Can anyone identify this gun? My grandfather bought it surplus in the 80s and can't remember the model. All I know is it's chambered in 30-06
>>34168491
He also said the wood used to go all the way down the barrel but he cut it down
>>34168491
Lets just say its an m1a1 unless you wanna post some numbers.
It's a bubba'd M1903 Springfield.
What is a affordable but good first gun. I'm looking for a gun for home defense/survival.
Pic unrelated

Maverick 88?
Mossberg Maverick 88 12-gauge shotgun. This has replaced the "nugget" as the standard go-to poorfag firstgun. Simple and reliable, from a reputable company, with a good warranty and great parts availability, ammo availability, and aftermarket support. They can be had commonly for $200-ish
Hi buddies
I will soon get a concealed carry permit, and I'm wondering about what kind of holster and gun I should get. I'm thinking about a .45 or .40, no less. I need stopping power. 9x19 is not allowed in my country, if i got for a 9mm it would be 9x21. I'd like to have a striker fire (glock 36/30 maybe?) so that I dont have any safety or stuff that can get caught in my clothes or slow me down in case I need to draw it... Also I just stumbled upon the gun clip... sounds a good idea, not sure how it works out in real life tho. Opinions?

Yeah. This is nuanced b8

>.45 or .40, no less. I need stopping power.
Just go full meme and get a 1911 pistol chambered in .45ACP
Is this a viable strategy for defending an armed formation against attack?
The shield wall, or the idiots impaling themselves on friendly spears?

Would a pbs-1 suppressor work on an AKS-74U carbine? Given it was chambered in 7.62 or 545
Should I just stick to a pbs-4?
>>34167255
I think suppressors were specially developed for the 74u to facilitate better cycling. Like muzzle devices, I don't think a standard AK one will lend itself well to reliability.
>>34167274
I was just wondering, thanks
>>34167255
PBS-1s were sometimes used on AKS-74Us, I think.
I had this dream last night /k/
>in a grassy sunny field
>suddenly m1 garand materializes
>take it home
>give it a once over and notice it's been covered in white paint at one point
>paint is making the op rod and trigger stick
>the wood's fine though, looks like the paint was scraped off there
>look on youtube for a video on how to remove paint in the action
>what luck, forgotten weapons has a video on paint removal uploaded today
>Ian talks about how the Amish used to paint all their guns white
>makes sense
>Ian then takes the gun apart while showing where all the paint seeped into the action
>He's about to start showing how to remove the paint
>suddenly he stops
>looks directly at the camera
>makes the blue steel face and then contorts his body
>Ian's face slowly smiles and stretches as his eyes start to widen and roll back in his head
>He laughs manically
>Ian convulses in his chair
Then I woke up. I'm still not sure how I should remove paint from a gun.
Don't do the mistakes I made
>be me
>last year at this time
>beach near woods
>with parents and family friends
>screwing around with my knife, flipping it around
>lie about sunscreen on
I'm white as shit I burn like coal
>fall asleep around 11am outside..
>this is Florida so remember that
>wake up give or take 3pm
>knife imprint on me, only pale thing on me
>few hours later go to eat, 2 inch blisters all over my body form
>people think I either have a knife tattoo or I suddenly got a bronze tan
>run around for the week popping blisters with my knife
>find knife yesterday, can't move, can't come out of the sheath
>mfw the knife is stuck from puss and year old stuff stick inside still
Need to replace my knife, it was a Shrade. Any ideas?
>>34166980
Just cut the sheath off you dumbass. Or get a Spiderco like everyone else.

>Playing with my knife
Me too until I grew up and became an adult. Try it.
>>34167242
Man, you must be great at parties.
I'm currently looking for a new EDC knife, my current $34 pos Gerber folding knife ive had for about a year now just isn't cutting it anymore (pun semi intended).
I'm looking for suggestions preferably carbon steel, not stainless In the sub $75 range, it's used for misc shit, cutting cardboard, plastic packaging, zip ties, wires occasionally, etc.
Also general EDC Knife show off thread.
Any idea on who makes this? what model it is etc? any info would be appreciated.
Strider looks like anyways.
Why do so many people think that trenches stopped being useful after WW1?
Hiding in a hole in the ground is literally the only way to not get killed by incoming enemy fire. There is no structure you can build or vehicle you can hide inside of that will keep you safe. The only thing that works is a hole in the ground, and sometimes not even that.
Its called a tank... btw trenches are still used by basically everybody
>>34166312
In a way we do.
>What is a hesco barrier
We have the technology to just build dirt walls instead.

Oh, you know like pic related
What do /k/ commandos recommend I do withx my hand guard for my Colt? I like the standard A2 hand guard, but I can't do much with it. Also, should I keep the fixed front sight in place?
>>34166259
I recommend you spend mo money on your trash optic an get a good weapon light that can mount on your corn on the cob instead of getting the next TAPCO INTRAFUSE handguard or a fugly heavy quad rail. Your rifle can still be saved fren, don't fuck this up.
hi OP, let's address first post worst post right out of the gate
>>34166761
>I recommend you spend mo money on your trash optic
fair point
>an get a good weapon light
well said
>that can mount on your corn on the cob
dude, what?
>instead of getting the next TAPCO INTRAFUSE handguard
Anon has stopped clock effect on their side yet again
>or a fugly heavy quad rail.
ah, buying firearms components based on looks. the height of wisdom
>Your rifle can still be saved fren, don't fuck this up.
if you haven't started working on it, then how is it in need of salvage, or fucked up?
any way just go to /arg/ AND i rebooted your thread cuz I wanna see folks comment on the MOE SL handguards
You have one of the best handguards already, buy an optic and a buttstock first.
Was the Chu Ko Nu and all the other types of repeating crossbows as viable has people make them sound or do they not live up to the hype?
Are they more effective at range than just a single well-placed crossbow bolt?
>>34166202
They were the ancient equivalent of an SMG. Do you think that has no battlefield application?
>muh range
It was not until the 14th century AD or later that you begin to see the development and proliferation of mechanical loading devices/crossbows with extremely high draw weights. Any crossbow that could be loaded by the human body unaided is not going to have an especially great range.
>>34166202
These were basically town militia weapons...stronger Chinese crossbows existed and were used more often than we think but the repeating crossbow was meant for town guards or villagers to shower low power and cheap bolts on invaders from the walls.
