I remember the enemy mothership being Macross-lite. Tons of the enemies fighting them have designs reminiscent of old giant robots shows.
They got the voice of Optimus Prime to be the villain.
The girl from the future is wearing Valkyrie shoes.
The hidden superweapon is very much done in the same vein as Iron Giant.
There's that group of notZoids.
And much, much more.

General consensus on /m/ used to be that it was great, likely the best Gundam had to offer. It told a good "war is hell" story without really vilifying anyone much, and had some of the best designs the series had ever seen.
Although because it was considered good, now /m/ will do nothing but deride it in a childish attempt to appear insightful and independent by going against the grain.

My biggest problem was that Christina sucked major dick, actually she didn't even suck, that's because she hardly had any screen time. They tried to make the end seem all tragic because it was two lovers fighting, but I didn't feel like they had that good of an anything.

I liked the details they added to the custom Hymerwort. In order to give it extra energy to make up for the increased strength, it gains extra batteries in the form of a short-cape instead of the large rear waist armor that the Tellestarles had.

They did blow over Edgar's injuries and Helvi's concern for him though. But otherwise, the battle was pretty even with the LN.

Surprisingly, the trailer didn't spoil Tzendorg. I hope that doesn't mean that it has been cut out, but there hasn't really been any indication of such. Stephenie seems to be getting extra screen time in the anime, maybe she'll get a mech.

Vol 1 - 2 eps
Vol 2 - 3 eps

7-8 episodes left if it's only one cour. 8 episodes would work relatively fine to get to Vol 5, 3 episodes for volume 3 and streamline volumes 4 and 5 to make it fit into 5 episodes (2.5 episodes each). It's less likely to work well if they have to cram volume 3 into 2 episodes or make 4 and 5 2 episodes each.

A 2nd cour would be a huge surprise and would change the pacing significantly unless they add a whole ending arc. I don't see it happening since Vol 5 works so well as a stopping place.

As a novel, it fell flat. The writing quality, while not the worse I have ever read, is still sub-standard to your usual LN shit.

As for the characterlization, I struggled to remember their names. Saying unmemorable would be to put it lightly.

They did show part of it, but it only served to confuse the shit out of everyone because it was too short to provide context. I'm sure it was a time limit issue.

Still, my beef with the movie is that it portrays FSS as a melodramatic shoujo love story when that is one of the few things it absolutely was not. A poor adaptation, and an insubstantial standalone.

It's a fucking beautiful movie nevertheless, with the best soundtrack for any mecha film/TV series I've ever heard.

Also a wave of stupid has hit Orb and everybody wants to join the Federation that just tried to invade them to steal their orbital elevator. If you don't already hate Kira, you're probably going to like Destiny pretty well. I was disappointed in the cut-and-paste UC grunts replacing SEED's grunts, but that's my only real gripe.
Also do not be fooled by the anti-Kira corps, Shinn is *not* the new main character. He gets a lot of focus, but it's still going to be Kira and Athrun.

Promotional material made it look like SEED's answer to Zeta so /m/ expected a new protagonist (Shinn) and many (especially those who hated Kira for not being edgy enough) were extremely angry when Shinn didn't kill him off and take over the show.

My Freedom 2.0 has remained displayed and unfinished for 6 months now. Thinking about finishing it sometime in the future.

I just finished to write some poor scenario for a future role-play session. Nothing of great value but that was quite some time since I wasn't able to sit down and write something, so I feel great to simply managed to write something even that basic.
Nothing /m/ related tho, I am not confident enough to do sci-fi stuff.
