this is buying musical equipment low and selling it high

Flaws in my logic? Thoughts, options?

The problem is that there's no guarantee that gold will be worth more in the future. It's pure speculation.
>>
>>1175860
I see, so it could tank completely despite being considered one of the safest investments...
>>
>>1175846
>buy gold
>pay 8% of its value to get it sent to you
>sell it later
>4-5% tacked off the price to buy it from you
Gold bullion is one of the most retarded flips one could try to make.

You would be better off buying a ETF of diversified metals to hold in a portfolio or a gold mining company/index if you want to speculate.
