Hey /an/ I need your help

Usually I don't come here but there's this growth on my cat's cheek, it's grey, rubbery and slightly wrinkled.

I'm not sure what it is but I want to make sure it's not nothing before taking it to the vet.

Like the other anon said, it might be an engorged tick. They're nasty fuckers. In your picture it looks like I can sort of see some of its legs, so take a closer look.

If it is a tick, unless you're confident in removing it properly by yourself, I'd take her to the vet to have it removed. Depending on where you live, the vet might also recommend a blood test for Lyme disease.

Ugly fucker. Thanks anons, I'll take her to the vet as soon as possible.

Why do some people tell me I was cruel to the cat?

> be me
> be staying at hotel with gf and 3 lb chihuahua
> there for a wedding alright
> walk dog one fine morning
> see movement out the corner of my eye
> big ass cat is hunting dog
> just about to jump dog
> literally milliseconds
> instant reaction is to kick cat
> *thunk* and cat runs away
> cat sits on wooden fence and looks at us
> whew dodged that bullet
> see same cat next day
> it is fine but scared of me

Why the fuck do people seem to think I should've let my dog get jumped by a cat more than twice her size? Is it not natural to protect one's animals against predation?

>>
>>2143043
You were right in stopping the cat but kicking it was overkill honestly. It would have worked to just yell and scare it away.
>>
>>2143043

You did ok OP but...

>owning a dog that you have to worry about being attacked by cats.

Maybe get another with more stopping powah.

Needless to say, the dog wasn't my choice. She got it when we were studying and I wanted to work hard and party hard, so it was on her to care for exclusively back then. But I helped out of course, I just didn't wanna say no to stuff because she wanted a dog.

I think I want a Chihuahua . Why is this a bad idea.

At what point should I be seriously concerned that a predator got him? My family lives in a pretty safe neighborhood and other families have always had outdoor cats that would scurry on our property at times so a possible catfight came to mind, but I've never seen my cat leave our yard in all the years he's been outside. I'm searching assuming the best, any tips on finding him?

Sounds to me like the world has one less cat to worry about.
>>
>>2142958
Cats don't usually fight to the death, they rarely even fight. They just argue until one of them hits the other, and the weaker tom cat leaves.
Cats are not that stupid as other mammals which have this alpha male behaviour - usually all the male birds and mammals fight to the death, because the weaker one is too conceited to run, since running is perceived as a craven act.

And? If it is nothing serious and you go to the vet, you'll walk out with some medicine to help make her more comfortable until whatever she ate passes.

Book an appointment for tomorrow or Sunday/Monday. If she improves, cancel it. Easy.

Hey /an/. You may remember me. I am the OP from: https://desustorage.org/an/thread/1968920/#1968984

I live in an apartment with my small dog and my mom doesn't allow me to walk my dog on the ground and asks me to put him in a stroller instead.

So recently I've been secretly taking my dog to the dog park where he can run around (although he just tends to follow me all the time in the dog park). I haven't gotten him a leash or anything yet. Am I doing the right thing? My mom will be angry if she finds out that I am secretly taking him to the dog park. I am from a conservative Asian family so yeah there is this cultural aspect in this issue.

Also another thing. Today my dog pooped when he was at the dog park. I am worried that he will never poop at home after this (I've heard that dogs will never piss or poop indoors after they did that outside but I don't know if this is true or not). If this is the case, I am scared that my mom will find out that I am taking my dog to the dog park. I will be travelling abroad for a month soon and I cannot look after my dog during this period.

Should I continue taking my dog to the dog park or what?

>>
Yes, you're doing the right thing by allowing your dog to exercise and enjoy basic joys of doggy life.

I do think you should get him a leash though, and take him for walks instead. Since he seems to just enjoy walking with you/following you anyways. Plus, since he's mostly been kept indoors his entire life, he's bound to be lacking in socialization with other dogs. So taking him to the dog park may result in some conflicts with other dogs down the road (basically, your dog probably lacks doggy social skills, and other dogs might be off-put by this.) So at least for now, I'd recommend taking him for walks instead of taking him to the dog park.

