so i want to start working in one of skill trades.
I'm located in NYC. ideally i would like a trade where i'm not lifting heavy things all day, since i'm skinny as hell.
preferably installing some equipment or doors/windows/finishing, whatever. stuff like tiles, wood, wiring would be nice, too.
which of these is easier to accomplish and get into and how to go about doing so without spending thousands on tuition in training schools?

im 30 years old. im the only one in my family who hasnt had my teeth worked on for cavities and shit. im also the only one in my family who doesnt go to the dentist. my brother just came home with a bill estimate of almost 2,000 dollars of dental work they wanted to do on him when he went in for a teeth cleaning. So my mates and I had got drunk and went to a club, and we were just dancing in our own circle. A girl came up to me and told me to make out with my friend. I said no, and she went away again. However, she kept coming back and asking me again and again, maybe 6 times, each time I said no.
Her friend later came up to me and forcibly made out with me. I was really not comfortable with it and it has upset me. I didn't even know what the friend looked like because she ran off before I saw her. From my friends' description she wasn't attractive.
Am I just being stupid here? Cos it's genuinely upset me a lot.

Hello, I'm helping my friend with picking a laptop. I found one on sale for great price (13% off) but the thing is it has Spanish keyboard layout. She's Lithuanian. It might be a dumb question but I wanted to ask if she will be able to type characters such as č š ų į ū and other she might need. Will it work fine after changing the input language in windows ?

Beginning my second year of university, in bad academic standing, thus am placed in academic probation. Thinking maybe Computer Science is not meant for me, at least the "science" part isn't (math mostly). Haven't gotten a clear image of it yet to be honest. I see myself programming behind the screen in office/at home with fair/good pay at a company/industry. Nothing beyond complex.
One of my sister's boyfriend is a Computer Scientist and all he does is just programs in a company making good bucks. Really pushes me to one up him but my conscience says its not safe.

Let me tell you my story so far;

But she said she has feelings for me and I developed my feelings too for her since we see each other everyday. Her contract is for 2 years and she said that are gonna be together for 2 years.
I need advice. I know I have to play this game well but I am afraid that I might lose the game and I do not want that to happen. I want to win this game, the game of emotions. I can see she is tougher than I am in terms of controlling feelings. Can I have some advice on how to manage this situation? I do not want to lose her but I do not want to fall too much too.

Hey /adv/, homeless dude here.
Long story short, I lost my full-time job of three years a couple of weeks ago. I have been living in my car for the past seven months from pay check to pay check just trying to survive and pay down my debts, but with the loss of my job, I am literally in the red now.
Between my phone bill, my car insurance, my credit card minimum payments per month, and what it takes in both gasoline for my car and food every month, I literally don't make enough money from my new part-time job to survive.
My bank account is negative $100.00 and change, I don't get paid until Friday, and my car insurance payment is due today (won't be withdrawn until Friday). I'm scrambling to find another part-time job to fill the gap left by my old job, but I'm having such a hard time that I think I might just have to fold. I might be better off selling my car, and my possessions except for my clothes and some of my personal belongings. Bankruptcy might help me temporarily, but in the long run I an afraid that it would hurt me more than I know.
If anyone here has ever been in a similar kind of situation, what advice would you offer someone like me?

I got into a fight with my brother. I'm 25 and he's 23. We're living together. He wanted me to read his cover letter for a resume he is going to submit. It wasn't due right then and there and I had an appointment that I was going to be late to. He badgered me into reading it before I left and I relented. I go to read and he's there proofreading it so I say, "Come on, let's go, let me read it," and he freaks out and says, "Dont bother if you're going to be like this" and didn't let me read it. This came a day after we got into it for something that was my fault and that I apologized for. I feel like he's holding it over my head and that generally he tends to be manipulative if I tell him no, he gets upset. He literally left the apartment and he went back to our parents house and acted like I killed a puppy. My mom is taking his side and I'm pretty sure this is the "last straw" with me far as they're concerned.
Is this manipulative behavior? Is there any chance he'll cool off? Is there anyway to get them to generally respect my boundaries and respect me more in general? I know this is some childish shit but, like, it's fucking my life up and it's part of a trend of behavior on their part where everything turns into a power struggle. I feel like they arent willing to compromise with me on any level.
Am I in the wrong or are they?

There are a lot of people on /r9k/ that believe there's a time-limit on experience that people accrue, and that relationships older than 25 are radically different from any other sort. The demands are different, and the playing field is totally different as an amount of experience is expected.
To me, it sounded like people feeding their insecurities and fears and masquerading that as life experience, but it also might be true.
That man may be incredibly lucky.
