if so, you're as good as a professional artist.

Do you post most of what you draw, including sketches? Or do you keep most of it to yourself and show only your best?

Sometimes I won't update at all for months, even though I am drawing in the sketchbook. I wonder if I am better off posting them online. It takes a lot of work just scanning them all though. Out of 100 pages I'd post like 10 of them.

>>
No way, scanning takes fucking like a minute each. That would take forever. Besides most of my sketches are just me doing that, sketching, so you can't even tell what it is. Why would people want to look at that? It looks like chicken scratch anyways. I wouldn't say I post the best, but more so I post stuff I drew to post.
>>
>>2880520
you draw things with the intention to post them? i just draw
>>
i post everything i draw. if I know I am posting then i'll try harder because /ic/ is going to fuck me if I'm lazy.

If i posted only the best then every draw I have to compete with my best last day which is some random event.

i also like the idea of anons knowing that I mostly suck

Bought tickets to both IFCC and THU. These will be my first trips alone and i'm gonna sperg so hard out there. But they also give a lot of motivation to upgrade my portfolio as much as possible until May and September respectively. Are you going, OP?
>>
>>2876447
I'm going to IFCC and PL, skipping THU, though. Last year I went to all three and it was a bit much, especially with two of them scheduled back to back. Also THU is getting too crowded and focused on fee-fees.

Good luck with your travels, I'll keep an eye out for a sperg in Zagreb and buy you a drink.

How do webcomic artists deal with criticism? How do they deal with getting poached by SJWs? How can I avoid offending people?

You can't, but you can use nuance and smart jokes to get your point across without directly stating something.
>>
>>2888347
You can never be affected by criticism. Many manufacture their own just for publicity. It's all marketing.

What's a good tablet/pad I can use and what is the best program to draw on?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
With photoshop you can't go wrong; of you want a program specific for comics I think that clip studio is one of the best around.

For tablet, cintiq is expensive but a good investment. You can try with intous if you have the patience to retrain your eye/hand coordination to draw on the monitor while your hand is on the pad.

thanks. Starting to draw again after nearly a decade. My only experience is pencil and paper
>>

Practice doing sketches on paper and polishing them up/linearting/coloring them digitally; helps a lot to then start sketching in digital too.

Is George w Bush a good painter?

For an amateur/hobbyist he's pretty good. He can't compete with actual pros but that's to be expected. I do like some of his paintings though, they have a nice charm to them and an interesting enough style, though about half of them have some really terrible drawing that ruins them.
>>
>>2889112
No, it's cool that he paints for fun but I feel a little bad for him every time he shows one of his paintings to the public and people have to act like he's not shit.

Look at this segment on Jimmy Kimmel for example, they compare his painting to the actual soldier in the audience and you can tell that he fucked up. Or how he shows a painting he did of himself in the tub to show how he learned perspective but it's apparent that he doesn't really understand it. Or how in the end both him and Kimmel do a quick sketch of each other and Kimmel somehow draws better than him.

So I am doing a project at my design school where I have to turn a children´s drawing into concept art with a story behind. Since my kid drew me a hot airballoon with eyes and arms, i turned it into this that you are seeing.
But I am terrible at concept art, so if anyone got tips on how to take this to the next level, I would appreciate it a lot. I wanna make something cool for the kid!

I've recently started studying Hendrik Goltzius' work to learn how to better use cross contour lines, can anyone suggest any other artists with similar techniques that I can study?

Gonna post some of what I have in the meantime.

For the animator's survival book author richard wiliams, it definitely is.
And for many old artists too. But will it really help you to make it?

I had my first class of classic fine art teaching, and I only learned how to hold a pencil and how to do strokes. Most of the things you learn will be about observation and drawing. Nothing about imagination. And I don't think the industry cares if you know how to draw the right way on a canvas.

How can one learn classical art and not become Proko trying to draw a kangaroo? That guy definitely didn't make it in my book

obviously, learn design, expand your visual library and just draw from imagination in your spare time
>>
>>2885012

There really isn't any good schools that teaches you how to draw from imagination. Ateliers will teach you how to paint and draw from life but little else. FZD teaches good sketching skills, but is focused on design more so than illustration.

It's best to think of imagination drawing and life drawing as two different disciplines with some overlap. You need to do both if your end goal is to do realistic illustrations

Okay seriously, what the shit is the deal with this bitch?
I never heard of her until like a few weeks ago, and most of her accounts seem less than a few months old. She claims to be a 16 year old girl.
How did she shoot up to the point of getting like 3000 notes per post on Tumblr and such an insane following with art like this?
She even had like 3000 follows on Twitter before she deactivated (which, if anyone knows why it happened I'd really like to know).

It's all just so inexplicable. Is it the 16 year old girl who draws erotica of other girls riding the Hex Maniac trend to internet fame or what?

I know posts like this are cancer here, I just can't figure this one out and didn't know where else to turn.
