Hey /an/, I'm having issues with one of my male (1 of 2) cats peeing on the guest room bed. He's only done it on that one bed and it's been infrequent. Any tips on how to wean him off of it? Unfortunately just closing the door won't work because my mother is a crazy bitch who almost gave him away to a shelter because he's done it three times in his year of being fucking alive.

Pic related.

Take him to a taxidermist

Wash the bedding and mattress with an enzyme cleaner so he can't smell his mark anymore.

How many litterboxes do you have? How often do you clean them? Are they both neutered?

We have 3 litter boxes and were moving to cleaning them each day. Both are neutered as well.

The really odd thing is that he won't pee anywhere else, its just the bed in that one room. We've had the door closed for a week before and there were no accidents and we opened it the next day and he peed on it that morning. We moved a new bed in with different bedding today, which spurred the whole family freakout when he peed on the new bed.

Is it costly to put down kittens? A stray cat gave birth to kittens in my backyard and I just found her dead from poisoning(my neighbours are cunts). I have no means to take care of the kittens and even if I tried I dont think I would be able to because they are simply too young to be without a mother. I would rather they didnt suffer and starve to death and im to afraid of fucking up if I try to snap their necks. How much does it cost to put them down? Do I have to see a vet or are there other means of doing it?

Quick replies would be appreciated

>im to afraid of fucking up if I try to snap their necks
do not fucking do this
this is not considered a humane method of euthanasia for cats or dogs
take them to a shelter
>>
>>2144148
>take them to a shelter
they wont accept any more cats. besides they are tiny would so much special care for a chance of survival

>do not fucking do this
yeah which is why im looking for them to be put down as an alternative. how much does it cost for them to be put down properly?
>>

>as an alternative
It should have never been considered as an option in the first place.

Okay guys. Don't ask why, but I need to know how to import a tiger.

And how to get one into a building without people noticing.

Pay someone off, possibly tranquilize and large box. It takes up less space than a sofa.

You've never snuck a tiger into a building before?

Would it be right to get a dog if I live in an apartment and work 5-12 hours a day 6 days of the week?

No.

Get reptiles/fish.

12 hours alone is terrible. I mean what's the point in having a dog?

What are ways to keep my asshole cat from jumping up on the counter without scarring him for life? I bought him a cat tree, which he kinda likes, but whenever I'm in the kitchen he jumps up on the counter, as well as other places I'd rather not have him on. Also, how should I keep him from playing with cords? Should sour apple spray be fine, or?

>>
Bitter apple, yes. There are covers you can buy like Chewsafe and CritterCord, but you can also make them yourself out of plastic tubing.

As for counters, make it an unpleasant place for the cat to be. Cover the edges he'd jump on with double-sided tape or aluminum foil - cats don't like these textures. Give him an alternative place to climb up when he's in the kitchen and praise/treat him for being there.

Don't squirt him with a squirtbottle or otherwise punish him. He'll just connect the punishment with you rather than the behavior and will continue to go on the counters when you're not present.
>>
>>2140861
I was going to recommend tin foil as well. Cats hate standing on it.
>>
My weird ass cat hates the smell of oranges, so whenever I eat one I leave the orange peels on the counter for a while, and he never jumps on there again.

My cat started vomiting with blood. He's 10. Local vet said that he'd give him some medicine and that little guy will be fine.
Is he trying to comfort me?

Yes. Doesn't mean the medicine won't work.

So stop your crying and stop worrying about the things you cannot control.
>>
>>2145111
Did he not explain what was causing it?
I can't imagine a vet saying it will be fine when there is little chance of survival. That would make him liable, especially if you live in lawsuit happy 'murrica.

Bears look weird wet or without hair.
>>
No by the looks of that picture summer is starting, most of the ice is melting or has melted.

Prey is hard as fuck to get come by for polar bears so they pretty much starve.
Eventually they will get stranded on beaches and basically shut down due to lack of food and heat, known as a zombie bear.
Other Polar bears will risk their lives by climbing very fucking steep cliff to eat eggs and chicks.

Polar bears thrive in winter when the sea has frozen, it gives them a greater chance at catching their favorite prey, seals. Seals are easier to catch when the ice is frozen and they provide a ton of calories for the bear.

Being a summer polar bear is hard, plus it is wet.

