for my short strategy i hedge it against being called with my long equity main account position, which is 20X the size of the short

i guess i would bail if i took like a 50% hit on the short. so far i am up about 20% so im not too worried about that short or long term

im not actually sure how margin calls on uncovered call selling works. would i be forced to buy the 100 shares of the option if it goes too red? i know there's no theoretical upper limit to the loss but realistically with just month from expiration it can't hurt me that badly even if it doubles in that time (100% loss). unless i am misunderstanding?

You are doing pretty much all the right things. I'm in same boat but I'm 25.

I'd say also hold money until the market generally sags a little and buy some blue chip stocks/stocks with dividends. You can pay attention to the news and when a giant falls 10% due to some event, buy in and watch it go back up.

I did this recently with LLY and it's up about 12% from when I bought in. Easy head start.

Then check in on it whenever you want. Have fun.