Oh, and no, your dog will still go to the bathroom indoors if that's what he's used to. There's no need to worry that he'll stop. It probably feels more natural to him to go to the bathroom outside of his living space, but since he's trained to use the pads and it's what he's used to, he'll still use them. It's not like he can hold it forever anyways.

And thank you for doing the right thing, anon. I remember your other threads and I'm glad you decided to take action.
>>
>>2142456
He just tends to shy away from other dogs.
>I remember your other threads
You do remember me? It was ages ago since I've posted it. But yeah, I guess this was odd as other people in my neighborhood recognize me when I "walk" my dog as well.
>>
>>2142462
>He just tends to shy away from other dogs.
nothing wrong with that. it's better than him attacking the other dogs because he's unsocialized. give him some time, he'll probably interact with the dogs more as he becomes more comfortable with the situation.

Hi /an/, /k/romrade here. I have a question that has been a matter of great debate. Who would win in a fight, a male African Lion or Male Silverback Gorilla? I'll let you decide the context. But please discuss a battle between two titans

gorilla has use of fists

A brown recluse bites both, killing them because it is the most deadliest spider in the world.

Probably the Gorilla. Lions have very thin skulls so one swipe of the gorillas huge arm could probably crack the lions skull open in an instant.

Coming here because of this thread: >>>/r9k/29124864

Op found a nest with a cowbird egg and apparently if he removes it the mother might sperg out and hurt the other eggs. Is there a normal way to remove cowbirds? Someone suggested boiling it and putting it back.

A what?

Why would you remove it? It's just a natural part of the cycle as any other thing. You don't purposefully kill any birds of prey you see to save bunnies do you?

No clue either, sounds like a cuckoo situation.

Also got to agree with the anon above, don't fuck with nature. Leave it alone.

There are 4 kittens of a similar size / age to the one in the pic, at the bottom of a storm drain. They've been there for at least 2 days now, possibly longer. Is it reasonable to assume that the mother is still feeding them / nurturing them or do they need to be rescued? They mew every time anything approaches the drain.

>>
jesus just get them the fuck out of there
the department goes beyond rescueing cats from trees.

Although with some tools you can open the storm drain.

they aint birds that are still fed outside of the nest. the mothers nipples cant reach down the stormdrain.

getting them out isn't the end of the problem
>>
>>2140439

Sorry, didn't really explain, cats constantly go down there, there are openings all throughout the street through massive concrete storm drains for floods, the kittens are accessible for their mother

already called animal rescue, they said they cant do anything because DPW said they wont come and open the drain because "if the cat put them down there, it can get them out"
>>
if you haven't seen a mother cat yet they are probably abandoned, especially if they are meowing. secure/happy/fed kittens don't meow at the first whiff of a live presence approaching.

Hi /an/.

I posted about my cat about 2 weeks ago. He has been an indoor/outdoor cat most of his life, but we can no longer let him out due to a change in the apartment rules where we live and because it's simply unsafe for him to be out in this area.

He constantly meows and scratches at the windows in my place because he wants out. It's been two weeks now and he's shown no signs of improvement. We play with him a lot, he has multiple litterboxes, a reliable feeding schedule and plenty of room to roam. I can't take him for walks because I can't have him tracking inside fleas or ticks, which are unfortunately common in my area. I'm now faced with finding him a new home.

My last chance is using Feliway, though I've heard mixed reviews about it. Does anyone here know if it would be effective in getting him to calm down and accept his life indoors?

Please help me /an/, I love this cat. We saved him from the brink of death and it breaks my heart to have to find a new home for him.

feliway is some bomb shit highly recommended

Just keep him inside. He'll eventually get used to it. Even if he wishes he could get outside it's not like he's constant suffering or something, I don't see any reason to rehome him.
>>
>>2138791

We can't get any sleep at night because of his constant meowing. My wife no longer wants to keep him.

My parents got a new dog after their old one died. We got a new one, same race (tervurian sheppard). I went to visit my parents this weekend, so I haven't met the dog before today. She instantly liked me and she's great. But my dad. She can't stand him. At the very sight of him she starts barking and growling. He's very tall, so it might be that he's intimidating or some shit. But my dad and the dog can't be in the same room. What do? Is there a way to speed up the dog getting more accustomed to my dad? Pic related, it's the pupper
