Maverick 88?

Mossberg Maverick 88 12-gauge shotgun. This has replaced the "nugget" as the standard go-to poorfag firstgun. Simple and reliable, from a reputable company, with a good warranty and great parts availability, ammo availability, and aftermarket support. They can be had commonly for $200-ish

Maverick 88 is a good choice pretty cheap and reliable. Also check pawnshops you can probably find a cheap scattergat there. My local place had a damn mosberg 500 with wood for like 110.

Handgun - M&P Shield in 9mm - $275-300 (Before the $75 rebate)
Bolt Rifle - Savage Axis in .270 - $300
Semi Rifle - PSA AR-15 build - $400 (Buy assembled lower and Upper, get a BCG and Charging handle in a weekend combo deal)

Aftermarket for all listed above is also plentiful and you can essentially make em into whatever the fuck you want. Also, ammunition is cheap and they're functional and reliable for whatever you need em for.

You can hunt damned near anything with it, it works for home defense, it works for shit hits the fan, its ammunition is as common as it gets, its easy to maintain, its reliable and it only costs $250.
