Feel the same way with my degree. The worst part is if you had put in the same effort into a finance degree or something similar you would be fine.
This guy is my idol. All dreaming aside though, how does one get on the trajectory to be massively successful like he has been?
step 1: make barely functional payment service
step 2: sell service to Bill Gates for 2 bazillion prnnies
step 3: use your newly found pennies to buy favor with liberal politicians
step 4: use political influence to redirect billions more taxpayer pennies into your failing solar company
step 5: leverage government backed solar company to get mega loans to open a failing auto maker
step 6: go back to government friends for more cheese
step 7: get NASA shut down and open failing rocket company
step 8: repeat step 6
I can only imagine he will start a failing resturaunt next that we will all end up paying for

Did he start Tesla? I thought Tesla was already in existence and failing hard and they brought him in as CEO and he turned it around. I don't know I just read about him on Wikipedia last night and found him a very interesting person.
I like how he likes America so much even though he's not from here. You can tell how much he fucking loves this country it brings a tear to my eye.
I think he really believes in what he does and works hard. I'd rather have Tesla and SpaceX use my tax money than Jaquan and Shaneesha. And I'm sure what Tesla has got is nothing compared to what GM got, as they continue to make shitty cars and move their operations to Mexico.
He seems to be a chill as fuck guy that just wants to work and make america great again. He's probably voting for Trump even though he would take away a lot of his subsidies.
Anyways I like him a lot too OP.
Elon is an anomaly. A regular person cannot work up to his level. The only way to reach his level of influence is to be abnormally smart and driven.
The first step, though, would be to get a hold of lots and lots of money. Start a business, copy exactly what everyone else is doing and make boat loads of cash. Use the money to start a company that recycles radioactive waste and uses it to do quantum computing. Now you're the talk of the town.
>He doesn't do crime

I'm from /b/ but I decided to come to /biz/ for help.
My girlfriend works at the one of the Wetzels Pretzels franchises, and the old owner had been paying them short, and pocketing the cash.
So he got found out, and corporate bought up the store. Now the new corporate officials made them go through a rehiring process, put everybody on a 90 day probation.
My girlfriend was unable to provide her social security card today (they asked for it yesterday) and they told her they need it by tomorrow, then.
The social security office is not open on weekends. But it's open from 9am-3:30pm
She works from 10:00-4:00 both tomorrow and Tuesday, which leaves the only day she can get it on this Wednesday.
If she applies for a new social tomorrow, she risks showing up to work late, and gets terminated.
If she does not bring her social security card by tomorrow, she is terminated.
Is an establishment/franchise allowed to do this? Any law that protect employees from being trapped into getting fired like this?
Please help me find some resources on this..
I live In California if that helps with workplace law differentiation.
STEAL THE YEAST AND MAKE A COMPETING STORE
Post your girlfriend's feet or pussy then we'll talk

Easiest way for right now? Get a job teaching English in China. They pay for your plane tickets there and back. Part time 12k (6k in China goes as far as 30k in America, 5-1 on most things). You can easily double that by tutoring pushing you up close to full time, and your visa to China switches over to one that lets you come and go as you please, you just have to renew it periodically.
It isn't that hard mate. They'll even help you learn Chinese while you're there.
Is it better to pay off as much of my car as possible at once to reduce interest, or to keep making payments to build my credit score? The car is already purchased, and I have some extra money from my job and having no friends or aspirations.
Unless your interest rate is huge, you're better off to accept the debt and put the extra payments you would have made into growing investments.
>>1174534
I know nothing about investing. Is it too late to start?
>>1174534
Also the interest rate is 3.5% APR. I don't know if that's high.
what does /biz/ think about starting a game developer company?
Does it worth it?
Very difficult to compete to mayor companies. Very small chance you will build the new Terraria or Minecraft.
Basically it would be smarter to kill yourself and reincarnate as wagecuck.
Depends on whether or not you're talented at making games. Make an indie game. If it's successful and you've got a more ambitious idea hire extra people on as you need them.
If you're just a guy with money and you want a good investment, look elsewhere.
>>1174504
That ass is shopped.
Is it possible to become classy if you're not born into class?
Is it possible to become a faggot if you're not born gay?
>>1174484
I suppose. Class has nothing to do with money. It's a state of mind, a demeanor, the way in which you carry yourself and engage others. For example, my personal family tree goes back to landlords, generals, politicians, lords etc. Now I'm from Eastern Europe, and after WWII communist and other faggots murdered and destroyed my family physically and financially. But the way in which they were raised to behave and act remained. And they passed that shit on down all the way to me. I don't look down on people for their wealth, but I will look down on someone for doing shit like chewing with their mouths open and talking while eating. I will look down on someone for not being respectful or mindful of others, or for failing to respect their elders etc.
It's all about the nuances when it comes to class. Someone with class can spot someone else with it, but those without it either miss it altogether or think that classy people are stuck up.
What was the last time your fridge was this full?
Around 2006 here
>>1174459
never because half that shit is junk food and half of it is just gonna get thrown away
>>1174459
Neither of those fridges contain actual food, instead of "food".
Also, I store most of my vegetables in my larder, so my fridge is mostly empty.
>>1174459
Unless you have ten kids or weigh 400 pounds, your fridge never needs to look like the one on the left.

