Has a character in your campaigns or a campaign you played ever committed suicide?
Kind of. It was more of an assisted suicide or a mercy killing.
My character was bitten by a vampire and started turning. Rather than see himself become a monster he asked the party to behead him.
In a Call of Cthulhu oneshot, attempted suicide. Didn't work because of bike helmet.
All the time. I Allah akbur quite frequently to everyone's dismay

I want to start some BFG with a few friends, as paper proxies can make up for the models we don't have, and by all accounts it is an utterly awesome game about spess ships in spess.
So: What do you recommend for starting factions? Any good ol' tall tales from your time in the void? Inspirational words of wisdom? Starting lists?
>>54353983
if your just learning start with chaos and imperial navy.
List-wise start with pure cruiser fleets for the first few games.
>>54353983
spam swords and torpedo dauntlesses
Play DropFleet Commander instead. It was written by the same designer as a chance to fix the mistakes he'd made 15 years ago in BFG that hindsight had made clear.
So my latest game idea is that dragons and the races of man killed each other off entirely, and the only sapients left are several varieties of kobolds.
How do? Or alternatively, talk me out of it.
In any case, post kobolds! Emphasis on different kinds.
>>54352985
I would just say do something that isn't kobolds since they're kind of overdone, but it's your game. do what makes you happy.
Always been fond of the pangolin idea, myself.
OP, I love it, go full steam ahead.
But you gotta throw dog kobolds in there too. The lizard kobolds won't understand how they squeezed out of the dragon/human conflict and it was cause race wars.
>believing swords are better than maces
>tfw you learn a secret technique to reverse your sword so that it strikes with the force of a mace
what now macefags? gonna cry?
watch you don't break your cheekbones in when you try to dry those tears with your precious mace
>>54352674
While I am completely in favor of maces, I'll grant the sword has some decent qualities.
-Doesn't require much strength.
-Has a large damage dealing area which can make it easy to hit things with.
-Easy to wear.
-Fast and light defensive weapon.
-More reach than a mace.
-Small two handed ones like the longsword have the flexibility of stabbing, cutting, and bashing.
Still, I like the mace more. Takes no training to use (just physical strength), effective against almost any type of armor, you can hit with any side of it, easy to produce, easy to maintain, hard to break.
Swords are objectively cooler like Excalibur and Japanese katana nobody cares about a metal ball on a stick you caveman
We all know the forgotten Realms. The adventurers are endless in number, the geography is weird to say the least, Greenwood is inevitably masturbating behind a curtain somewhere, and the gods are cunts.
But what is it actually like being a god in Faerun? Are you a dispersed intelligence capable of manifesting? Are you a powerful individual who can hear prayers and has amazing powers?
For that matter, what responsibilities do the gods have, how much do do their worshippers infuse on their consciousness, and how much influence does someone like, say, Vaprak, god of Ogres have on the physical world? How does Gruumsh's power compare with the temporal power of an Orc king like Obould Many Arrows?
What is it like BEING a god?
Sune, Hanali Celanil, and Loviatar go around slutting and get away with it. Corellon cheats on his wives all the time and gets away with it. Helm caused 4e and semi got away with it. Asmodeus ended the Blood War and achieved godhood by doing what he was going to do anyway. Selune does fuck-all and actively encourages her worshippers to never side with good or evil despite being a good goddess and got away with it. Kelemvor is still god of death and the Wall of the Faithless still stands, so he obviously got away with that.
I am tempted to say being a god is awesome, based on that information.
>>54352187
Didn't Kelemvor get rid of the Wall, and made the afterlife a paradise, then got told to cut that shit out by good AND evil gods because it made them look bad, which effected him so much he put it back and dropped from good to neutral?
Requesting elves. Bonus points for androgynous/trap characters in bright, tropical clothes
When's the last time you took a shit in a campaign?
I don't play with autists or scat fetishists, so presumably sometime "off-screen".
any RPGs with poop mechanics?

>Using ancient public restrooms.

