>What are some cards you think will be staples?
Khans Fetches
>Have you built a deck yet?
Tried, but the cardpool is too shallow and broken for anything fun or original
>>51483955
>What are some cards you think will be staples?
Coco, fetches, andcryptolith rite: the format.
>Have you built a deck yet?
Every time I try to brew something for Frontier I just think of some card in Modern or Legacy that would make the deck ten times better and get distracted.

Any examples?
Why are Warlocks evil?
>>51480997
Usually because they're in league with not-Satan, not-Cthulhu, particularly dickish faeries, or something else powerful and spooky.
>>51481020
This, really. Most incarnations of warlocks are individuals who enter into pacts with malevolent or incomprehensible entities in exchange for power.
>>51480997
As above, also in the real world a warlock was basically a man who sold his soul The devil in exchange for being a wizard or some shit.
As compared to the historical witch, a female who sucked The devil's dick for the same.

Will spess navies in the future use Naval Terms or is this some weird fluke of Sci-Fi?
Has any military have any sort of official statement as regards to this?
>>51467919
As of now, USA and Russian Military's space stuff are handled by their respective air forces. So air force ranks.
China is an oddball: their spess shit is handled by the Rocket Forces (read: Nukes), so Army ranks.
This may also help.
>>51467919
I don't know why it would be considered a weird fluke. People have considered sailing the heavens long before man first flew.
>Has any military have any sort of official statement as regards to this?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Force_Space_Command
The US military considers it to be the jurisdiction of their airforce.
>>51467919
Funny thing is that sci-fi may inspire them to use naval terms. It could very well turn out to be a case of life imitating art.

I'm making a Ballad game set in the Star Wars universe. Right now, I'm making the weapons. This basically means trawling Wookiepedia and assigning blasters to Ballad gun statlines. Does anyone have any suggestions on how these guns should be statted? Special Rules or Blaster specific considerations? I'm debating how to handle ammo, and whether to make it the same as Ballad or make it more like canon and have each gas pack hold a couple hundred shots. Races are also a question. I think most of the humanoid races (humans, Rodians, Duros) will basically be all the same stat and PCP wise, but I'm not sure how to do shit like Wookies or droids.
Once this is done, I will of course be sharing it here.
Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games.
Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

Wookies have a special racial variant of Big Guy and have access to the Wookie Armory for bowcasters and shit. They have + to physical stats. Throw in a line about how they don't need winter clothes to survive on Hoth or something. Boom, done.
While we're on the subject of content and homebrew, one of my players gave into his intense autism and made a table for determining how hard it is to hear a silenced gun. He managed to make it fairly usable too. If you're playing a stealth game it might be useful.
Why make up rules needing one d20 when you can use 4 d6 (minimum 4, maximum 24)

Fuck /tg/ I fucked up my lore bad
my biggest problem is language because I want the universal language to be English (or at least the Not! version of it) but that contradicts the fact that cities in this world clearly have very not!Japanese names, in fact, I got fucked by giving every city and region a not!Japanese name to go with it (Mostly due to a need to have thing consistent in the early days of the campaign) now if I want to have more than one language, I have to explain first why every place follows the same nomenclature norms of just one language
my only option right now is "Everyone calls it something different depending on the region” but that feels like It’s gonna fuck me over when I forget what the snowy areas call the Desert land
any ideas?
>>51518730
Common is the Merchant's Tongue. People who want to wheel and deal with PCs know it. Some words slip into the regular languages of places they visit.
>>51518730
I'll give an example of something similar to what you're dealing with
In Avatar: the Last Airbender everyone speaks "English" but all the people and places have very Asian-sounding names. There's even several moments where someone translates the Asianese into whatever the characters are speaking.
Whenever someone reads something, the written language is conspicuously Asian in style.
There is zero variation in the language. Everyone speaks the same tongue whether they live in a metropolitan capital city or an igloo at the bottom of the fucking world.
No one has any problem with this and no one should because it's a complete non-issue.
It's just a convention to speed things up, like aliens speaking English.

Let's start this thread with some bingo!

