So a little background. My name is todd, i'm 43 and I started drawing about a year ago. Now I understand that i'm not the greatest artist in the world but i've seen a lot of artists around my level who get paid commissions of 20 bucks. Whenever I try to get a commission done for someone, they refuse to pay over 10 bucks. I'm just wondering what's going on? Is my style not appealing enough? I been trying to do lots of style studies to make my work more appealing because i'm not going for realism since it's boring.
>Why wont people pay me enough for commissions
Because you don´t make them to.
And that´s the only answer.
It´s you job to make people believe that you stuff is worth paying a lot for.
Sere Apple, see "Star wars" action figures...
All sold far above their real worth.
Why?
People are persuaded that this _is_ their real worth.
You are either a bad troll or severely autistic
>>2884875
If people are seriously willing to pay you 10$ for your art, you should be fucking thankful.
At what skill level should one quit his job and fully concentrate on making it?
>>2884776
I would say a professional level.
Stupid.
>>2884776
Beginner level to be honest desu.
Nobody believes you until you're good enough, but you can't be good enough if you don't fully concentrate on making it.
It's why there's so many people who don't make it.
No one believes them so they don't believes themselves.
The first step to making it is believing in yourself.
>>2884779
You dont quit your job at a beginner level fag
I want to know your opinion of this drawing and what can I improve on it?
>>2883065
in my opinion. go do some life drawing courses, it's lacking anatomy.
also stop smoking pot. i can tell you smoke pot. pot makes you less creative.
>>2883065
Definitely work on anatomy. You might want to use photographic reference. You could try taking your own photos as reference. That's what I do.
>>2883083
How can you tell?
How about we make a new reference thread guys? It's been a while since I saw one so let's share what we have, shall we?
Hey guys started a youtube video where i do random vids please check it out it would help me alot

It's fucking terrible, do something more worthwhile with your time or kill yourself.

Why the fuck is this on an art board?
Does anyone use this shit, or some other kinds of hardware other than the usual meme devices?
FWIW, GIMP has support for MIDI devices,
> implying that you can use mixerboards and DJ turntables to draw or mix colors and stuff.
>>2884771
>meme
uh you mean tablets and photoshop? the industry default and standard? a meme?

thousands of beautiful works
i don't sargent very much, but there's a lot of his sketches wow
there's even tasteful classical nudes the low-impulse control /ic/ can draw without feeling guilty that they're having a mental wank every time sit down to art
Define art.
>>2882103
Personally I like the definition Harold Speed uses in The Practice and Science of Drawing:
"the Rhythmic expression of Feeling"
1.
the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.
2.
the class of objects subject to aesthetic criteria; works of art collectively, as paintings, sculptures, or drawings: a museum of art;
an art collection.
See also fine art, commercial art.
3.
a field, genre, or category of art:
Dance is an art.

My dick sliding in your sisters pussy
how many hours of practice per day do you think is ideal to make it in 3 years?
>>2881763
shut up
>>2881763
10,000 hours to make it
3 years
roughly 1095 days
so roughly 9.2 hours a day
8 hours a day is a meme, you all need to work for an hour more
>>2881763
3 hours per day minimum for 5 years
Ideally, if possible, you want to add an additional 5 hours for a total of 8. On a bad day, 1 hour.
What's your reply when people keep asking you for an art trade/ request?
>tfw no one asks you for an art trade / request
>>2878066
Hey anon, I'm requesting a picture of sonic the hedgehog eating some mac and cheese at a retro diner.
Pls comply. Thank you
/ic/ BTFO'd again!
I seriously don't get the general hate towards Cyarin here on /ic/.
BTFO?
>>2877152
>Her shitty text tweets get more likes in 2 minutes than my artwork will get ever
Fuck this bitch
Is she the one who doesn't take critique and refuses to improve?
If so then I get the "hate". But she's right on the artistic community being a bunch of dramatic pieces of shit. ALTHOUGH there are plenty of good people around too.
Drama always brings those extra views and likes, anyway
Hey dudes. I love to draw and want to go digital, what are some drawing tablets/software you would recommend?
>>2883711
I've only ever used a wacom intuos art tablet so I don't know how good other are, but it's pretty nice. Some you can rest your hand on while you draw and some you can't, so watch for that. Try and get one as close to the size of your monitor as you can.
As for software if you want free there's krita or gimp, If you want to pay I think photoshop is $10 or $20 a month or you can buy Sai for $50.
I find that Sai is much better for drawing than ps.
>>2883711
Why the fuck are you making a thread for this? You just come into /ic/ for the first time without looking at the sticky, without lurking to get even the vaguest notion what the etiquette is around here, without LOOKING to see if the answers to your questions are already posted, shitting up the board with another one of these fucking threads.
There are links in the fucking sticky, you stupid mother fucker. There are links to discussions about tablets in it and commentary on what the industry standard software is. >>1579290
There are three fucking threads about tablets: >>2862514 >>2880326 >>2881786
There is a thread about software: >>2872822
There are ALWAYS threads about these things, because faggots like you think this board exists for you to come in here and ask the most fucking basic and obvious questions, the kinds of questions you SHOULD FUCKING REALIZE ARE COMMONPLACE AND WILL HAVE ANSWERS POSTED ALREADY (IN THE FUCKING STICKY).
And if you somehow didn't realize that EVERY beginner artist wants to know what equipment to use, and so answers to such questions will exist in any easy to find location, there is also a FUCKING "QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS" THREAD, WHERE YOU COULD ASK YOUR FUCKING OVERLY GENERIC AND COMMON PLACE QUESTIONS - QUESTIONS THAT YOU COULD FIND THE ANSWERS TO ON YOUR OWN IN A DOZEN PLACES A DOZEN TIMES OVER IF YOU JUST LOOKED AROUND FOR FIVE FUCKING SECONDS YOU STUPID PIECE OF SHIT:
2881895
>>2883926
Just answer the mans question. Jesus Christ I hate how cunty all these niche little board communities are. Could you really not think of any way to say this remotely nicely? "Oh hey OP, you know there's threads open for this right? You should ask their". I'm gonna go practice my fundies so I can adequately draw the level of disgust I have for you.
need a help, got an scan of card need original full size art hel pplz, Starlight Unicorn
Are there any art schools in italy that take a virtual beginner? I've been working in finance for the past few years and I'm tired of it but I'm a virtual beginner with drawing so I know I won't meet the criteria for most portfolio submissions.
Have you looked? What are your options?
>>2884660
I've looked quite a bit, I'm not a native of Italy but of course we have the internet. Anywhere with a fine arts major really would be my option, it's all cheaper then the US. Most places I've looked don't say flat out "1st year beginner studies, 2nd advanced, etc"
So i was hoping for a recommendation. Was looking at the florence academy of fine arts, looks good but like i said not sure.
There are no art schools that rake beginners anywhere in Europe, and I assume anywhere else, either, just like there are no math or physics academies that take people who don't know calculus.
Art schools are not there to teach people to draw, they are there to direct people who already did their legwork.
/ic/ seems to think art schools teach you Loomis and DOTRSOTB, but it's all higher level stuff like composition and color theory, with art history being the bulk of the non-praxis curriculum.
Unless you go to a meme school, then you literally just finger paint and make sculptures out of toilet paper rolls
Hello, I did this portrait, was that good?
>>2884383
that is pretty solid. a little hard on the lines/pressure around the hair(line) and eyes though.
I can't tell if it's a nigger
>>2884395
Sorry, I do not understand. can you explain me?
