What is the advantage of using an RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type over the RGM-79[G] GM Ground Type? Do they have different reactors? It looks like the gundam has the chest vulcan, multi launcher, and a slightly higher output on the reactor. How do the 2 heads affect performance? Is the ground GM using the same armor? Why did they do away with the back pack option for the ground GM? Cause it looks like the main difference is the ground gundam is made up of rejected gundam parts and they made 20 ish where as the ground GM was made on the same assembly line using all new parts and had 50+ built.
How does the ground GM compare to the standard GM and why was it chosen to standardize on the standard GM over the ground GM?
You look like a gundam so you get 300% more screentime.

>What is the advantage of using an RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type over the RGM-79[G] GM Ground Type?
There is none, other than slight equipment and performance differences that barely matter. The Ground Gundam can carry an equipment container for extended long range missions.

>Do they have different reactors?
Yes. Their reactor outputs are different, and the Ground Gundam has a single cooling vent as opposed to nearly all other Feddy suits that have twin cooling vents.
>How do the 2 heads affect performance?
The head contains sensors. You seem to have already looked up the specs, but I'll mention it anyway. The Ground GM has a sensor range of 6000 metres. The Ground Gundam has a sensor range of 5900 metres.
>Is the ground GM using the same armor?
Yes. They're both armored with luna titanium, and share the same basic layout.
>Why did they do away with the back pack option for the ground GM?
Who knows why. Maybe it's a matter of cost. Maybe they didn't think the Ground GM needed it, seeing as no other mobile suit bothers to carry a backpack container.
>Cause it looks like the main difference is the ground gundam is made up of rejected gundam parts and they made 20 ish where as the ground GM was made on the same assembly line using all new parts and had 50+ built.
Yep.
>How does the ground GM compare to the standard GM and why was it chosen to standardize on the standard GM over the ground GM?
The Ground GM is less versatile (but probably more durable) than the standard GM, and was likely used for testing the waters and collecting data for the eventual rollout of the standard GM. The regular old GM was already in planning for quite a long time, the rollout of the Ground GM was nothing more than a stopgap design to use in battle and to collect operating data.

So when they replace Karen's Gundam's head they are more or less upgrading her Gundam?
Is Gundam a good war drama? Having read multiple books on war dramas that were actually written well, I can't stress how flawed and bad the "war drama" is done in Gundam. Especially fucking Zeta, like what the hell was that shit ending? I kept hearing high praise about it only left to be disappointed. The only one I saw that got a war story RIGHT in UC was WiTP.
I thought 0079 did a good job at that too.

Yes, also with ma meaning devil and jin being god
>>15745074
I got that except jin can mean person too.
>>15745101
Jin can mean several things, Kanji/Japanese is silly like that
Its written in katakana but in kanji it would be 神 rather than 人
Don't know if this is where I'm supposed to ask this. I want to get into the mecha genre of anime. what are some essential mecha anime to watch. I want to start with the older stuff like grendizer. The gundam series seems overwhelming so I'd rather steer clear from it.
>>15744548
Gundam is actually a good starting point if you want older stuff, the original 1979 series easily falls into that category and is quite enjoyable by itself.
If you know Grendizer, Mazinger Z is found on Nyaa in proper English in its 92 episode glory, plus movies. There's stuff Like Combattler, Voltes V, Daitarn, Dairugger, Daltanious, etc. You may have to do some searching for torrents of these, but they're there.
Oh yeah also Dougram and VOTOMs are great.
Xabungle n' Ideon are also nice.

Was it Tomino's idea or Bandai's idea or what? Why did they even make it in the first place?
>Was it Tomino's idea or Bandai's idea or what?
Fans' support and demand.
>Why did they even make it in the first place?
Demand and supply.
ironically, its the best UC tv show. thank you, consumerism.

So that we could forget the abomination that was Zeta and get an actually amazing show
>In 2015 and 2016 William Winckler wrote, produced and directed the American English language versions of Tsuburaya Productions' Ultra Series feature films. Among the movies are Ultraman X The Movie, Ultraman Ginga S The Movie, and Ultra Fight Victory. The former is in commemoration to the 50th anniversary of the Ultra Series.
Where can I find these? There hasn't been a DVD/Blu-Ray release I can find and Amazon Instant Video hasn't been helpful. However they do have the Taiwanese Mach Baron movie but that's besides the point.
>>15743409
They haven't come out yet in any physical media- they were used for a few showings of the movies together at Alamo Drafthouses this last January. They're not terrible, but some of the voices don't match the characters.
>>15743410
>They haven't come out yet in any physical media
Does anybody know if there will be one? I was wanting to get them as birthday presents for my old man, since he grew up and loves Ultraman.
>>15743409
I went to the actual theater releases and watched them
The dub is bad. Not completely shit, but pretty bad. I think they cut a few scenes here and there too
You are Asuka. You're on a week-long vacation from your normal duties in Tokyo-3. You're visiting family in Neo West-Berlin-11. (There is a Neo East-Berlin-42, but fuck them.) Your uncle has an apartment there, and he has kindly offered you the guest room.
You wake up. You are still not used to the unpainted concrete walls of the apartment. You have been woken up by your clock-radio. The DJ on the local station is up to his usual spiel. "IT IS PRECISELY EIGHT O' CLOCK AND FIFTEEN MINUTES. YOU WILL CONTINUE LISTENING TO 91.5 BERLINER-RADIO. DO NOT BOTHER US WITH YOUR REQUESTS UNLESS THEY ARE SUBMITTED BY FORM. NOW YOU WILL EXPERIENCE ARNOLD SCHOENBERG'S 1912 SMASH SINGLE 'GALGENLIED'," commands the DJ. You yawn, stretch, and exit the bed. You scour the pantry for some cereal.
What cereal will you eat?
A) Theodor Adorn-O's
B) Werner Herzog's Despair Retardant
C) Go Ahead And Eat, One Day Not Even Food Will Help You

Do you know of a better suited design for literal rape machines?
>>15741818
They should have been yonic designs instead of phallic ones in that case given their role in the show. Even an unprotected guy with a big phallic symbol (Balgus) managed to rape a bunch of them in the first episode if I recall.
I see many cool custom gunpla kits, but I have to wonder: do your custom kits have a backstory? Or you just make them that way because it looks cool and nothing deeper than that? Where the /m/ MS teams at?
I only do that for tabletop game models, where its easier to get some sort of attachment going because you use them in actual competitive fights. /tg/ calls this concept "your dudes."
>>15741773
I don't play tabletop games, but I do have a fleshed-out background for my megami device Hornet I've been working on. I get really worked up into the fictional world (that I made up because I don't know any MD canon even exists) when I start thinking about accessories and stuff and try to come up with rationale for using them and how they work. Still haven't gotten around customizing gunpla, though.
>>15741680
Since most of my custom gunpla are pirate themed the back story's usually just that they were a one off custom unit used by a pirate ace
Does /m/ have a handy chart for the various Cyborg 009 shows, movies, and OAVs? I know there's a boatload of them, but outside of what's on Netflix most of it doesn't seem to be available.
>>15741159
we don't even have the actual shows in question in their entirety
>>15741159
Everything on Netflix is a sequel/midquel which requires previous experience and background info, so don't watch it first. As for everything else, your best bet is the 2001 series.
Some stuff was fansubbed, but many of those are either torrents that have since run dry or fileshares that've been nuked. Crabsticks DVDs from eBay may be the best bet for them now.