Hey /an/. I have had my dog Nacho for a year now. She is obviously a mutt but we aren't sure and have been wanting to know what she can be a mix of. We think she is a mix of Boxer because of her color, underbite, ears, posture and baggy face. The only thing that throws us off is her size. She a lot smaller than the normal Boxer. Thanks in advance. (will post a few pics)

Wisdom Panel 3.0. $60. Advertised as being novelty, but they're over 90% accurate. And it's just fun. I've used them twice, one for a Lab mix (ended up being a Lab/Chow and we didn't see that coming), and another on a dog we suspected of not being as full-blooded as we thought. And we were right, one of his great grandfathers was a Jindo.

My cat is going on 15 years old . A Fluffy bastard as you can see from pic. He always gets knots no matter how many times my wife and I brush him. It's always been an issue to the point where we have to shave him. We don't mind but the cat has to be put under sedation each time due to him not liking people other than family. Any suggestions on what alternatives we can take? We tried brushing the knots out but we don't want to hurt him and he seems too old to be put under sedation just for a shave.

When brushing hair you put your hand above the knot you're going to brush out and start at the very bottom. You should have no problem trying this with his fur given it's so long. Put your hand touching it to prevent the skin pulling and gently, barely touching the knot with the brush, start at the very ends of the fur. Slowly add more pressure and work your way up as the knot becomes undone.

How often do you brush his fur?

We brush him once to twice dailey (morning and evening ) the problem is that he falls asleep in his bowl. Any suggestions on the kind of brush we should get?

WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT CUT THEM WITH SCISSORS DO NOT NO DO NOT NO NO NO NO NO

Try some olive oil. Work it into the knots and see if that makes them easier to brush out.

Thoughts on taking your snakes out for supervised time outside? I see a lot of people do it but does it really affect the snake in a positive or negative way?

>>
>>2144715
I don't see a problem with it if the duration of time outside is kept along general lines of handling time. So 15-30 minutes. Better be on the ball with supervision is a speedy variety. Even a colubrid can cheese it at the speed of sound if they decide to do so.
>>
>>2144738
*if snake is... a speedy variety.
>>
I don't think it's worth the risk of losing your snake. Outdoor enclosures would be a better option if you want to give your snakes some time outside.

But only when I let her outside. Whenever I try to put the harness on my dog to put her on her lead or leash, she cowers, pees on the floor and then rolls over into the submissive position.

I'm not going to say I'm a saint of a pet owner but I've never hit my dog or done anything that I would make her so afraid of me. Especially since that's the only time she does it. Any other time she's fine. Is there something I can do differently or change to get this to stop?

>>
Is she afraid of the harness? When you're outside with her off leash, like in your yard, is she afraid then too?

Is she a rescue or are you her only owner?
>>
>>2144619
Try finding its favorite treat and everytime you grab the harness you treat her. Also try leaving the harmess next to her food dish. If this doesn't help try using a different method of getting your dog to put on the harness, maybe raised voice is scaring her and she associates the harness with being in trouble.
>>
>>2144632

The only place she can be off her leash outside is at the dog park in our neighborhood and she seems ok. Runs around and places well with all the other animals. She doesn't enjoy her lead very much. She goes out and does her business but then hangs by the door until we let her in.

Got her from a humane society almost two years ago. To complicate things, I did just come back from a year deployment. Lucy (the dog) doesn't ever do that for my wife.

>>2144634

Good ideas. I'll just whistling for her instead of yelling. I never considered that no matter how happy I'm sounding, raising my voice could be scaring her.

So I was thinking, put a number of fly larvae in a closed, dark container. Feed them and wait for flies to emerge. Keep the flies in the container and feed them to produce more larvae.

How many generations would it take for the flies to adapt to the new environment, for examples smaller eyes, decreased pigment etc.?

Is there any evidence that dogs love you? I own both a cat and a dog. I feel like I have more of a presence in my dog's life, with them being pack animals and all, but do dogs care about you in a different way than other animals?

I hear everyone say that "dogs love you for who you are", but sometimes I think that they just slavishly devote themselves to us in order to avoid conflict and increase chances of survival.

Doggos love anyone who is nice to them, plays with them, feeds them. That's just how their social structure operates. They certainly do demonstrate a capacity to form a bond with their owners and appear to be capable of mourning the dead.

Beyond that you're getting in to anthropomorphism though.

Are you autistic? Dogs are social animals, they follow many similar rules that we (another social animal) follow. Their bonds may not be mother-child strong but yes they can love you, yes dogs have shown signs of depression and mourning after losing their companions. Obviously, if you treat them like shit or never take time to bond with them, they'll just milk you for free food and leave if they feel the need to.
