Warhammer 40,000 vs. BattleTech!
>Neutral uninhabited world
>Prior agreement of forces deployed
>Victory determined by number of individual engagements won
Using the setup what would the Imperials bring to bear, especially for planet fall? And I'm counting all Imperial armies as one for this. (Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Inquisition, Sisters of Battle, Imperial Knights, Adeptus Mechanicus)
Also what would a Devlin Stone style coalition (Mechs and tech from Inner Sphere, Clan, and Com-Star) field for such a challenge?
Would each internal faction fight on their own in separate engagements or could a mix of unit formations be possible?
>Imperial Guard vs Conventional Infantry
>IG/SM tanks/speeders/aircraft vs tanks/hovers/vtols/aerospace fighters
>Space Marines vs Battle Armor/Elementals
>Dreadnaughts/Dreadknights/Penitent Engines vs ProtoMechs
>IG Sentinels/Knights/Titans vs BattleMechs/OmniMechs
I feel like it's dead even up till the mechs, once titans come into play it'd take whole lances/stars of assaults to even bother them.
And space battles? Forget it. Unless I'm miss remembering AeroTech, Battlefleet Gothic dwarfs BT spaceships in scale alone.
Also I would love to see a mockup fight using 40k epic scale minis.

yeah seems about right.
Even a clanner is probably going to shit his pants the first time he encounters all 2500 tonnes of a warlord titan.

Imperial stuff does tend to have an advantage in force scale, an imperial invasion typically has many more infantry and tanks than a Btech force seems to be depicted.

That's why prefered scenario has some sort of force scale balancing.

I love BT but 40k wins hands down. The fluff is written as individual soldiers doing completely unbelievable feats, while their -transports- can ruin continents.

I'd still kill for a madcat in 40k.

What is this aberration?

/tg/
I had an idea for an IG chapter. The idea was that they have a psyker, who's sole purpose is to telepathically link their ground commanders with all the troops perception.

The base idea is that the commander has complete omniscience within the operational area of their troops, and thus can make better informed and quicker decisions. The massive amount of information is processed by the psyker and any other human they use in this link like wiring a bunch of CPUs together to increase processing power.

Would Narnia make a good campaign setting?
11 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Sure, why not.
>>
>>53103723
Probably not.
Narnia is a setting which values narrative and symbolism over internal coherence. This is fine for a book but is really hard to convert into a campaign setting.
It would also depend on which book you were trying to capture in your conversion. Some would probably work better than others.

>>53104643
Yeah but Tolkien's stuff values narrative and symbolism over fantasy wankery, yet you can still have fantasy wankery in Tolkien's setting if you so chose and it could still be thematically appropriate.

For example the PC's could play a batch of new children to enter a reborn Narnia and they could still make all their own decisions without Lewis's Christian morality play such a commanding role. It could merely be used as a plot device if the children go down a darker path, and Aslan could actually turn against them or something.

I think Narnia would be a very fun setting with all the talking animals, evil false gods, random mythological creatures and whatnot.

Anybody tried this?

It seems pretty neat.

I'm imagining doing 3d dungeons with it.

And saving said combat maps and such in advance.

How is it?

How does it compare to the other options?

I was skeptical about Tabletop Simulator when it first came out, but it is my second most played game on Steam now.

What the guy is doing in that video only scratches the surface of what you can do for rpgs TTS. There are mods you can use to easily set up, save, and recall maps that include 3d models and stuff without loading a whole new table.
There are now interactive character sheets so you don't necessarily need to use the tablet if you're playing D&D.

>>53103469
If you mean hills, TTS works fine. If you mean two-story buildings with models on both floors, it's a pain in the ass.

Make it so that their godly powers can be passed down or bequeathed to others of their bloodline. Maybe its a magic artifact, maybe its divine power, maybe its just understanding how electricity works, but they have something that only they can do that makes them "gods".

We got stuck in a groundhog day loop where we kept getting instagibbed by some stupidly overpowered wizard.

We almost killed him a number of times, but he had fucking contingencies and escapes and bullshit cloning himself out of flesh golems like miles away.

And then it was resolved when we finally said the right thing to some fucking hobo, so the invisible time dragon that was watching him for who-fucking-knows-what reason knew that we were keeping our memories through the timeloops, and we knew what the problem was. We got like turbohasted or something and him getting beaten was just handwaved.

And then I wasn't allowed to use that Cunning Planner feat to have borrowed another character's soul-eating talisman so I could be super vindictive, because I'd pulled a fucking compass out of my ass 20 loops earlier, and he said it was still 'the same' item, despite the fact it was a fucking compass, I had a total of 750gp's worth of shit to pull out of my ass, and all other per day abilities got refreshed when the day looped.

The entire timeloop garbage took like three fucking sessions total. We were banging our heads against the fucking wall most of the time.

So protip for GMs!

If you think a timeloop that keeps undoing the party dying instantly over and over makes it okay? It isn't. At all. It's frustrating.

Have you ever played/run a vampire game like DSP's Lords of the Night is supposed to let you play? Is it way too niche a concept for Pathfinder? Is it too fantasy WoD?

I haven't played one, but I'm about to start one.

I'm debating allowing players to be other kinds of undead, like just Necropolitan or DSP undead races. It's in the air.
