Get a 2003 and newer RAM. With the 5.7 liter Hemi. It's actually part Mercedes design (2 spark plugs and shit) or 2003-2008 Cummins if you want diesel, basically looking for the 5.9 liter inline 6. The 2500 and 3500 that have the diesel have worse turning radius though.

A WS6 Trans Am or C5 would be pretty cool.

The C5 is plenty fast and has the legendary LS1. It's a lot more fragile in the sense the panels are all composite, so keep that in mind. Though it's a true sports car through and through. The mustang would make a heavier duty driver. Not anywhere close as being as fast. But the 4.6 liter can sound good with the right exhaust.

It depends which platform you go for. If we're talking about stuff from the Malaise Era, then your best bets are Panthers and B-bodies for reliability. Most truck platforms are also very reliable and easy to repair.

The only American cars you should really avoid are our compacts.

If she's looking to get an old truck, she should totally get a C1500 from the 90s. Mine made it to 253k before I sold it, and it was still kicking.

In any case, if she's in the market for a full size pickup, Ferd or Chevy, take your pick. Avoid FCA products, they're piles of slapped together junk. Keeps mechanics busy, all I'll say. Does it snow where you live? Get a 4x4. Don't get it lifted unless you actually need the extra ground clearance, or get someone to put a lift kit on it back in whatever euro country you come from.

Dodge trucks aren't bad, but the repairs probably won't be as easy as a Chevy's would. The late 80 - early 90s F-150s are rock solid as well I hear.

She's really into Dodge, we saw one of the newer Ram 5.7 models a few weeks ago from an American couple and she fell in love with it. I'll show her the other options tomorrow and see what she thinks though.

In any case, Dodge can be okay but you have to consider that they are still products of Chrysler. You may have issues with electrical malfunction more than you'd want. Depending on how big of a truck she's wanting to bring back, you could pick up an older Ranger for pretty cheap.

but for real if she wants a truck cant go wrong with an old first gen Cummins (1989-1993). Mechanical diesel motor so no shitty electronics to rack up expensive repairs on. bonus points for a 5 speed model. add a 5 inch straight pipe exhaust with 20x12s "bro rims" on 35s for maximum /o/ triggering
