His CR is actually 2, and he is a warforged rogue, but still? It says he should be 2nd level. Also this is my first time as a DM

5e HP is generally higher. You should be able to find some tables for expected HP/CR, I think there's even one in the DMG. Just follow those.

9 is kinda low for a lvl 2 character but not also not unusual if his Con is 10 and he doesn't max hp at first level (the average of 2d8 is 9). But yeah, it should be higher in 5e.

I tought of using the DMG monster stat table, where I can find hp, damage per turn, save dc and CR. But if I follow the CR I should end up with an NPC whose hp is 30-40, but he is supposed to be level 2?

Dark Sun should be somewhat unforgiving. What that means for you is that you need to be more strict as a DM, but not be a Dick. Firm but fair is probably the best thing to remember. I like to enforce carrying capacity and food and water requirements more when traveling, but less so while in civilization. You're going for gritty, not boring, so keep in mind that the purpose of these rules is to set the tone of the setting and drive the story, not to add another late of management for your players.

My group once made a setting were the main human faction was a very large empire, that had conquered its smaller neighbors and claimed all "easy" territory.
Now the Empire had reached a point where if it was to expand, it would have to fight lengthy wars in difficult terrain.
A lot of the campaign was focused on the invasion of a forest inhabited by a pretty large wood elf kingdom, the war quickly degenerated into a Vietnam style conflict (ambushes, search-and-destroy patrols etc), with political resentment against the costly war, from a population that was accustomed to easy victories.

Also the threat of monsters can still be very real, you could easily replace "Celts" with orcs or whatever monster faction of your fancy.

I have continent-spanning empires and I have petty kingdoms. As one who wrote both, I can tell you that the latter are flat out more interesting, at least to a GM.

I say we should integrate them into our society so that way we can better understand why they behave. Who knows? We might even learn something about yourselves. After all, all goblins aren't violent, only the violent ones are violent. We can even change them for future generations!

I now work as a corrections officer in the state of Florida, and I'll tell you that I've seen several inmates with pathfinder books. Currently there are two that I know of in different dorms that plan campaigns and run them (I assume at night after the days work is done) but I've never actually seen them sit down to play, only making up character sheets, and planning the next encounter.

How they get the books is another story entirely, they are allowed to order them through a mailing company, that pretty much reams them on the price (Full MSRP+ $5 shipping (abouts) for each book) but when you are in prison I suppose you take what you can get.

Prisons are my magical realm, so I try to avoid them in games.

A new spellburst savant archetype homebrew I put together, as I had fun with the Phenomenal Prestidigitator. This one also has a bit of a bardic theme but in a rather different way. They can be combined, if you want.
