Getting real tired of the cooling fan ruining my immersion in games like Tomb Raider and Shenmue.
I can't believe normies never complained about this going from their silent PSXs and N64s into the 6th gen consoles' typhoon of blowing noise.
.
I have read on another forum that the DC will shut off if the fan isn't drawing 5V or if it stops spinning.
But I also read someone on /vr/ unplugged their DC's cooling fan and the console still worked even months later.
If I do this should I replace the thermal paste on the stock heatsink with new cream?
Should I install a larger, aftermarket heatsink?
.
Also, what lubricant is best for reducing disc drive noise? Should I put the lube on the spindle shaft or the worm gear or both?

Love the dreamcast, but the analog stick has always been awful. The tiniest bit of sweat makes my thumb fly off it.
Were there any worthwhile 3rd Party Dreamcast controllers with a rubber analog stick?

I have a kinda solution to this because I had a similar problem. I had to buy Chinese knockoff PS2 controllers because for some reason eBay keeps charging too much for them. So I got 2 knockoff ones for $6 for the pair. They work flawlessly but the analog stick heads are plastic.
Here's what I did:
I got athletic tape (because felted grippy surface on non sticky side) and put it on the top of the analog sticks. Now they are grippy, and my thumbs no longer slip. It looks low rent but whatever, it works.

I think the first game is better in every regard. I've played through the first several times and I've never gotten sick of it. I played through the second maybe twice and I was dying of boredom each time.

Why were there so many different revisions of the Genesis with varying audio/video quality? Were the good ones priced any different than the bad ones? I just booted up a Genesis my brother gifted me and it looks like shit; switching from RF to composite barely made a difference. Are there any cheap mods to improve video output on a bad model 2 (VA1.X) or am I better off getting an HD graphics model 1?

Perhaps, but I've hit similar walls with 9x games and have found a PCem install to be useful now and then. Sucks, but I can't speak for your case desu. Sounds like if gog and patches didn't work it's probably fucked in Win 10 64 though.