Biel-Tan still exists, Anon.
Could I ask for you input on parts of setting I'm trying to build? I've been trying to lay the groundwork for several major continents in the setting where the PCs will eventually find themselves, one of which is the asian kitchen sink in the vain of L5R and Khans where many of the asian cultures coexist on a massive mainland.
As far as details I've nailed down the following:
A mountain range with a particular mountain that is bigger than everest seperates the !Asian continent from the !Europe one. The shared religious belief of the land has the creation mythology where 5 gods decended to earth and each one had earthly decendents who make up the various royal families that rule a particular land as well as having formed the rivers that cut across the land. The Emperor and the 4 other families are distantly related and ever so often a a member from each family is sent to wed the emperial heir. And finally the overall technological level of the setting is basically a magitek industrial age so 20's 30's sort of look but with magitech.
>>51518196
A bit more detail of the setting:
The history of humanity and other races I havn't decided on yet spans about 5000 years as human were not originally from the world they currently inhabit.
The super everest moutain is significant because it's also the spot where the humans essentially landed and then spread out in the rest of the world.
In the unified religious belief of the !Asian continent they believe in the Onyx Court of Heaven which is where all the gods and spirits reside and presided over by the Emperor of the Onyx Court and Infinite Heavens (his full title).
After some great battle his 5 sons were rewarded for their loyalty by being given dominion over the land above and they descended down the mountain. One of the brothers decided to stay at the base of the mountain where he built a shrine to his father. The other 4 walked the land and went their seperate ways where they founded their own kingdoms along the path they walked which formed into the 4 sacred rivers which flows from the base of the mountain.
So far I've pegged the Eastern most nation which is a blended version of Japanese/Korean.
The Southern area is has more of a Southeastern Asian flavor I havn't decided on yet but the Royal family essentially lives on a massive island with a city acting as bridges that connect the mainland to the palace island.
The Western area where the moutain is and the northern area I havn't quit figured out what I wanted to do yet since I havn't nailed down what geography is prominent yet.
>>51518196
If they aren't native, who are the native races?
Where are they and how are their relationships with each kingdom?
What are their unique specialty in martial arts, seeing that you are trying to make a kungfu setting?
>>51518606
Kung fu stuff is only part of it as it's one of the many nations in the setting.
The only native race on the planet are the amphibious merfolk who were essentially in their stone age before humans arrived and know the most about humanities origins having met the original humans.

Sup /tg/? I'm trying to build a world but I'm having some issues. How do you guys name things? I find it oddly hard to do so.
>>51517860
I just make up names that I think sound cool because I don't obsess over what a bunch of neckbears on /tg/ think.
>>51517860
Usually using random word combinations, or using a mix of other languages or a modification of a scientific name.
It took me way to long to realize that's a pic of three pigs eating.
>>51517860
Awww Piggies!
Hey, listen: how to name things? It's really easy. Look up the Atlas of True Names
It's stupid good for naming places, because real place names are incredibly stupid. There's a place in Scotland named that was named "Hill" in ancient gaelic. When the romans moved in, they named it (ancient gaelic Hill) Hill, in latin. And in modern times, it became (ancient Gelic, Ancient Latin) Hill. Hill Hill Hill", when you translate it all.
There's fucking tons of places with really stupid names when you get right down to it, hell, you probably live in a place with a stupid name,
I'm looking for mechanics to support a social/charisma based character with a small horde of comparatively weak minions with a variety of different skill sets.
What systems have done this well?
D&D 3.5 / Pathfinder
>>51517617
3.5 rarely does anything well. I did observe their leadership feat. Granting someone 135 level 1 followers seems both absurd and mechanically cumbersome.
I'm not specifically stuck on d20, btw. I assume with its social tree being a core part of character creation World of Darkness would have something like this but I've not seen it.
>>51517649
You have backgrounds like that on vampire
I was looking through old cards I had to sell (only collected them because they were Pokémon related, now I enjoy yugioh and only play the Pokémon vidja, so I was wondering if this card was a first edition or not, since I heard if it was it was worth a fuckload of money. Pic related, is my grubby hand holding the card out of sleeve for minimum glare. Yes it is holo.
>>51517439
First Editions say First Edition dumbass
>>51517439
not first edition and in terrible condition. you might get a dollar for it.
>>51517439
Base set Raichu, not 1st edition, not shadowless. It's not in great condition, either.
When selling cards, the best way to check value is to search ebay and select "show only sold listings". Looks like about $4 is what you can expect for your card.
If you want to discuss the pokemon TCG, you'll find much more interest at /vp/. They still probably won't care about your old cards, though.
