Hey /an/
My mom just went to the vet today and just informed me that my dog needs to be out down because of his age.
I'm so fucking sad about this but I know if he kept in licng he would just be sad since he can barely walk and can't eat anymore.
But my mother is planning on getting a new dog, so do you know any breads that live long, I don't want to start crying in 6 years because I got a pug.
Pic related is my dog bear

pugs live 12-15 years. They're one of the longer lived dogs.

I didn't know this, I'll take this into account when getting a dog.
Do you know how long Pomeranians last? My dog is 10 and I at least want to know if he lived to an old age
>>
>>2149829
google says 12-16. So 10 was pretty old.

My dog started having seizures. We got her on medicine, but her seizures are persistent and frequent.
Does anyone else have experience in this area?

Well obviously you should get your dog to a vet and listen to what they have to say
>>
>>2149740
She has been to the vet frequently, they upped her medication.
But the seizures keep coming back.
The bet keeps hinting around at a brain tumor
>>
>>2149741
>brain tumor
Unfortunately that does seem really likely. Seizures only happen when your brain encounters an error and you have to force close it. If they're frequent and persistent then that's really, really bad.

What medication is it, btw?

Get a new cat. It will take your mind off it.

A wound of some sort- looks like it's oozing, so could be infected.

You have two choices: go to a vet (ideal), or go to a vet (possibly preferable). There's naff all the internet can do for you.

Why are swans such assholes, /an/?

My dog wanted to watch a swan convoy going down the river and the lead one advanced toward the bank just to hiss at her. Dog dindu nuffin. We had to leave before I was forced to fight some asshole bird.

Let me begin. Nearly all of my pets throughout the years have been strays, feral, or unwanted pets, ESPECIALLY my cats. A very, very pretty girl showed up at my house about a month a half ago. I'm thinking she's a Balinese, and one of the sweetest little things that has wandered into my yard in awhile. Very obvious this cat is a stray, very friendly right off the bat, but I go on a week long camping trip. I come back, she's still there. I have fed her for a month since then, bonded with her mainly in the last 2-3 weeks. She is desperate for attention and no problems petting/holding her. I took her to a personal friend/vet and had her scanned, she's chipped. Such relief that I may find her home, (I imagine how I would feel if she was my lost baby.) Anyways, phone # is disconnected and her owner no longer lives at the listed address. She turns out to be a 14-16 year old adopted from my city shelter in 2002, listed as 0-2 years old, no name documented and lives 2 miles from my house. Her owner also has the name of a very elderly gentleman, not a SINGLE hit on google, no facebook. I'm still thinking in my head "maybe she was taken in by the relatives family that lives nearby" etc. The chip company has a two week hold on the chip re-registration. Have I made a reasonably attempt to find the owners? I just keep thinking if it was my cat I've had 12 years and this happened, say I lost the chip paperwork and couldnt contact the place. Pls help.

OP here.

Some info I forgot.

Like I said she is very obviously an indoor cat, balinese/himaleyan/siamese. BUT, she is matted and has a few battle scars from fights, signs she's been outside for awhile.
>>
Fuck 'em, she's your cat now.
>>
Maybe ask around the area that was listed on the address. The owner may have put up missing posters with updated contact info in nearby stores.

I lost my ragdoll cat when I was in high school. We were moving out of state and he got outside while we were moving furniture a week before we had to leave. We put up posters but never heard anything. I hope he found a good home at least.

I mean, if you like piss everywhere, get the males.
You probably have shit taste anyway, seeing as you want parasitic sociopaths in your home.

One of each cat usually results in less fighting.
But if you get them as kittens together they usually get along fine regardless. granted they're in a relativly stress free envrionment.

How many people would it take to kill a silverback gorilla with their bare hands.

Would any special hand-to-hand combat training make a difference?

Always wanted to know this. Seems like a good place to ask.

I mean, have you seen their skulls?
Just punching the thing looks like it would fucking break your hand. Not to mention their sagittal crest could probably provide a bite force strong enough to rip most any part of the human anatomy off, barring the thickest parts.
Man, I think twenty people would still have a hard time. That gorilla would mow through your average niggas like steamroller.

LINE combatives trained Marine here.

I could kill you in less than 3 seconds

It might take me a minute to kill a gorilla, but the mechanics are the same. If you don't understand what I'm doing you're going to die.
>>
>>2149161
How could you compensate for the Gorilla's immense strength though? Is it not a factor?

Hi /an/

I'm looking for your advice even tho I know it ultimately comes down to my decision.

A coworker is looking to rehome her dog (pic related - one on the left). She is 9 months old and potty trained and all that good stuff and my 1.5 year old (the one on the left) gets along with her and they love playing with each other.

Money isn't really a concern and I have a big fenced yard so they have plenty of room to play but I still have reservations about taking another dog into my home and ruining the dynamic I currently have.

Would the pros outweigh the cons? How much more work is two than one?

Any advice would be welcome especially if someone has been in the situation where they've taken in a second dog.

I was in a similar situation with my cat. I debated for months on weather if I should get her a companion. One day I decided to go for it and it truly couldn't have worked out better. The cats love each other! I'm relieved that she has a "friend" and I feel it brings a more peaceful aura to my home. I'm confident bringing the dog into your home will bring you mostly joy. It looks like the two get along from your pictures. They are also both close in age.

If you have the money, resources, and time then I'd say go for it! For me the only draw back to having the second cat is more messes to clean up.

Just ensure if you make a decision to stick to it. It does no justice to the animal to adopt it and then give it away.
>>
>>2149086
introduce your dog to hers several times. also have them interact in your home. a dog may be friendly towards another dog on neutral ground but might be guarding in its home. if they well being around each other after several visits i don't see why you shouldn't adopt her.

i'm not saying that they'll always get along or that there won't be any bumps in the road because that's to be expected

When I adopted her the shelter had her down as a pitbull, but now that she's gotten bigger I think she might have some GSD in her as well. She's almost a year old and probably a little over 80 lbs
