What are some interesting cars from 90's to 60's that have still not inflated to hobbyist prices?
I can't really think of any. Even base model round light 2002's are stupid expensive now. ($3k for a completely bare rusted shell).
That's with no windows, no interior, missing trim, etc

Old 911s and 912s are the perfect example of a market that's been btfo.

I rode an MT-09 today, it was the first time I ever rode anything with more than 48 PS and I have to say... it wasn't as scary as I thought. Yeah the front gets light if you WOT in 1st or 2nd and I did a sick little drift when I gave a little too much throttle around a left bend but it won't absolutely rek your shit if you're careful with the right hand.
I can see why it'd be a bad bike to start on though. Absolute noobs can't into throttle control. It was pretty jerky as it is, especially while trying to slalom in 2nd.

Okay, so I watched some videos on youtube and I think I understand exhaust scavenging now. It is inadvisable to enlarge the pipes of the exhaust collector pipes (headers) because the stock diameter was chosen by the manufacturer to achieve a usable torque band.

But why not enlarge the diameter of the down-pipe AFTER the headers? I have a high-revving NA engine and I want it to get a larger diameter down-pipe and exhaust, because it is hard to find exhausts that are as narrower as my stock down-pipe (BEAMS SW20). Would it harm my torque band to choose a fatter exhaust?

Should have a fairly fucking good exhaust manifold from the factory, be very wary fiddling with the exhaust because they are tuned from the factory for the stock exhaust and the ecu doesn't necessarily adjust well to changes in air restriction (map sensor).

But to answer your question most of the scavenging occurs in the headers and it's not uncommon for an exhaust to expand out with a cone after the final merge collector.

I know asking about fwd shitboxes results in shitstorms, but are the 2.5L Mazda3's a good car? Looking at V6 pony cars and "tuner" carswithbrice tax and awful insurance rates has me back to FWD economy cars. I dont hoon or race, I jist want low end torque. Thinking Mazda 3 with the 2.5L or maybe a V6 Accord. Dont care for nimbleness or handling.

Mazda 3 is a good choice. The Focus (not the ST or RS) pulls good too but you have to rev high it to get that power, the sedan is more lightweight than the hatchback.

It's only another 2-3 until they reach relative parity IMO.

If I were Lincoln/Cadillac, I would consider suicide.

No. The engine is high compression and very developed. Modding it is basically a waste of money unless you're adding boost and even then it can't take much.

These cars you mod the exhaust for sound and do nothing else. If it's not enough power you buy something else.

C5 Corvette is lighter, highly modable, more reliable and gets better gas mileage.