>Alternative history
>England and France are merged.
>Anglo-french colonies in north america.
>Consist of the same part of british and french people.
How would the language develop? English with more french words? Or the other way around? Especially because the colonies become independent later.
Britain still speaks english and france still speaks french in this timeline.
>>54347850
>Britain still speaks english and france still speaks french in this timeline.
You know that's impossible, any merger happening so early would have (as normal) have the British royalty speak French, that's bound to get down to the peasants, especially if there are still French language reforms in this timeline.
>>54347876
I thought around this timehas the English language already developed?
>>54347850
Long term, us Britons would eventually end up speaking French. They'd bleed into eachother a bit, so you'd probably end up with some kind of Frenglish dialect.
Depends how long we're talking too, and what approach the French took to the different languages.
>knife does 1d4 damage
>sword does 1d8 damage
Besides the obvious changing dice size and number, and excluding obviously magical effects, what are some differences individual weapons of the same weapon type? A few ideas I had are...
>add a mechanic where if your attack is blocked you role a d20
>individual weapons have a HP limit and if the roll is higher than the weapons limit it breaks
a simple one, but
>different weapons have different ranges
additionally;
>different weapons modify the rolls for various defensive and offensive actions. A rapier is better at parrying than a greatsword, for example. A greastsword is better at crushing through a parry due to raw force.
>>54346447
Fascinating concept, I feel it would work with armor as well. How about a mechanic to see how deeply a piercing weapon penetrates a target's flesh, with deep penetration being much more damaging, but also much more difficult to take the weapon out of.
>>54346447
In my homebrew martial arts system, weapons have different damage depending on their size and weight (I have a weight-damage chart). Wooden weapons can be blocked bare-handed, but metal weapons, especially slashing or piercing, can't, and the benefits of having a metal weapon yourself is that you may parry with less risk. Otherwise you're stuck with dodging everytime, or else you'll take fatal wounds.
You can also have weapons with special abilities like disarm, break bones, inflict bleed, crush armor, without them even being magic. Another solution is to make rolls with different stats, for example using strength for a polearm when you know you won't miss.
"Hey let's keep putting super situational skill stats like swimming that no one will ever use!"
>>54343649
that OP pic makes me feel like I've seen it before but I'm not sure I want to know where
>>54343649
Fuck off Angelica.
>>54343649
Maybe there are other uses for swimming than just swimming in water,.
Would your character use it?
if he could destroy civilisation with it, yeah
what is it?
>Vampires are anomalies created by TIME in order to destabilize the time streams of various realities.
>>54337685
This is a naturally-occurring reaction in the universe once artificial time-traveling becomes too widespread, because it usually results in the people creating the machines being culled by outbreaks of vampires who only use their time machines long enough to eat all the people.
>all vampires drain *something* from *something*
>only one kind drains blood
>>54337685
TIME of course being the global triumvirate attempting to unite the multiverse under their tyrannical empire. Their true identities are unknown but the multiversal resistance has dubbed them Those Idiots Messing with Eternity
Why should i play Tabletop rpgs? There are video games that offer the same (monster slaying, character optimization, Interaction with other people etc).
>>54336153
More creative freedom and ease of customization.
>>54336153
More depth, than in video games.
Social interaction, player interaction, narrative and improvisation, roleplaying, relaxed instead of rigid rules.
If you just care about mechanics, sure, stick to videogames.

What was up with that?
Making a general thread is a stressful experience. You worry about whether you've got a good image, whether you're going to forget the subject, whether or not to repost old thread jokes in the title...
Alternatively, elves did it.
Did the anon with the Shadowrun manga ever post his translations?

Its going to need a couple of variant chassis,
one with c3i and cooling pods
one with stripped down armament and two C3 Masters.
Reposted from previous thread: mech advanced melee combat options.
I've read it over twice now and I can't tell if it's too complicated or not. There's not a lot of extra dice rolls, but a lot of fiddly modifiers.
>>54332206
that could be the name somebody accidently wrote on the shipping manifest.
