the pseudoephedrine scene of a truckstop drug,
working the long hours of gitting gud and seeing nothing but the same old suburban america in your mirrors
its a boring madness /ic/ likes thats for sure, nothing attainable in a short while is worth it , even if it its pleasant and rosy pink.
grays greens and blues... grays greens and hrmmss..
i'm not saying this like it's a bad thing either, i just think i finally get it B)
finding the dull america suburban flatland beautiful, like a country song...

That reminds me of London, to be honest. So many nights walking alone watching the rotten orange sky, hiding away each an every star that might have wished me luck.
And despite how disgusting it was, I miss it.
>>2888618
that sounds kinda crappy and lovely i know whatchu mean
i live in the northeast Pennsylvania in between the suburbs and rural parts after living in austin tx and its just not the same
the only thing that captures me is this lack of aesthetic aesthetic grayness on moonlight evenings

Who is this Derek and is he a good artist? Where's his blog? His hand writing is really nice, that's for sure.

Don't worry about who I am (-:
I was too much of a spastic cunt around an artist I look up to, now he doesn't respect me anymore
How do i fix this
I want to get into digital drawing, and I cant imagine using a tablet without a screen and having it connected to a big screen. Now Im thinking of getting an Ipad pro but its very expensive. I would probably sell my laptop for it and use the Ipad overall. Any recommendations, cheaper alternatives or experience with ipads for drawing?
>>2887840
very bad idea, an ipad can't replace a pc
>>2887840
/g/entooman here, get a fucking lenovo yogabook
>>2887840
It isn't very clear, but what I think you mean is that you believe your tablet needs to double as the monitor displaying the drawing
Do NOT do this. Your potential for drawing will be halved if you opt for an ipad or windows tablet over a wacom. It's an understandable worry for a beginner, but I promise you everyone gets used to a pen on a wacom very quickly
this place is fueled by jealous angry nerds. and it makes me sad to see famous or otherwise well known artists come back here just to say hello. disgusting.
It is a terrible place where people lacking knowledge give awful critics, and mistake shitting all over someone as "harsh criticism".
There are some good resources shared, that's the only point of coming here.
I feel like half of /ic/ are just people who want to get gud
and the other half are shitposters who draw once in a blue moon
Hey /ic/
Im searching for references like Pic related.
Would appreciate if someone could post some.
>>2888114
We would appreciate if you use google, instead of shitposting here.
>>2888114
check "1000 Nudes" by Michael Koetzle. It's full of vintage refs only, I thinks it may suits your needs. plus, it's very cheap.
I know some of you degenerates save massive amounts of lewd girls be it naked or dressed sexy with the idea to some day draw them. Go ahead and post sexy/lewd references. Photos if possible, of relatively juicy and sexy girls.
postin' some to set the tone
Can we please discuss digital drawing process? I feel like this is really important.
How do you do it + are you happy with the results?
Any tips/good examples you can share?
Things I've found so far:
>clean lineart is not worth it
>the process needs to be broken into clear stages so you know when it's done and don't waste time over-rendering it
>adding detail to areas that are out of focus takes extra time and does more harm than good
>too many layers or simply bad layer management will fuck you up
Things I'd like to find out:
>do you start simple by adding one form on top of another, or create a mess and bring your forms out of it?
>is it a good idea to base your lighting process on physical laws? (different layers for ambient, direct, specular, subsurface etc.)
>when do you start adding color? straight away (like SinixDesign) or grayscale>gradientmap>color overlay?
Some examples of gud workflows:

>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N60V6EGZdO0 (nice value mapping)
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrawPVjWNlU (reminds me of Leyendecker)
I don't know many good artists who utilize the line well, so if you know any, please share.
Pic related is a good one.
I just don't want to spend years polishing turds, I'd rather spend years optimizing a well thought-out and structured workflow that has a good effect/effort ratio.
>>2887056
Honestly it's dangerous as fuck to try to find some universal "rules" on what makes a good workflow, especially since digital is such a flexible medium. The best workflow is the one that works for you personally, and there are numerous different approaches that often contradict each other but are all equally valid.
Also if you always stick with exactly the same workflow you will always get the same end result. This might be desirable for client work since it is consistent, but it can potentially be harmful for your own personal growth.
>>2887082
You speak wisely.
I'd like to have one line based clean workflow that produces consistent results that I'll be using to draw porn and build up a fanbase.
On my personal blog, I'll try to get into a lineless concept art and experimenting, so that I can land a job in a studio once porn starts to bore me.
one process i use often is to make the entire painting in greyscale, then make it a luminosity layer. By painting beneath the luminosity layer you can change the hue and saturation without affecting value so you can use all sorts of filters and crazy nonsense without ruining your values.
If you hate happy accidents and like to have complete control over everything, it's usually a reliable process.
here's a really sloppy example using greygirl
Was he right?
No, because this is the fake frank. Papafranku would never do that to us
What am I looking at?
>>2880262
what did frank go to college for ? was always curious
I need critics about my drawing!
>>2888193
Thank you!
How would you go about creating light over a dark surface like this? Just take a brighter version of the underlying color, overlay it, then tweak from there, or is there a better / more specific way that works well for you guys?
pretentious
>>2887997
Looks like a separate color dodge layer. You can also have a saturation layer to play up the colored fringing in the edges of the light. You can ofcourse also paint everything straight. Depends on your workflow and what style you're after.
This is a 60 x 48 in. oil painting. What do u guys think?

For an oil painting, the artist did good at making it look like it was made in Photoshop. So that's cool.

Very colorful. Nice discovery!
Is there any easy to use app that replaces the good old wooden manikin? I need to study some poses and I don't want to buy one.
>>2885633
>easy to use app
There are many but I find them all difficult to use. Not impossibly difficult to use it just sucks if you're in the mood of drawing and don't want to spend half an hour posing a Mannequin...
I found the mannequin very useful to own to help with foreshortening issues, and to think about form and mass (it is better to actualy precieve something in real 3d than to have a computer projected abstraction), but it is very limited in poses.
As for app I own the Skelly App by Proko, but I didn't find it very useful.
mannikins aren't for studying. They're more of a tool to help you draw from imagination.
