Hey guys, need some advice about some issues with my '98 Saturn SL2.
Just got this car recently from my gfs step-dad. It has 225k miles on it but it's been running great so far.
I parked it and ran into the store today. When I got back into the car I went to pull into traffic and noticed that the steering wheel was very stiff and hard to turn. As i got a little farther down the road it freed up. I pulled into a gas station and it was then I noticed a very loud metallic scraping sound coming from underneath. It was especially loud when starting out in 1st and shifting into 2nd.
I gassed up and put air in my tires and headed home, hoping to make it before my car exploded. Same noise, steering wheel still going in and out of stiff mode, and now I had smoke coming out of my tail pipe. It was pretty white. The weird part is tho, the car seemed to be driving fine (other than the steering wheel), it wasnt overheating or anything or crazy rpms or anything like that, just the noise and white smoke. I drove it home and parked it but I'm scared to drive it to work tomorrow morning.
I'm going to check the oil once its cooled down, thats the only thing her step dad had told me about it was that every week or so I had to check the oil and add more if needed because it burned it up. I have been doing this but I was only putting 1 quart bottle in each time maybe this wasn't enough.
Please any advice would be very appreciated. I rely on this car to get to work everyday.
I also noticed earlier before this all happened that my battery light was on where it never has been before.
metallic scraping? have you made sure all the pulleys are spinning true, and is the belt in good condition?
and is the white smoke coming from the hood or exhaust? could maybe be a pulley seizing up, and youre smoking the belt up. does it smell like burnt rubber?

I need a bit of help with my insurance
A couple weeks ago I rear-ended someone in my foxbody after a day at the track, crushing some 2017 Sentra's bumper cover. I asked what they wanted to do, they asked what I wanted to do, and we came to the conclusion to take each others' numbers and driver's license numbers and they knew a guy who'd get back with an estimate.
Here's the tricky part. My insurance gave me a call today while I was at work explaining that x insurance company filed a claim and since their is no police report that they need me to weigh in.
Is there a way I can get out of it by lying? We agreed that this would stay out of the insurance in order to keep my rates from going up (lol 19) and them out of trouble (car was loud as fuck, could smell the shit before i even got out of my car), wat do
So the other guy used his insurance to pay for his cars damage? Then I guess you can say you didn't do it. Or at least that wasn't the deal. Did he take any pictures of you or your car at the accident?
>>17681229
yeah we took pictures and swapped info, but he didn't take a picture of my car or my plate. Could I Wolf of Wall Street and say that I do not recall?
>>17681318
He has your drivers license so that might be a hurdle. You're the one at fault. So mainly it comes down to how much you want to fuck yourself. Your insurance does not want to pay money, so they'll most likely take your side no matter what you say. But if they do end up paying they'll raise your rates.
what's the point of having an expensive car+parts when you can't see shit of it?

Hey /o/
Me and my mother are considering travelling to the US to buy a car and bring in here, in Europe. I've got around 13k and I was thinking about a Trans Am, C5 Corvette or a 2006 Mustang.
My mom wants a big lifted truck, I don't know anything about them. All I know is that she wants a Ram.
Could you guys recommend me a lifted truck for a my mum under 20k, and which state would be the best to buy cars in? Also, which car would you guys buy? Trans Am? C5? Mustang?
Thanks.
Get yourself a malaise era land yacht if you want something to stand out over there. I'd personally recommend an 80s Grand Marquis or Crown Victoria.
Best state would be a dry landlocked state like Arizona or Utah. Texas would be good as well.
Get a 2003 and newer RAM. With the 5.7 liter Hemi. It's actually part Mercedes design (2 spark plugs and shit) or 2003-2008 Cummins if you want diesel, basically looking for the 5.9 liter inline 6. The 2500 and 3500 that have the diesel have worse turning radius though.
A WS6 Trans Am or C5 would be pretty cool.

Those two cars look really American and unique, but for me I am looking something a bit more thrilling and fast. I really want to visit Texas.

The inner corner in the middle is going to collapse at some point. There's already a crack. Whose idea was it to make the road this sloped?
post the best road to drive in you're state.
I live in Maine and I honestly have no idea. Our roads suck from all the winter shit.
>>17676532
I live in Florida and the only turns around here are on and off ramps.
New York doesn't have roads, it has strings of potholes with some cement humps in between.

Friendly reminder that you aren't a REAL car guy unless you're poor, completely alone, and think about suicide every single day of your life.

What if I'm almost dirt poor, married and once in a while look at modern car culture and get suicidal

Here's something I made a while back. The car is a Renault/Eagle Premier, sold in the US from 1988 to 1992. It was only sold as a sedan, but they originally had planned to release a wagon version.
p-pls no bully
