Because that's how it used to be since a lot of the people who were eligible to go to college way back when actually had a chance. World took a massive shift economically in the 1970s-1990s, and now you have a huge surplus of college grads/students who have basically no hope at ever getting what they went to school for. This is why I hate how much college is shoved down everyone's throats. Unless if you get top marks in college, I suggest you go to trade school, as chances are you'll be ignored in most job searches if you don't have top tier grades.