I fucked up a few weeks ago and got charged with three misdemeanors. They're all non-violent and marijuana related. I come to you all with the understanding that this shit, regardless of how it's resolved in court, will probably show up on criminal background checks for at least five years
Me:
>23 years old
>African-American male (clean cut, professional, generally attractive --> I say these things because I think I can interview well)
>a year away from a MA in International Relations, 3.9 GPA (who cares)
>Potentially have the opportunity to do an internship at a foreign embassy
>$2,000 in the bank
Prior to this shit I really wasn't thinking about my career/financial future at all. Now it's all I can think about.
If I spent the next year developing some kind of proficiency with statistics, would that make me more attractive to employers? Or is the fact that none of my degrees have a quantitative focus pretty much a disqualifier for positions that go to business/finance/econ majors?
Basically, I am here because people on this board seem generally successful/smart. What can I add to my resume/profile that will help me overcome the legal issues I've caused myself and move me on the road towards an eventual $75k+ salary?
>>1174321
Misdemeanors dont mean shit. Why work for people who care about such petty offences anyways. If they bring it up in an interview just tell them you have learned from your mistakes and have grown as a person since the incident.
>>1174321
Dude. This isn't over. You're a smart guy. Lawyer up and beat those charges. Don't spare the dollars and get a top guy.
>>1174326
I feel you. Don't they say it's an employer's economy though? Maybe I am overreacting!
>>1174328
I have hired the best lawyer. I am just preparing for the worst case scenario. I really appreciate your perspective.
thanks for the response guys. I've spent so many hours on the internet trying to understand the ramifications of the situation I'm in. I know if I was a trucker or something I would be fucked, but I've had a hard time gauging what misdemeanors do for people seeking white collar employment.
Here's the plan:
1. Take a residential mortgage for 2-room apartment (or take a loan in a bank and buy an apartment)
2. Rent it out to some people
3. Their rent will cover the monthly fee you need to pay to your bank
4. After a while, the apartment is 100% yours
Any pitfalls to this aside from the obvious "The tenants might leave any moment and you never know if you can quickly find a new one"?
I am tempted to do it.
The bank doesn't allow you to rent it out to other people, if they don't find out its a great idea
>>1174259
I'm in Russia. Banks don't care about this shit.
>>1174259
What? Why wouldn't they "let" you rent it out?
Hi /biz/ first time here. I am writing regarding my parents financial situation. I am worried about them because they have so much of their 401k in stocks.
This is what they have saved together:
$740,000 401k in stocks
$30,000 CD fund
Annually they bring in:
$180,000 father working
$80,000 retirement from previous job
$150,000 mother working
What they are paying off:
$250,000 house mortgage
$50,000 car just purchased
+ paying for children’s school loans
+ garbage on credit cards
I am sure my parents have no idea what they are doing because they are not educated in finances past what they hear from others at work and what they see on TV.
Can any of you out there give me some advice that I can give my parents regarding their financial situation? I plan on sending them the link to this discussion in order that they can plan ahead for the future. I have heard certain people discussing the current economic situation and they have said it is not wise to have your money in stocks at the moment. If you have any questions for me please ask. If /biz/ had parents in this situation what would /biz/ advise?
>>1174208
Just shut the fuck up and leave them alone. They are doing just fine.
If you want to help them in some way, get rid of those fucking day-glo orange soccer shoes and throw away that god awful flat brim ball cap with "Sox" on it. Quit showing them your new tattoos. Stop drenching yourself in Axe. Put the vidya games away for a couple of hours. Stop scrolling your fucking phone during family meals and get a plastic surgeon to fix the fucking limp empty holes in your earlobes, Gauge -man. Quit sticking tape to your cat's foot for entertainment and quit coming out of the bathroom saying "that brown anaconda was a 7 ringer!"
>>1174219
Oh kek, it's one of /biz/'s resident 50 year olds.
The old timer is right though OP. Your parents are fine.
>>1174220
Is it smart having all of your 401k in stocks at the moment? I spend most of the time on /pol/ and am waiting for the happening. I keep hearing shit about the stock market crashing.
/biz/, I'm an 18 y/o in the UK on track to get some really fantastic grades in physics, chemistry and maths, and I've got a lot of offers from a redbrick uni's to go and study physics with them. The thing is though, /biz/, I want money. I've always lived in poverty and I've always studied like a bastard because I want more than anything to escape that. The fact that I'm studying subjects that I love is just a bonus to that fact. Anyway, I'll get onto my question:
I need to know what I should study at university that will allow me to make the greatest salary. Is physics useful in this regard? Am I better off going into maths? Maybe some kind of engineering?
Also, I plan on having a gap year between college and university, to allow me to apply for courses a year ahead. This will also allow me to do some work, letting me get a little bit of money that I could hopefully spend on a few weeks travelling, keeping some for university. Is this a bad plan? What's the best job I could feasibly get with not too many connections, but pretty shining grades (probably looking like A*,AA) and a solid work ethic?
Physics isn't particularly useful by itself I would say, maths or chemical engineering would probably be a better option if you want to make a lot of money.
If you do a gap year make sure you're going to definitely have a job and not just doss for a year, depending on where you live, getting a job straight after your a levels may not be easy.
Which Universities?
>>1174178
Unless you have mad connections or are a genius (in which case it doesn't really matter what you study) I'd suggest considering going for something which is required for access to a monopolistic professional licence like engineering, law, medicine and so on.
The reasons for this is that as you know government intervention distorts the market and in the case of artificially restricting competition in these fields, this should mean you get a very attractive salary. Idk how your doctors get reimbursed for the NHS stuff though so you'd have to look into that.
