Given that the Slaaneesh we all know seems almost certain to die soon, could a more minor Chaos entity step up and take her mantle? If so, what might this entity be, and how could it be different yet still hold the mantle of Pride, perfection and Excess?

I'd say that Cherabuel or another being of his sort would be a likely candidate. They get to take many of the same aspects and keep most of the same underlying flaws that would lead to a fall toward this deity, but they'd also get to remove the whole 'Multiple peirced nipples and octo-genitalia' aspect that the company is desperat to dump.

Maybe straight up replace her with Fulgrim? Or Miriael Sabathiel?
>>
>>51504490
No. Slaneesh is against the PG13 rating GW is going for. This is the real reason of xer's demise.
>>
>>51504490
I'd say Slaanesh would only partially die - the part that was born from Eldar debauchery would be erased by Ynnead, but the part born from human pride and hubris would persist.

How do you make a game focus on high mobility and stealth? Are there any games that have good mechanics for mobility and stealth that aren't just handwaving?

Been playing the Assassin's Creed games lately and kinda want something where it feels like the characters are working together as silent wall climbing murder ninjas.

I've always thought that a good way of handling things would be a system where it's not binary whether you've fucked up and fallen/gotten caught, but instead you fail and that means you're in danger of failing harder if you don't take steps to undo the failure. So in a normal game a guard would find you if you fail the Stealth roll, but instead you fail your Stealth roll and now the guard is actively searching for you and making Stealth rolls instead of taking five, and maybe attracted to the sound of the noise, so now you have to hide somewhere.
Stealth that's more than just the "Stealth" skill would also be good.

For mobility it's something I think about sometimes as well (like how would you make a racing rpg interesting for instance). They key to any RPG of course is clear, distinct choices. So you'd probably have different approaches to freerunning (street sprinting, rooftop jumping, back ally sneaking, wall climbing, etc) and give each of them their particular strengths and weaknesses

Sell me on it.
Got the early access PDF to share? 20$ seems an awful lot for a kickstarted PDF. The idea of playing a *crew* also seems good. I had kind of been wanting something revolutionary (for SOME REASON unrelated to world events) so leading one of those'd be fun.

>>51504327
Also a good idea. How to specifically do that, though?
The last Chronicles of Darkness book had some really good system suggestions for making fight scenes more interesting using, essentially, environmental modifiers and working the location into your actions. Stuff like going over rooftops being risky but fast, while being on the ground means you're more likely to be spotted tailing someone...

What would be the best way to play a victorian fantasy campaign with horror elements? Think Bloodborne or Van Helsing.

I was thinking of using the World of Darkness system but they generally focus on the beasts rather than the "others", so I don't know how easy it would be to play say, Werewolf as the hunters.

>>51503562
So what part of the Victorian setting do you like? If it's just the aesthetic then you don't need any mechanics, if there's a part of the society you think would be interesting on the other hand then we can probably come up with something for that
>>
>>51503868
Mechanics-wise I think I'd be interested in being able to handle large or otherwise deadly classical beasts (werewolves, vampires, ghouls) in an environment geared primarily towards early guns and mechanical contraptions like repeating crossbows that can also handle a certain degree of magic coming mostly from the players' opponents

But other than that, the setting is very malleable and admittedly generic so I don't think I'd have much trouble cramming it into any system that can allow that kind of thing
>>
>>51503968
>But other than that, the setting is very malleable and admittedly generic so I don't think I'd have much trouble cramming it into any system that can allow that kind of thing
so there's nothing about Victorian society in particular which you want to do?

In MT:G circles, you have Spikes, Timmies and Johnnies. Spikes play to win, Timmies play to feel powerful, and Johnnies play to feel smart.

But those rules don't hold true for D&D players -- at least, not for any edition other than 3rd. What kinds of psychographic profiles are there for TTRPG players?

Spikes take the most optimized options.
Timmys take the flashiest options.
Johnys are harder to pin point IMO. I guess they try to use options in unexpected ways, or completely circumvent challenges.

No, because an ageless creature would very like not consider death to be a certainty, whereas mortal beings would be more willing to sacrifice themselves because they have an instinctive understanding that death is a certainty for them.

I've got an idea for a dungeon set in an oceanside cave, with massive tidal changes throughout the day. But I'm worried it'd be a logistical nightmare keeping track of water level like that. It'd mean I'd have to make detailed maps with elevation markers for where the water is at different times of day.

Suggestions for making it easier? Or other neat things I could do with a dungeon like this (for lower-level adventurers--around 4th or 5th level)?

Trying to settle a dispute with a friend.
Both of us are Dungeon Masters with some different viewpoints on particular matters, always friendly conversations thankfully. But last week we had a bit of a stronger argument about Originality in game design and ideas.
In essence, we were talking about where the line is between complete originality and complete "theft" (or borrowing, we affectionately can call it) that must not be crossed, else the game is no longer enjoyable for anyone.
We've both held games that were... "Inspired"... before, and we came to the conclusion that no matter how "inspired" a concept was to begin with, it would always be fairly open and changable the moment the players sit at the table, never "YOU CAN'T DO THAT, THAT'S NOT HOW IT WENT IN _______!!!" etc.
But still we differed in the level of how original a game has to be in entirety before it stops being enjoyable to a general group. (I say general group because obviously there will always be a group who would love to do an RPG based on *insert source here*.)
So, what do you think? Where does the line sit with you? How "original" do you think a game plan has to be? Can a game mechanic, such as the Majora's Mask three day moon falling, be used in a game? How do inspired concepts and mechanics, dilemmas and conflicts, puzzles and monsters, themes and, for lack of better words, ideas, whether minor or major, fair in shared storytelling?

I love original games.
>>
>>51501063
There really is no line. It depends more on approach and execution than anything. Most of the time people roleplay, they are using a system designed by other people, and they may well be playing a pre-made adventure/module. It's hard to get less original than that. But okay, that's not even trying to do your own thing. So maybe you run something that's inspired by something else. Or maybe you even run a tweaked version of something else, either modifying an existing system (like OSR games) or reconfiguring an adventure module. And then there's all the area in between. As long as you're honest and upfront about what you're doing--and your players don't suddenly notice that your seemingly-original adventure is actually ripping off the plot to a popular movie or something--you should be fine. The difference between a tribute or re-telling and a rip-off really all comes down to this.
